Motogp Silly Season "tipping"Challenge

This thread really has taken a whole new meaning to silly season tipping!!

Didn't realise this was a wsbk v gp discussion. They are both great and they are both different. This is a biased forum to discuss such a topic. Do people actually compare touring cars with f1?

I have no idea who will get which rides but most of the people i would like in the 800s are there: Lollipop (also so Kallio can be world champ in 08), toseland and melandri on a duc.

The thing is that in Moto gp even though they use different cylinder formations, they are the same capacity.

"How can you compare a V8 Supercar to a V6, V4?"

Well if they all have the same engine capacity, why not compare them?

Mr. Phleg...and Please I don’t want to be disrespectful to you!!!...but please “READ MY LIPS”!!! I’m NOT COMPARING “V8's to a V6's, V4's????”...

But phleg this is exactly ‘What I’m Saying Mate!!!” “YOU CAN’T COMPARE!!!”...but in the WSB’sSERIES... they do and they have done this ever since "DAY ONE"!!!...

You know that when the WSB’s started they gave Ducati the advantage of having a 900cc over a 750cc from any of the Jap’s manufacturers...and there was a ratio made the Ducati’s allways have an advantage as long as the Ducati used the 2Win’s...so what do you think the Dukes did over the years!!!???...BBaa,BBaa,BBaa...

They USED 2Win’s!!!...”WELL phleg I think it’s about TIME THAT TAHT CAME TO A BIG!!! BIG!!! BIG!!! END!!!”...Thant is ALL THAT I”M SAYING!!! And then and ONLY then will the WSB get Any Credibility!!!

Cheers mate

You're missing the point by so far that if it had been a target on the shooting range, you'd have hit the one five targets along!
Nicky Hayden has won a world championship. He doesn't need to win another one to prove himself, one championship win is one more than 9/10th's of the current grid will ever be able to claim.

Sorry BUT I beg to differ here with you Racer!!! Nicky’s WC’p WAS A WIN!!! BUT???? Please It’s never going to be as GREAT IF Stoner wins IT!!! Or the way Mr’s Haywood, Agostini (to a certain extent I will include him too???) Sheene (was a legend, a true LEGEND!!!), Lawson (was a rider like no other and Eddie rode to demolish all before HIM!!!!, Gardener ( was our Aussie battler and he proved it on track and off!!! He will be remembered as the TRUE AUSSIE BATTLE AXE!!!) Rainey (was a wiz, a master of reality!!!...probably the best rider that I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!), Doohan (The most courageous champion without any doughty of his courage and his ability to win and keep on winning!!!), Rossi (The most amazing, entertaining, humorous, non shallot champion that the world has ever seen..and a real gentleman, funny guy and valentine has really brought motoGP to the masses and the female factor all over the world!!!..What my wife is in love with the guy!!!...lol) and now we come to the FUTURE champion Mr. Stoner (now I know I will be so controversial in saying this but I will put Mr. Stoner in this list!!!...maybe he’s unfortunate that he has to coincide, follow from the GREATEST Mr. Rossi but he’s still a great rider...he has personality, charisma but one thing... “He will never have the simpatico that Mr. Rossi HAS!!!...

You are doing it again. You real off a list of world champions and legends, then tack the current championship leader onto the list because you like him. You are getting ahead of yourself. Furthermore you are completely convinced that Hayden is a nobody and Stoner will be remembered as a "true" champion and that is a possibility, but what if Hayden is remembered as the rider who finally de-throned Rossi and Casey is just the guy who won in the transition year because he had the best bike. Only time will tell how these guys will be remembered, so relax a bit and take what we have for what it is.

Not often I'll say this but I agree with you 100% here Tom!

Well our series started in 1995 and has been the highest profile national series since then. Kagayama, Hodgson and Bayliss have all mae successful world championship careers after gaining BSB experience. In the same time frame Australian superbikes has produced Andrew Pitt.

There is no point here because you haven't produced world champions in anything. I think Bayliss and Kagayama may have gained some experience riding bikes in their home series before going to British supers. And as for Foggy being greatest WSBK rider of all time I note that later on you say ducati's always have a distinct advantage when it comes to world superbikes so there goes most of his "greatness"!

Stoner used to be in BSB, and he never won any of the titles...

And it's produced Toseland and Hodgson...two world class SBK riders and champs.

But doesn't Bayliss also ride a Ducati? There goes a lot of his greatness

I never said Bayliss was the greatest of all time!

1. You seem to be confused between rating the quality of a nations riders and the quality of their national championship. Australia for example provides a lot of very good riders, but they all leave to cut their teeth in the World or British superbikes or go straigt to GP's. The fact that riders come from elswhere in the world to ride in BSB is testiment to how strong, significant and competative the series is.

2. Ducati did hold an advantage throughout the history of superbikes but they also monopolized the best riders (except Edwards and Lil John), and Foggy beat them quite convincingly.

I recall Stoner racing 125's in England but was never on a superbike as far as I recall!

So he was in England, in a BSB support race.

Where does your arguement go now?

Stoner was also in Spain at the same time coming second in both championships - where does YOUR argument go?

Perhaps that our national series is as good as the Spanish one!

Nowhere, except the fact you said our series hasn't produced any champions, and by chance it seems to have (joint) produced the current moto GP championship leader who everyone seems to be in a fuss over.

I recall that this debate was about the British superbike series not the British 125's? Stoner didn't compete in a British superbike race!!

I recall you used the British racing scene as a step to attack us from...so I used a series in Britain, with a certain rider, as an example to defned myself.

Does it hurt knowing that Stoner cut his teeth here in Ol' Blighty?

As I have said before ... Rossi 5, Hayden 1, everyone else ... didly ....! I don't count KRJR ... he has gone walkabout! Hopefully Casey willc hange that sometime in the next 7 races but until then ....

Casey "cut his teeth" riding dirt track in Australia ... that is where his talent developed.

One year in a 125 championship in the UK or Spain is not the sole reason he is where he is now. His major learning years were with Luccio!
