Lorenzo's first year in MotoGP was with the factory Yamaha in 2008 as team-mate to Rossi where Lorenzo started well (much like SToner in 2006) then had a series of crashes that interrupted his year (much like Stoner in 2006).

Stoner's first year was in 2006 on a satellite Honda, 2007 on a factory Ducati when he won the championship (first year of 800cc), 2008 on a factory Ducati where he finished second with 2009 being his thrid year on a factory Ducati.

Ergo, Stoner won the World title in his second year in the top class and Lorenzi is well on his way to possibly doing the same

well I will make this prediction....cs will beat chuppa, i will even go as far as saying that cs will win the wc, not by much but by a whisker. there are plenty of races that will suite the duck & cs to the ground & that is easpecially if there is rain

Just to remind that stoner win WC07 coz he got bike that he can ride faster than everybody else but when rossi have a bike that competitive 08 (@ laguna seca08) he cry and bla...bla...bla
lorenzo now have a bike that same as rossi and even after catalunya, he mature to face it
so i must said lorenzo much better than stoner so i wanna see lorenzo battle with stoner and that will be good

I will try to understand and argue your post as I am not sure if I understand it correctly so here goes.

You say that Stoner had the superior bike in 2007 and as such won the WC, but in 2008 you say that Stoner whinged and whined because Rossi now had a competitive bike - is that correct?

But, you seem to over look that in 2007 Rossi himself whinged and whined about his bike package and specifically the tyres. So, it goes that on your logic he whinged and whined because he was getting beaten by a better rider/package - is that correct?

Now, if we then say that the Yamaha is the better bike throughout 2008 and up until this point in the season (based on manufacturers title, team title and championship positions) does it also not go that Stoner's Ducati is therefore not the best bike?

Further to this, if we are to say that the Yamah has been developed by Rossi and to believe that Rossi is a development genius (no evidence to say he is not), does it not mean that others are now riding Rossi's bike and as such it should be good?

If so, then should Lorenzo be judged against Stoner on an inferior bike (again, look at all championship position) or against Rossi on an equal machine?



I said earlier and stand by it that CS and JL are to close to call in terms of who is the better as to date their careers have scarey parrallels in terms of first season rookie errors and second season consistency placing them into championship contention. Couple that with this only being JL's second year whereas Stoner's 4th and one could say that Lorenzo is on track to be better, but that he is not there yet and as such they are to equal.

2007 was a year in my opinion like 2002.. stoner had a clear advantage because of the bridgestone tyres mainly and the big difference in power, top speed is not that important but acceleration is, and the gp7 was much better in that part. coming out of slow corners etc. of course that doesnt mean that he didnt deserve the championship. in 2007 he was the best by far.
the m1 needed more power in the low rpm's even last year and that can be seen on onboard videos, how the rcv or the ducati jumped out of the corners compared to the m1. as for who whines and who says things as they are, look what rossi said after the 2007 catalan gp - he said "stoner rode like a god" ....anyway, i think that both rossi and stoner are more mature and clever now.. rossi learned to lose in 2007, stoner last year. this year both bikes are pretty much equal.. there is a balance..
i think lorenzo must have watched all this closely and now understands that he should show to the media a more cool side of himself.. in order not to be labeled as anything, but to gain respect from his rivals and i think he has.. in that matter, lorenzo is like valentino.. knows how to handle the press and says always good things, but i'm sure that's not how he feels inside..
lorenzo is smarter than stoner i think.. more of a thinking racer.. even the way he closed the door at every turn at the final lap at catalunya, the defending lines he was taking, he was amazing, forced rossi to give everything he had to win..
if we are talking about skill and ability, the top 4 are all very close, they are the best. i'd simply say that valentino is just a bit better at braking and overtaking. but i'd rate lorenzo higher than stoner. the biggest threat to valentino's championship. i just have the feeling lorenzo sees things differently, he seems to me smarter than stoner. the rest of 2009, and in 2010, lorenzo and rossi will be very close at every race, i think. and i'm sure jorge can beat valentino the same way he got beaten, and that day may not be far from now. i wouldnt say the same about stoner though.
