Read david emmett's piece and the comments thereafter now.

I will concede some petulance in stoner's departing remarks as I did from the get-go. Still seems his major offence for some was beating rossi though.

Where he is old school imo is in believing in the old adage that the ........ stops when the flag drops. Post-race comments, pre-race/ practice tantrums or whatever, I think it is hard to criticise him for anything he has done when it matters in an actual race since his error when he took out gibernau in 2006, for which he was immediately profusely apologetic, and which he has seemed at pains not to repeat. If he is not suited to modern sports entertainment, then so be it, he doesn't want to be.

I bet Alberto Pig had a big smile on his face after the announcement.

Rumor has it HRC is going to sign Jumkie for next year..................... to polish helmets like his idol Uccio.

To all the ......., fat internet losers that have put the boot into Casey in this thread, i say this: You are witnessing the lst races of probably the fastest rider of a GP bike in history. News flash, he will win the championship this year. For ayone winning the championship in the next 5 or so years, it will be a hollow feeling, because they won't have beaten the best.

Fan boy alert !!!!

Long Live Casey, Fastest rider in MotoGP history.

chopperman, curve, mDub, and especially basspete. Go .... yourselves because the king is about to leave the building. Now all your .... second rate riders might have a chance! Relish in your hollow victories. Estimation: total DOMINATION this season, and 44 premier class wins total

The New breed.. Neo boppers, thank god most will go crawl back under there rocks come next season !

Wow Rog. you are having one hell of a super spatty/whinge/cry ATM??? I thought you'd be happy Stoner was going!??

or maybe you wanted Rossi to have the oportunity to try and beat Stoner ....... but come on! he's had several years to try and has failed.

Absolutely gutting news. For everyone except his fellow riders. As for him going out at the top, I don't think he is, he's getting better & better. Another year or two after this one & he'd (possibly/probably) have 5 championships & still only be 29/30(?). I think he'll be remembered more for "what if" than what he has achieved which is sad, but hey, it's his life so good luck to him. Agree that whoever wins over the next 5 years or so will always have questions asked of them...

FIP (Fish in Peace) to one of, if not the greatest rider ever...

Whats that Chopperman? We got Arthur Sissis comin up the ranks. Enjoy cryin yourself to sleep over the next 14 races. Total domination comin to ya. He will finish up the most dominant rider of his era 2006-2012. Most race wins, most championships, most poles, most fastest laps, 6 in a row at PI, most awesome. The look of relief on Valentino's face said it all. Bellisimo!

Who's crying?? not me ! im cracking open a brand new bottle of woods tonight and celebrating. Not because Casey is retiring, i'm not so bothered either way. The sport does not revolve around him like it never revolved around Rossi. Nope i celebrating the start of the end of the Casey fan aka neo bopper.... CHEERS.

Well at least you and your neo bopper mates will still have rossi around to hate. You ....... Hypocrite !

.... off dipshit. You by far are the biggest ....... hypocrite on this site you smarmy ........... You're hatred for all things Stoner is very well known. Let me repeat - you've admitted you hate Stoner because of his fans.

Hypocrite - you're the one who said you'd give up on Rossi if he went back to tobacco sponsorship. Hope you got rid of your fanboy tattoo.

I wouldn't rule out Lorenzo quite yet. My money is still on him for this championship.

Dub, the simple situation is that Stoner has made mention of numerous aspects to the racing, rules and formula and what he has felt to be poor decisions but each time he has been ignored by most and ridiculed as whinging by many,

Fact is, the decision makers do not listen so how can he make a difference?

Personaly, if (and this is a big if), if he is leaving because the sport is going against what he feels is a better way, than to me that is an amazingly brave (some will say idiotic) and principled decision and more power to him.

We all sit here and bemoan that DORNA do not listen, so who knows whether they may now start to wonder themselves WTF?

I agree with that gaz. but I dont agree with quitting over it. I dont know what he could do but him and his buddy Jorge could for sure get .... done. Its sad. I am sad for him. That he feels that way, and he is taking (imo) the cowards way out. Like I said before, this sport has given a lot to him. Its his chance to give back to the fans, the media ect. But to quit for reasons such as the media, and no one respects the truck driver is sad. I honestly thought that someday Casey was going to prove the haters wrong.

Im always willing to back it up and have met in person several members, some friends some not. You on the other hand sit behind yopur screen making threats and insults while hiding behind your internet anonymity. I will get the pop corn out now and wait for your poof mate Krusty to come to your rescue.

Where was the threat fuckhead? I'll leave that up to you. As for insults, I'm sure you can cope with a few Reggie. After all you start most of the .... on here with all your snide comments.

PS - you never answered whether you got rid of that fanboy tattoo.
