Not speaking for anyone.  And everyone's definition is obviously different.  At any level of competition, when there's personal high-stakes involved, you're gonna see competitors risking it at last lap last corner circumstances.  Didn't think it was that hard to understand.  If I came across has crass, my bad but as long as there's racing, there's going to be risky manuevers.  And being a thrill seeker, I relish every moment.  Sorry but if you wanna call me blood thirsty, go ahead.

Not speaking for anyone.

Not speaking to anyone either it appears.

Here's a tip: if you want to engage in a debate, it would be helpful if you would actually respond to people who take the trouble of responding to you. Consider reading what others say, trying to formulate an answer, and using the quote-button.

Or stay around to spout some random, undirected opinions, cemented with vague and inappropriate appeals to authority. Although acceptable here, if that's your game, maybe you should try crash.net sometime. You may get more response there.

Sorry, this is UserM4.  Tried to recover my old password through my phone but couldn't so I just created a new account.  Anyways, since I was back at home, I tried again with success.  Anyways...  I'm UserM4 and I've always lurked this forum but never really posted.  I know how it works.  Forgot how if you rub people the wrong way, things turn into a .... storm.  I'm sorry and apologize.  I'll just STFU and go back to lurking.

And who wants to watch these properly screwed on riders? Afaik, the risk takers are the ones with the most followers ie Rossi/Sic

The goal in racing is not to see who accumulates the most fans.

It's to see who wins the most races. Simoncelli was a risk taker

and it didn't win him any MGP championships or for that matter

gain him a whole lot of results in that class. He was popular with

a certain segment of caveman-mentality frat-boy fans, but not

well liked by the riders with more refined riding skills, into whom

he continually crashed and pushed off track like a bull in a china

shop. This is high level GP racing we're talking about, not roller derby.

I once "raced" to take a ..... But in my reckless haste, it turned out it was only a pisser. I yelled out "where the .... are the shitters?!" It was a "desperate time". I then "raced" to the actual ......., just moments before I made it to the stall, I .... my pants. I understand the "dangers" of racing recklessly.

Jum's such a natural competitor. In fact the above incident actually took place in his own house. That's why I don't drink the water in that part of LA.

The fallacy in your statement is that gladiators were expected to draw blood purely for entertainment. Nobody is forcing these type A personality riders to take risky last corner moves.

Again, anyone that's tried anything competitive, especially if there were high stakes involved, would sympathize.

You will find (assuming you stay around long enough) that there are a number of long time members on this forum who either are presently racing at professional level, club racing level or are directly involved in the racing efforts of top riders in the USA and in Europe, whose knowledge of the ethos and standards of competitive racers and said racers attitudes towards reckless riders far outstrip that of fans like yourself.

I gotta tell you Ace, if you don't think gladiators were expected to draw blood for the entertainment of the mobs - you need to pick up a ....... history book. The outcome in the Roman arena was 99% of the time death for the loser.

For fans a crash is a relatively sterile event where a rider goes down and dusts himself off and walks away. Of some faceless guy in leather suit and helmet is carried off in an ambulance. There is a disconnect between said fan and the actual pain of the injuries - to say nothing of the pain of post surgery recuperation and rehabilitation. The disconnect is even greater when the event is watched from the safety of a TV screen whilst sitting on the couch with a beer.

My ex wife was a corner marshal at the tracks where I used to race and I still remember the look on her face when she described carrying some rider off the track with blood streaming out of his helmet and his leg bent backwards in some impossible angle - and all because some ....... had rammed him off the track in an ill-considered banzai move. You should try it sometime. Go to a corner marshal meeting, learn the ropes and volunteer to pick up injured riders and then when you've looked into the eyes of a rider in excruciating pain who knows he's on the way to months of hospital rehab as a result of some ....... who doesn't know how to execute a clean pass, tell us all if you still feel the same way.

Riders accept the risk of injury due to their own mistakes. Having some irresponsible dipshit run you off the track or needlessly risk your safety - is not something any rider signs on for.

Krops, pardon my ignorance, I cant make out what this is, from my fone it looks like turn signals or butt plugs.  My humor detector is broken.

Turn signals. But you could probably use them as butt plugs if you wanted to. If that's your thing.

Looks like butt plugs you put in and turn left.

All fair and good comments. Just one small caveat, lets not pretend Marc Marquez doesnt have a particular reckless race tactic history that has been well observed, in Moto2 AND in MotoGP thus far. If the kid had a revelation at Mugello after 4 crashes, on at 300kph and the other during a race in the runner-up position, then I applaud him. I genuinely hope hes figured out he and others are mortal and championships are won by being prudent.

I think he learned that when his crash in Malaysia cost him the 2011 Moto2 championship. He was seriously hurt in that and lucky his injury didn't remain and cause his permanent retirement. Of course that was after he destroyed Wilarot (sp?)...

He's 20 now, wealthy, and under the wing of the HRC big-boys. I think he will mature his riding through the rest of the season and his personality will mature with age (is his Dad still in the pits? Don't see him as much as last year). Riders can do stupid things in the lower classes and go on to be great in the premiere class. The ones that don't, don't last.
