Rossi 250 champ: factory NSR500

Pedrosa 250 camp: factory RC211V

Lorenzo 250 champ: factory M1

Aoyama 250 champ: factory supported RC212V

Simonchelli 250 champ: "factory" RC212V

Bradl Moto2 champ: "factory" RC212V

Marquez Moto2 champ: factory RC212V

Redding Moto2 champ elect: CBR.1 glorified CRT

Was Kato's Gresini factory supported in 2002?

It does seem to be a rule rather than a law tho, Pogg got nothing for his 03 250 title (not a bad thing considering 04 results) and Elias in 11 at LCR wasn't factory supported either.

However I do agree that its a bit of a slap for Redding if he wins, as a Brit I cant deny we have enough Manuels already in MotoGP

well it had 2 less strokes in every combustion cycle but apart from that it was as good as it got ;)

He did get an RCV for the second half of the season, though.

i stand corrected, thanks austin

weird though, without me looking up now i couldn't tell you if he did anything special on the rc wheras we all know how alex liked it.

exciting japanese riders don't seem to gel too well with 4 strokes it seems

I think he had one podium on the RCV. He certainly didn't take to it as quickly as Barros did.

Lets not forget, Hayden has beaten Lorenzo in a fair fight dry race riding the Ducati (Aragon) 3 years ago. He knows how to ride and knows which bike gives him the best shot.

Would be nice if he does not sign till the season is over. That way he get to test the best of the rest/worst.

The reality though is that there are more decent riders than there are seats. It would be a bit risky to wait until the end of the season, unless he thinks the Panigale is a good option. It's had a bad year, but it might be better than the results suggest. Plus the pay would have to be better than the other options, and Hayden isn't getting any younger.

He did alright on diesels. He won the 8 Hours a couple of times, while it was still contested by GP calibre riders.

I'm still pissed off we never got to see him really ride an RCV. After all, Gibbers did alright on that Movistar RCV and Kato was in a different class of talent.

+ I think it's safe to say he would have gotten a whole other level of support from hrc

Hang on doc vespa!

Did you just call the rc a diesel? I love my smokers as well but you're being wayyyy to extreme

Suck Squeeze Bang Blow.

Diesel!

(I think Kato was the last to podium a stinkwheel, too)

<span style="font-size:14px;Tech 3: Equal treatment for Smith and Espargaro in 2014

<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;text-align:left;Pol Espargaro will not get any preferential treatment over Bradley Smith at Yamaha in 2014.

<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;text-align:left;The Spanish Moto2 world title contender will replace Cal Crutchlow in the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 squad next year but he will be contracted directly with Yamaha in Japan.

<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;text-align:left;That will not get him a higher spec YZR-M1 1000cc machine than Smith though and his bike won't be any closer to the factory bikes that will be raced by Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi next season.

<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;text-align:left;Tech 3 team boss Herve Poncharal told MCN: “I don’t know exactly the level of bike we will have but I remember when Colin (Edwards) was with us and Ben (Spies) joined in 2010, he never got any advantage even though he was a factory rider.

<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;text-align:left;Yamaha’s policy out of respect and to support the team is to always give equal treatment. This year it was a different story because Cal has been doing so well and Bradley is only a rookie. I have already discussed the level of equipment with Yamaha in Brno and both riders will have exactly the same spec.”

<span style="font-size:14px;Aspar fears Aleix Espargaro departure

<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;text-align:left;Aprilia’s radical upgrade of its 1000cc ART machine doesn’t appear to have convinced number one rider Aleix Espargaro to commit his future to the high-profile Aspar squad.

<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;text-align:left;Espargaro dominated the new CRT category in 2012 and has been unstoppable again this season, the Spaniard frequently out-qualifying and racing factory prototypes.

<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;text-align:left;The 24-year-old is under contract to Jorge Martinez’s Aspar outfit for 2014, but he seems hell bent on clinching a switch to Forward Racing, which will run a Yamaha YZR-M1 engine and frame package next season.

<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;text-align:left;The YZR-M1 option could see Espargaro on Cal Crutchlow’s 2012-spec machinery but with 24 litres and a standard electronics hardware and software.

<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;text-align:left;Aspar boss Gino Borsoi reckons the likelihood of Espargaro staying is only 50-50, with Forward owner Giovanni Cuzari confirming to MCN recently that he will make a rider announcement at the next race in Misano.

<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;text-align:left;Borsoi said: “Aleix explained to us that a Yamaha bike could be the best production racer and he wants to find the best solution. Now he believes in Yamaha because that bike is already done. He will get the 2012 satellite bike and that was a good bike. The Aprilia project could be a really good project but it is a new project and we don't know yet how its performance will be.”

<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;text-align:left;With the future of Espargaro’s teammate Randy de Puniet still in doubt, Aspar could be in the market for two new riders.

<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;text-align:left;Advanced talks have taken place with 2006 world champion Nicky Hayden while discussions have also got underway with current Aprilia WSB rider Eugene Laverty.
<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;text-align:left;Borsoi added: “Aleix has a contract with us for next season and first we need to understand what is the situation with him. Nicky could be one of the best options for us.

<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;text-align:left;He could be a really good guide for Aprilia. He is a strong rider with a lot of experience and it could be a really good project. We have discussed a few times with him and he likes the project. And we have spoken with Eugene too and he would be another option for us. He is a really strong rider and he has done a really good season in World Superbikes and I think he has the potential to be a really fast rider.”

<span style="font-size:14px;<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;text-align:left;Hmmm - wants to be under the Yamaha umbrella with Pol?
