MUGELLO **Race thread**

Good race ! One of the more entertaining ones this year. I woke up ten minutes late so I only caught the last 15 laps but it was good to see some battles, nobody got lapped or taken out and everybody minus cal crossed the finish line. I was wondering at the end of the race if Lorenzo has done some growing up. He looked very excited for the win, as he should be, but no pre-staged theatrics. I hope to see more races like this as the season continues.

No offence, but after you and berry started throwing .... at each other, the thread was clearly on a bad course.

Your relationship with him is cute. You hate his guts but get so worked over him. You respond every time. You take the bait. Every. Facking. Thread.
<

You assume that. In actual fact if you took care to actually observe, i rarely respond to berry. Quite simply he is not worth the wear and tear of my cheap £3 keyboard, today was an exception as i got bored waiting for the aussies to post. They seem reluctant to show their presence when stoner gets duffed up.

You came into this thread and attacked me for pointing out things stoner said ABOUT THIS RACE. You did that because ??

Stoner also complained about his rear tyre but i will let others bring up that debate in case i get flamed for talking about points in the race that effected your god.

Peace
<

For a guy who said he'd never respond to me again, Keshav sure does a lot of responding.

All I have to do is mention Stoner, and it's like a red rag to a bull
<
.

I get impatient waiting for someone to say something intelligent - when it doesn't happen I reply to you.
<

Anyone think that Cal`s aggressive style is killing his front tyre, not too sure myself but his riding seems to favour the front end.
<

True Rog,maybe one Yamaha camp isn`t telling the other something, its just that Ben and Jorge seem to be far ahead in the control stakes as tyre management goes.

It just seems that Cal's tyre problems appear to be extreme.

Damn - I already did the 'who scalped Simoncelli?' line so I'll turn to the race.

Two things - and like Assen both revolve around yamaha's and their respective riders. The move Jorge made down Casanova/Savelli around the outside (Por Fuera) was astonishing, and possibly the best pass we'll see all season. Remember that's the section of the racetrack that when you barrel int it on a Moto GP bike prompts this expression on your face as your doing it:

Secondly the move Ben made on Sic at Bucine was as beautiful in it's execution as it was in it's calculation.

Toby and Jules noticed Rossi fans leaving the new grandstand in their droves six laps from the end....in Italy!!?? with Dovi was riding such a great race???!! That's what happens when you buy into a phenomenon as opposed to the racing. Not meaning to stir up a hornets nest, or indulge in any unnecessary trolling - and I've yet to visit Phillip Island which like Mugello I regard as the greatest race circuit on the planet - but it's hard to conceive of Casey crashing out of the Australian GP or even languishing back in sixth and Aussie Stoner fans leaving the circuit before the end of the race when another countryman is pushing for second and even has the possibility of a win!

I completely agree. As I said earlier Jorge kicked some serious ... at Casanove Savelli.... I can't imagine any RACE fan leaving a circuit with 6 laps to go regardless of who is where. I realise we all have our favourites, but surely we are also all race fans. Getting to see the best riders in the world at a circuit like mugello. Perfection in my opinion whoever you support

We were treated to some fine race craft today. The passes you mention and dovi's pass was so masterful on the brakes. As for Rossi fans leaving before the end, ill say the same as i do at football matches went fans leave because their team is losing. .... em !

It's also worth noting tho that many many thousands remained. The amount of fans including those pesky rossi fans gathered on mass to watch the podium. Great sight.

That's my continued gripe with Vale's following - many are not race fans - and I've held this view since Dani was booed in Parc Ferme by yellow shirted glory hunters at Donington '06.

No different to the hordes of supposed U.K. Manchester United Fans who have never been beyond the home counties and claim to like football.

It simply wouldn't happen Arrab...maybe the odd zealot might leave but when you make the effort of getting to the Island from up to 1000's of clicks away you make the most of it when you are there....especially at such an awesome circuit.

I cant ever recall riders being booed at an Oz GP either....Biaggi got a bit of good natured heckling the year he carried on like a ........ and claimed the "win" at Catalunya after being black flagged but he still got ample respect for his efforts of taming the track.

To be honest all the hate directed at Stoner, Lorenzo, Hayden, Rossi, Pedrosa and Simoncelli is a hard thing to swallow - as a dedicated race fan I am appalled by all this unwarranted negativity. I have no problem with constructive criticism when its due but the constant stream of venom and spite they endure is really beyond the pale....look at the bitching on here again about Stoner's performance today. Quite pathetic - but it really says more about the small minds doing the venom spitting than the riders themselves. If getting another podium result (and lets face it this is his worst result so far this year other than being punted off through no fault of his own) is "embarrassing" what do these critics say about the guy who finished in fourth....or sixth for that matter?

As for the race it was pretty exciting for a change....Lorenzo managed the race and his tires perfectly and deservedly got the win. His passing was first class and his speed impressive. Yam seem to have sorted out some of the issues he has been having and it looks like this championship could go down to the wire....lets hope for some good battles along the way.

Dovi again proved his value to the team with another consistent ride and a deserved podium - glad to see he has no qualms about sticking it to Stoner....good ride and good to see no team orders at play
<

Casey looked unhappy at getting third which is why he is such a formidable opponent...even when he wins he is still looking for improvement and this is one of the reasons he has more wins than any other rider since he joined the premiere class. He gave due credit to both guys who finished ahead of him today but probably felt he should have won that race....he obviously had some setup issue but damage limitation was the name of the game today and he has yet to finish off the podium this year except for his aforementioned DNF.

Spies and Sic had a good battle and were pretty evenly matched but were off the ultimate pace of the top guys today.

Rossi did as best he could considering his lack of dry setup time on essentially a new bike...surely things can only improve as they gather more data.

Finally to ALL the zealots who continually fan the flames of hatred I just want to say a big .... you very much
<

I think the same can be said about fans of many other sportsmen. Not wanting to start a ... for tat but can you remember the amount of stoner fans that joined here in 07 never to be seen again after mid-season 08. Hayden fans that vanished during 07 ect. These are the people who support only the person/team that's winning and they don't just wear yellow. Plenty of yellow wearing fans that can hardly be accused of supporting only a winner
<

Those fans are the cash cows, & like Rog said "....'em."

The race itself is case in point of why you must stay (watch) to the bitter end of any sport, because you just never know.

Spies pass on Simoncelli must have felt sweet!

Good post and i agree. I also think you are trying to take the moral high ground to some extent !

Agree Rog, and there are many fans of Vale who love the sport first and foremost and so appreciate and follow the man for his talent. But I've never heard or seen a Hayden fan or a Hayden fan boo another rider or en-masse leave a circuit early. Perhaps in the case of the latter there aren't enough of them to be noticed
<

What a great race. Well unless you watched it on speed tv. Then it was lame as usual. Great ride by Jlo and Dovi. Casey blew his load early and passed it off on tire pressure.
<
And if this is the results Dovi's fedora gets him then I say keep rocking it. But it still wont get you a job a repsol next year. Sorry bro they like winners and spaniards.

And are you sure the fans were leaving early and not going to warming up there scooters for the massive track invasion?
