Whoever made the choice for Martin to go out on the soft rear should be immediately fired. Why is he taking risks? Thats what you do when you are Marc and you have nothing to lose. Martin has everything to lose. He had the pace to win on equal tires. There was absolutely no reason for this.

Congratulations to Zarco! Well deserved. I was sure it was never going to happen but couldn't be happier that it did. What a great last lap.

Great to see Zarco finally take one. Fabulous D, very impressive. Bags, finally got his head out of his ....
Martin, once again, showing he's just all adrenalin and testosterone. No concept of tactics or capacity to think on his feet. Could have saved some of that tire for the last of the race, but instead just ran like a rabbit on fire. Kenny Roberts always said that the guys who win big, do it by using their brain, not their balls.

Solid race at PI with an awesome finale. Really happy for Zarco and his late charge. Very fun to watch, and a true display of skill at a riders track.

You know why this race was so good? Because tire strategy and race craft ultimately decided the outcome. Okay, Ducati locked out the podium, but the riders were making decisions in real time based upon the risk-reward circumstances that were unfolding before them. The more control the riders have, the more racing will continue to look this way. Sure, riders will occasionally dominate, and make races boring, but the GPC will move the riders around to keep things interesting. Rossi can go from Honda to Yamaha, but Ducati cannot give away the secrets of their speed to Yamaha (or vise versa as we learned in 2012).

It's important that the riders are in control of the races, regardless of how annoying this may be to the multi-billion dollar corporate overlords. In nearly every other form of sport the well-monied interests have found ways to profit and have indirect control of the spectacle without meddling aggressively in the actual sporting event. Despite its high-tech reputation, motorsport is still living in the stone age. Maybe things will change. We'll see. Motorsport is also they only sport where the teams profit from activities outside of the sport.

Anyway, fantastic conclusion to a good grand prix. We'll see what happens in the sprint tomorrow. You gotta figure the soft will go the distance, but the weather is not forecast to cooperate.

Zarco was quite subdued in his Parc Fermé chat with Simon. Happy to see him win. Could Martin have made it work if he had backed off a little while 3.5 seconds in the lead...or did he do that? Binder was pulling him in and then Martin responded but he had time to play with at that point. He needs to rethink his strategy (thanks, capt. obvious).

What a good performance from Joel Kelso, ran with the top three with a chance of a win, but a scare in turn 10 made him settle for a third, and he has a ride for next year.

Loved his chat with Cafar.

Joel tried so hard not to drop any F bombs but as bogans do, he could resist no further and man it is great to hear the excitement in the voice.

I was at race yestetday and today and a shout out to everyone who tried to give us full weekend, marshals doing their job in such horrible conditions and the m2 and 3 riders had a very difficult race today. Enjoyable weekend despite the weather. Still my favourite race of the year.

Team orders? When was that?
Middle east off memory. He followed his team mate around making no effort to overtake him, ending up a 1,2 for the team. He was asked in the podium post conference interview whether there was team orders and he didn't answer stating "it was the best result for team", providing the same answer twice

BTY Wildcat is NZ New Zealand? I lived there as a kid

Finally watched the race, worth the wait! Glad for Zarco. He had to pass Martin or he was going to get swallowed up himself. Martin is going to have to sit down with himself or somebody else and work it out for the future.

Love that Kenny Roberts quote about the brain and the balls!

Him depriving Bagnaia of 5 points rather than Martin getting 2 extra points for finishing 4th rather than 5th makes Martin’s position a net 3 points better.

Post race recriminations should look at who decided Martin should gamble on the soft tyre. He has been faster than Bagnaia let alone Zarco.

Missed the races due to work, and just now got to watch a re-run of the race on a TNT pirate stream.
Holy s***, that was just awesome. I was fully convinced that Zarco would never win in the Premier class, great to see him pull off a win before the inevitable disaster that's gonna be next year.
Fantastic performance by DiGiannantonio, glad he was able to reward himself with a podium. I'm a little heartbroken for Jorge though.
Phillip Island was already the best race last year but this one was even better. I've seen many great races but five riders under a blanket in the final lap was just incredible.

To go from 1st to 5th because someone had to get cute with the tires...
