If CV could just qualify that little bit better he'd be at the front most races! Damn I wish I was going to the Island this year - see the new world champion and CV fighting right at the front! Gonna be a huge crowd there this year.

Ill be wearing my CV bucket hat proudly down at the Island.
Cant wait

They have increased the grand stand capacity at the Island by 40% to cater for the crowds this year ... they are expecting the biggest ever attendance at the Island ...bigger even than the Doohan glory years!

PI will be interesting for the Suzuki's. It was one track where they tended to be down the grid. Even in testing earlier this year, the Suzuki's were having problems, where at the other circuits they were topping the time sheets.

(I know CV got his first podium there last year, but it was in the wet)

PI will be a real test to see where Suzuki are at.

As for the weekend past, not to sound biased. Great ride by CV & Hopper. Lets hope this puts this rubbish about CV being a wet weather rider to bed.

Maybe it's time I trade the Blackbird in on a Busa.

Everyone is going on and on about how Stoner is not a great rider. Stoner has been one of the guys who has had the lesser equipment for years and have produced or fought for wins.

In the 250s, he did not have equal equipment to Pedrosa but he most definitly made his prescene known. Pedrosa and Rossi have had tyre, equipment and factory support that a lot of other guys have not.

This year is the year that an equally talented rider has finally had great support behind him. Look where that has placed Stoner.
Also, let's not forget that Capirex is on the same bike, with the Same factory support. Compare the Results.

My question to the naysayers- Is Melandri a better rider than Stoner? Will Melandri out perform Stoner next season?
Remember Gibernau and Checa were instantly fast on the Ducati thus Melandri shouldn't need to make many adjustments.

My take - Ducati has built one heckuva machine. In the right hand, a very capable rider with good tyres, the team is very tough to beat.

Next Year Stoner/Melandri will have a tough but successful season. Team Yamaha will finish again ahead of Repsol Honda and Fiat Yamaha.

Stoner will sit ahead of Pedrosa and Melandri in the championship.

.....
now let's enjoy Stoner's break through season and march to the world championship....

Dion, an4rew, whirlpool- whats the weather like on planet Rossi, coz you don,t seem to be existing in this world. I am stunned by the madness/ lunacy/illogicity (Ben please edit out any offensive words) of your statements. Even Tom had to make a timely reply. I just don,t understand the extraordinary bias behind such statements. When Rossi was winning, he had the best bike ,the best tyres and the best team manager. Yamaha was a challenge for Rossi that proved his greatness. Well how about a bit of recognition for Stoners efforts. He is not only winning, but making the rest of the field look second rate! The races are "boring" because nobody can challenge him in his current form. He is miles ahead of all 3 other ducatis. I am also curious as to how Melandri compares with him next year, but I suspect stoner will be more than a match for him also. It will also be interesting to see how capirossi goes compared with CV, because , if he is close, that will also reinforce Stoners greatness.

I know it can never happen, but i wouldn,t mind seeing Rossi and Stoner swap bikes for a race (giving them a week to get used to the different machines. I suspect the result would shock all you Stoner cynics.......
......or maybe get Ducati to produce 19 identical 800s on Bridgestones and have all the guys race together (like a r6 cup race). I know who my money would be on!

and to further contradict the rubbish written on this forum by a few "know nothings", here is what Paul Denning from Suzuki had to say about Casey after the race;

Paul Denning - Team Manager:

"Rizla Suzuki would also like to congratulate Casey Stoner on another unbelievable performance today. There has been a lot of nonsense spoken in MotoGP this year regarding tyre regulations, engine performance, etc. etc. I believe that the difference at the moment is Casey and we're focusing our best efforts to improve our own performance to beat him and that's what everybody should be doing at this time!"

Plus.......great rides by Melandri and Elias
CV finally doing good in the dry. Till now, he has performed a little worse than I expected, but perhaps it does take years to fully learn tracks. Here ,he was on a level footing with the rest of the field and showed his relative speed.
Westy was a a bit disappointing, considering his own ambitions this race (expected to fight with the leaders) Still he is a better bet for Kawasaki than DePuniet. Perhaps with off season testing he can do better next year.

PS> I am booked in at PI this year-grandstand seats at Lukey heights( would have preferred Siberia , but was sold out). It should be HUGE.
I have been the last few years also, but wasn,t sure about this year. MINUS-too crowded to move or see much.
PLUS- history in the making. See the arrival of the new world champion.
As a sideline will Stoner keep the 27 plate or use the number1 ?? I suspect the latter: Ducati would like that.

PS2: Mark S- You,re well overdue to replace the Blackbird. My advice - check out the kWacka zx1400. All the refinement of the Blackbird with better everything-power, brakes, clutch, gearbox, comfort). I had a Busa and this is waaaaaaay better. The only fault is due to those unnecessary secondary butterflies which rob power under 6000rpm. I removed them myself and corrected the air-fuel ratios via power commander and custom tune ($600). Now a magnificent bike.

Muzzy, I'd love to go, but the following weekend I'm flying from Brisbane to Perth for a 2 week holiday I've had planned for months otherwise I'd seriously go!

Bunyip, thanks for the tip. I am still happy with the Bird so I will keep it for a little longer.

Mate with Chris Vermuelen, I saw a difference in him last night, way more agressive off the line and pushing from the first corner, in place of getting blocked in and making a charge from the middle of the race. A little like his 2nd year in WSBK, where he was the runner up to Corser.

I am a huge CV fan, since his supersport days. I think that Hopper had the edge up until last night. CV really showed what kind of rider he is, and the comments from Tom O'Kane about Chris still leaning tracks and how they expect him to make a huge charge next year to be correct.

Seems Bazz, did have an eye for talent.

As for PI, I was planing on taking the Bird down for the Barry Sheene ride and stay with friends who live on the Island. My Wife booked the family holiday to Tasmania at the same time. So I will be stuck watching it on TV.

I would be a bit annoyed with your wife for doing that! Denying you your PI escape!

But if that is your wife on that Blackbird in your avatar I would forgive her anthing. Anything, anytime.

Very misleading

the top 2 michelen riders and rossi were out of the race within the first few minutes so not much can be read at the bridgestones performance this round.

wasnt checa on michelins, was right up caparissi's ... all race

Kallio?... also throws it into the scenery in spectacular style

I think the lack of setup time had a lot to do with these - certainly for Kallio, did you see the front chattering going into that corner?! he hadn't got it sorted in the time available. Also luhti was off track 3 times. Guess it's the same for everyone though.

Looks like a few more people agreeing with this thread.

http://www.motogpforum.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=5542

Boring race! I want to see somebody challenge for something! The only time I saw that was a couple passes between West and Elias.

Like I said in that thread...you might as well turn the race off after the first lap or two. Snoozefest.

If you find these races boring why do you bother watching them? Why don't you just appreciate a young rider having a spectacular season in only his second season in the top class or just "edited"!

I'll say it for the 3rd time this weekend, if you cant post opinions without having to post insults - go elsewhere please

A few random reflections.

I think rossi went with the new engine because he wanted to win and thought he had no chance of doing so without it. He has never been happy to ride just to be competitive.

Awesome effort by melandri and he will be seriously fast on the ducati next year. I think he will beat stoner in individual races but can't see him having the focus, absolute intensity and consistency to beat stoner over a whole season.

I can see how the racing at the moment is boring for non-stoner fans, but some seem to be blaming stoner for this. What do you expect him to do?
Having said this, it would be nice to see evidence of a sense of humour. If he does go on to a period of dominance, it will be as a cold-blooded killer in the doohan mode rather than with the style of rossi with his trademark bravura performances. I would have to agree the latter ultimately stirs the blood more over a period of time.

Perhaps as others have said it was unwise to change both the engine formula and the tyre regulations at the same time, and (particularly now stoner looks like winning barring misfortune) I would support changing the tyre regulations, getting rid of traction control etc to get back to closer racing. However I hope people are equally vociferous next time honda are dominant which has been the usual situation during the time I have followed bike racing.
