It simply wouldn't happen Arrab...maybe the odd zealot might leave but when you make the effort of getting to the Island from up to 1000's of clicks away you make the most of it when you are there....especially at such an awesome circuit.
I cant ever recall riders being booed at an Oz GP either....Biaggi got a bit of good natured heckling the year he carried on like a ........ and claimed the "win" at Catalunya after being black flagged but he still got ample respect for his efforts of taming the track.
To be honest all the hate directed at Stoner, Lorenzo, Hayden, Rossi, Pedrosa and Simoncelli is a hard thing to swallow - as a dedicated race fan I am appalled by all this unwarranted negativity. I have no problem with constructive criticism when its due but the constant stream of venom and spite they endure is really beyond the pale....look at the bitching on here again about Stoner's performance today. Quite pathetic - but it really says more about the small minds doing the venom spitting than the riders themselves. If getting another podium result (and lets face it this is his worst result so far this year other than being punted off through no fault of his own) is "embarrassing" what do these critics say about the guy who finished in fourth....or sixth for that matter?
As for the race it was pretty exciting for a change....Lorenzo managed the race and his tires perfectly and deservedly got the win. His passing was first class and his speed impressive. Yam seem to have sorted out some of the issues he has been having and it looks like this championship could go down to the wire....lets hope for some good battles along the way.
Dovi again proved his value to the team with another consistent ride and a deserved podium - glad to see he has no qualms about sticking it to Stoner....good ride and good to see no team orders at play
Casey looked unhappy at getting third which is why he is such a formidable opponent...even when he wins he is still looking for improvement and this is one of the reasons he has more wins than any other rider since he joined the premiere class. He gave due credit to both guys who finished ahead of him today but probably felt he should have won that race....he obviously had some setup issue but damage limitation was the name of the game today and he has yet to finish off the podium this year except for his aforementioned DNF.
Spies and Sic had a good battle and were pretty evenly matched but were off the ultimate pace of the top guys today.
Rossi did as best he could considering his lack of dry setup time on essentially a new bike...surely things can only improve as they gather more data.
Finally to ALL the zealots who continually fan the flames of hatred I just want to say a big .... you very much
