MUGELLO **Race thread**

What a great race. Well unless you watched it on speed tv. Then it was lame as usual. Great ride by Jlo and Dovi. Casey blew his load early and passed it off on tire pressure.

And if this is the results Dovi's fedora gets him then I say keep rocking it. But it still wont get you a job a repsol next year. Sorry bro they like winners and spaniards.

And are you sure the fans were leaving early and not going to warming up there scooters for the massive track invasion?

Sad but true...unfortunate fact of life in what is a cut throat sport...Marquez is the obvious replacement even if Dovi manages a top 3 spot by the end of the year.

Of course Mugello isn't Stoners track, everyone knows its Ros ........ oh

How far back was Rossi this round anyway? Looks like Bayliss and I are dead right there, Cos Rossi was back with the "normal" riders.

Stoner did pretty well really I don't see why you are trying to belittle his performance.

Everyone knows Lorenzo is the guy to pip stoner at several rounds in 2011. I suspect he will get a few more too before the year is out. Its a hell of a competitive year at the top so far so its likely to rock back and forth, between Stoner and Lorenzo, for the rest of the year.

So far this year we have several race winners:

Stoner 4 races

Lorenzo 2 races

Pedrosa 1 race

Spies 1 race.

Its all made for one of the most interesting years in GP for many a year, and it will continue so.

Judging by your expressions of incredulity at Stoner getting a third at Mugello it would seem your assessment of his abilities far outweigh your ambitions for him.

Does Rossi still have more points than Stoner have at this point 2010?

Not sure without Googling - very likely he does, but then Casey never took him out at Jerez when pushing a bike with the front end feel of a shopping trolley.

I was surprised HRC went for a 3 bike team with Dovi this year. Maybe they will keep 3 bikes and get someone like Marquez or they go back to a 2 bike team. One thing you can bet on is Pedrosa stays. Repsol money guarantees this.

Dovi's management forced their hand. After the deal to run CS in Red Bull livery fell through it was announced that they were letting Dovi go, but his management stood their ground insisting that Andrea had fulfilled all the contractual obligations necessary for an extension - hence the three factory Repsol bikes which we haven't seen since 1995 (Doohan, Criville and Itoh). No doubt about it there will only be two next year...CS and Dani, Simo is reluctant to move up from Gresini. Dovi is far too good not to warrant a full factory ride somewhere...but where? This is .... following his years of loyalty to HRC throughout his career.

And Nino, why was it embarrassing for Stoner to be passed by Dovi today?

I dont think it was by choice...HRC had a contractual obligation to supply him a bike when he finished 2010 in the top 5 and I think he threatened legal action if they failed to honour that conract.

Beat me to it Arrab

Yeah i know he fulfilled his contractual results to get an extension , i also believe HRC could have afforded to buy him out of that if they really wanted.

I agree with arrab that dovi is just to good not to be on a factory ride. One thing is for sure, next season is going to be very interesting. Maybe even make or break for some including Dorna.

That's a very good point, and I did think at the time that was going to be their solution to the problem.

If I were suzuki I would be willing to give a lot of $$$ to Dovi next year. He and Bautista would make a good team. Unless he wants to have a go at the lame duc, I would think zook would be his only factory option for next season.

I think HRC really want an 800 championship. Because of this they invested in 3 very talented riders but were not prepared to throw all their eggs into one basket.

They have Stoner who we all know has what it takes to win that championship. Honda also had to realise that he had not won a wc for 2 years. Very few riders in history have won another title after a 2 year break.

Pedrosa who imo also has the talent to win but is fragile so needs lady luck on his side. Plus he brings in money.

Dovi. talented, constant and reliable. With these 3 they pretty much covered all their bases. From the looks of it they also threw a lot of money at the bike as well. Its cost them more to keep dovi than buy him out i reckon. But i think they believe its money well spent. Think of all the data HRC get from having so many bikes on the grid. A lesson Suzuki should have learned.

You kidding right? This is the first time Dovi has out-performed his two teammates. He's never on top of the timesheets practice or qualify, always way off the pace of his teammates. He managed to pull out a decent race today, and you all are saying he's a great rider? Like I said, at first I really did think the kid had something in him......... but truth is he's about a slightly above average rider at best. Bautista would probably put up better results if he had HRC equipment underneath him.

I think he would be better on the Gresini than a factory zook. Elias's LCR ride will be vacant. Maybe HRC will keep the 3rd bike?

Hopper could end up with the Suzuki ride next year. Bautista will be lucky to stay on unless Suzuki go for two man team again. Maybe a full factory gresini like sic? Its .... as Dovi is doing very well and deserves better. Good race today by all. Ok maybe not Elias :) no great battles, but it gets my vote for best racing so far this year.

No im not kidding. 3rd in the championship. 4 podiums this year and you say he is never top of the time sheets ?

Dovi has been consistant in pretty much each race. My concern with him moving to lcr or even a Duke would be he's worth much much more than lcr and could do with leaving the dukes alone while they sort their bikes out.

I agree he is worth more but i think even the LCR is better than duc or zook. Hiroshi Aoyama could make way to keep dovi on a competitive honda if hrc dont want the third bike. He could then switch to the factory honda to cover for Dani when he is out injured.

WTH are you guys going on about? He's been getting his butt whooped by his 2 teammates consistently through out the season and last. He's only able to put up decent results cuz he's on the HRC HONDA !! You're measured by your teammates, and he's always far off their pace.

Karel Abraham, if given the HRC bike, could probably put up same results.
