Ah the internet, twist what wasn't said into something else ... isn't "fake news" the current cry for people that don't want to believe facts? But I suppose there are some that still believe the earth is flat and gravity doesn't exist ... so I guess you can pretend anything is an opinion. I suppose Marquez stalling his bike didn't actually happen ... I mean how could it since Marquez has so much "talent"? Just my opinion right?

Race direction was pointing Marquez to the side of the track (did any of you actually watch the race), multiple crew members on the pit wall heard two stewards telling Marquez to go to pit lane.

Cheers, Rob.

"Fake news" ......

As an amateur yes on motorbikes, 1968 to 1994 from 125's up to 1000's, but my favourites are the 400/500's.

Have I ever had an experience like that, well yes, I got onto some wet stuff and ran wide at Clearways (Brands Hatch) then got t-boned by another rider who completely lost his bike, result was one broken leg and left forearm, 3 cracked ribs.

Will that do?

I almost crashed on a track day at Cadwell back in the 80's....ran onto the wet grass at Park but kept it upright and rejoined...i reckon i could teach that tosser Rossi a thing or two....

Only about riding for ridings and racings sake. Not about how to go senile and base your racing on conocted manipulative lies to discredit someone you have obsessive hatred for. :D

Some people don't understand British humour...please note this story is 100% true although the cameras weren't there to record it unfortunately.

Barry was referring to Rossi's obsessive hatred of MM methinks.

What Arrabbiata and Barry said. Perhaps they should put you in charge of the next Tour de France, given that is a race involving wheeled conveyances. "Fake news" is actually the cry of a certain American president when he doesn't have an argument, and stands on his self-assessed/self-conferred authority, and not very arguably applies more to you than those you dispute. If you want to talk "fake news" in GP bike racing, Uccio deciding that MM rode at PI 2015 to hamper Rossi, despite winning the race and taking 5 points away from Lorenzo, is a rather better example imo.

As others have said, Jumkie rather eloquently, RD were making up the rules for the start of the recent race as they went along, something for which they have considerable recent form, cf PI 2013 where, contrary to your thesis about his undue influence on RD, MM was actually black flagged for flouting a rule literally made up 5 minutes before the race, which could have cost him the title if he had crashed out of the final race at Valencia that year.

I don't dispute that they have let MM get away with things, particularly in moto 2; when he was a moto 2 rider Jumkie actually coined the term "Murder Marc" to apply to him with general agreement, including from me. Arguing that RD has pandered to him because of a Spanish conspiracy or whatever while conveniently ignoring close on 2 decades of pandering to Rossi is where you and others come unstuck, cart racing maven though you may be.

I was more thinking a guy gets on here and titles a thread " marquez banned for 2 races".

But lets face it with rossi going so poorly on track. We are going to see a lot more "fake news" as he attempts to appear, to the yellow zombies, to be a contender.

I hope you didnt commit the cardinal NZ sin and spend the night with Jim and not Portia!

Ah,you must be talking about rugby?,i don't follow it which is a sin down here, but that's ok because i'm English which is sin wherever you go it seems..

The number of wheels makes no difference to "circuit racing", the rules, the concept, the money involved, the equipment, the level of injuries, the contact, what one can and can't get away with, etc. etc.....
You are delusional, like most who have never been on a motorcycle on a race track.

A. The level of injuries are not the same. You can die from a slow speed motorcycle crash and destroy the bike. The same accident in a car would be a yawn and a drive away.

B. Have you ever wondered why motorcycle road races are so short? Well, partly because the damn effort to go fast on a bike is much higher than what it is in ANY car. People just wear out, mentally and physically and it's too dangerous to carry on for too long.

C. Contact in most auto racing (some open wheel exceptions) is not nearly as critical as in motorcycle racing. Dani Pedrosa just broke his wrist in a minor incident with Zarco. Nothing would have happened to four wheel drivers.

Sorry pal, but until you zip around on a track on a modern liter bike, I don't think you should make comparisons except for rules and perhaps race strategy.

Thanks.

That is a valid point and is why I don't try and interject my own views on racing from a personal experience perspective, because all of my wilder antics were a while ago and, to be perfectly candid, I am just not brave, fast or young enough to be on a modern liter bike.

An S1000RR out of the crate would be head and shoulders faster than WSBK winning machines from not that long ago.
I hate to admit it, because I never thought this day would come, but I have hit my yardstick of old age by actually considering a custom bike. Primarily because old injuries (from crashes, the army and MMA) plague me with pain on a daily basis, but also because at least then I would have a valid excuse for being slow, I can just blame it on the bike.

Edited to add that this is just my personal situation and why I don't comment on certain things. I'm not saying that people shouldn't be allowed to comment unless they have the skills of Jonny Rea or better. Folks can comment on whatever they want, it's none of my business, it is the internet after all.

To me the total and utter bigotry that flows from Rossi and his minions is both unbelievable and ironic.
When Marc first joined the Repsol MotoGP team in 2013, he was absolutely adored by the minions (including several of my friends) because he was upsetting Lorenzo, both with his robust style and also the fact he took Lorenzo out on his own corner. This was celebrated no end and Marc could do no wrong in the minions eyes, even Rossi himself (at that time a non contender) was often seen laughing and joking, obviously enjoying Lorenzo’s displeasure.
Fast forward two years and Marc is the devil, in 2016 Mugello saw burning effigies and abuse, the minions now hate Marc (even some of my mates flat out deny ever praising Marc, they always saw him as a dirty rider [emoji3]), this spat was continued by Rossi up until LS unfortunate passing, where Rossi decided to grant Marc the hand of friendship, very loosely so and clearly an act borne of the sad situation and certainly not a compulsive genuine one.
Now the precious 10th is getting more and more unlikely, Marc makes a mistake (several actually) and Rossi is like a snake, striking straight for Marc’s heart. Marc is absolutely the biggest threat to Rossi and definitely not one to be bullied off line by Rossi, so why not stunt his riding by kicking up a fuss and setting Dorna, R.D and the minions on him?
That’s exactly what Rossi is up to, but it won’t work, Rossi thinks he’s the man who absolutely commands respect, Marc is old school and gives respect to those who earn it, he won’t succumb to Rossi’s tricks, it’ll just spur him on to beat Rossi even harder.
Rossi had the opportunity to shake Marc’s hand and be the bigger man in Argentina, that might’ve made Marc think to go easier around Rossi. Instead the hypocritical insults and accusations will just rile Marc up, he’s probably already discussed one phrase with his team and friends... “this is racing!”

I really wrote what I did specifically for a car guy. I don't think you have to be a racer to enjoy racing. To demand the same skills as the MotoGP or other racers would be analogous to having to sing like Caruso to appreciate opera, or play drums like Keith Moon to appreciate rock and roll.

However, unless you have ridden a motorcycle at speed, you don't understand how different it is from driving a car at speed. And it is very different. I have had stupid arguments with car guys before concerning this issue. Just for the exercise, I prefer riding rather than driving on a track.

I have had a bunch of health issues the last couple of years. I wouldn't let your physical problems dissuade you from expressing your opinion. I bought a S1000RR to be my new track machine. It hasn't seen the track because of my health. I know two guys still riding in A group and they are in their seventies. I hope that is inspirational enough to soldier on. :)

I went with a buddy who was entered in several flat-track races upstate from me last summer. I was bitching about being too old to race anymore and he dragged me over to see a guy getting ready to exit onto the track. The guy was in his early 70s and he had a helper holding up a friggin' oxygen tank and he was holding it the breather to his mouth right up until they released everybody to go out on the grid. :wheelchair: He didn't do too bad either.
