Perhaps because that is pretty much what Honda and MM said themselves, what Pedrosa has complained about, and what race direction penalised him for.

If he was attempting a pass then it wasn't on imo, and analogous to Rossi at Jerez 2011,  a case of ambition exceeding talent, great though that talent might be.

No .... even then it was just close racing and .... happens.

I don't understand the obsession with Repsol - looking at their published figures, their total involvement is about Euro1.3M for the HRC team - they don't sponsor the series, they don't own Dorna, they don't employ anyone in any management capacity in the FIM.

Why would what Repsol (a minor player in European petroleum, let alone at a world level) wants matter in the least?

Well you don't see Russians selling Vegemite do you. I always think its a bit odd when Repsol hires non-spanish riders. Though to their credit when Stoner signed they did try and sell oils here.

Michaelm, I'll grab Jum's long bow call out... the knife to the heart analogy is really stretching it! More appropriate would be: a man runs down a street trying to make an important appointment and bumps into another pedestrian, knocking him down. The person accidentally knock down subsequently dies from an undiagnosed congenital heart defect or some sort of rare aneurysm.

While the pedestrian "running" on a sidewalk that is used for 'walking' has been spotted running often disregarding other pedestrians walking.  Often told to walk, because running can lead to somebody getting hurt.

I'm with you on MM's past transgressions, having been a big Wilairot fan. Unfortunately I also believe in redemption and change!

Where I'm from we call it a footpath. And you are welcome to run on it.

No they didn't.

Just like in the late nineties, when Mick was on a Repsol painted bike, the likes of Ron Angel or one of the other importers of marginal muddaboik bits started bringing in boxes of the stuff. Which sold badly. Snagged some free gearbox oil though.

The issue is one of direct or indirect causation as my analogy implies... MM on Wilairot = direct causation. MM on DP = indirect causation.

Except in my analogy, there was a understanding it was used to "walk" (for obvious reasons).

In said analogy, does the man who fell over and died, did he fall over on his own?

I am well aware that it is a long bow, which is why I didn't post it previously. However since someone making the opposite argument  saw fit to use violence against women as an analogy, I saw no reason for further restraint.

Contact not due to any error of Dani's and due to MM either being too close for no good reason, or (less likely but more deserving of criticism) an unfeasible overtaking move took Dani out of the race and finished his remaining hopes for the championship, if we are to stick to the concrete and GP bike racing. It was not really in MM's control whether he hit the cable or the back wheel a few inches away in any case. As I have said, I wouldn't have penalised him for this particular incident because he tried to avoid collision  after his error and almost succeeded. Dani is entitled to be annoyed though imo.

No sorry but they did ( Try to market it here when Stoner was racing on their team ) ....... I did not mention what they did in Doohans days as I was unsure, even though it reinforces my point.

I did not proffer that the Stoner episode was the first as you may be asserting.

Hayden's engine lunching itself. Apparently that was his fresh engine, so only well used engines left for the rest of the season.

With my one addition I agree with you completely michael. The real issue of the whole smozzle to me is the repeat offender aspect. If MM ever had another Wilairot-like incident, or choped another front wheel like he did to ?Espagaro? I'd say ban the ...... for a year, his recent transgressions say to me his IS maturing... Maybe his ambition outweighs his (prodigious) talent! LOL!

There's an easy answer to all this; who were the Repsol importers? Have a go.

Looked but can't find official attendance for this yr. I'm guessing near 100,000 for Sunday... my perception only but it seemed way busyier than last yrs 77,000. 30,000 first yr I went in 06 for perspective!

They said 80k on tv. They also said thats a lot more than it draws for F1. They said when motogp first went to sepang there were only around 5k spectators and this 80k crowd shows how the sport is explodong in popularity there.

Last yrs figure was 77,000... Felt like more than 3,000 more this year, especially larger I the hillside grandstands. Could be just a perception though.
