So you only need 3 good performances over the course of 2 years to be good in the dry. You're nuts!!!! So by that logic someone who wins three times over the course of two years must be a winner?!
<
Uh oh, sounds like some CV loving Australians are going to have to eat some humble pie
<

I agree, people said CV was a wet specialist (and Laguna) only because it was true. There has now been a change in his form and hes moved up a level in the dry, so the tag becomes irrelevant. This does not change the fact that it used to be the case, hopefuly though his form continues.

Typical whinging poms ... you wouldn't know a good rider if you saw one ... probably because you don't ever see them in your country ... well none that hale from your shores!

Before anyone jumps down my throat ... I have every right to say that when ridiculous comments like these are posted here!

The great man himself ! Oh and British ! But your right crusty, no greats hale from these shores.
I think maybe we should compare how many British riders are in the MotoGP hall of fame to how many aussies are in it ?

I think you should be asking yourself when you will ever see another rider from your shores that has even the slightest chance of ever getting a peak at what a MotoGP Hall of Fame membership might be like!

I can see nothing on the horizon from where I sit!

These two have more titles than the entire continent of Australia.

Cute little Australia. They try so hard.

Hey Lexi... great wind up!!
<
<
<

Unfortunately true though at this point
<
Although it should be "equal to" by years end!

Let's see... Spencer = 2, Roberts Snr = 3, Lawson = 4, Rainey = 3, Schwantz = 1, Roberts Jnr = 1 & Hayden = 1 for a total of 15 premier class championships by Americans. Now that's impressive...

For the Aussies, well we have Gardner = 1, Doohan = 5, and hopefully Stoner = 1 for a total of 7 premier class championships by Australians. Not too shabby by the "cute litte Australia"

But looking at it from another perspective...

United States 280 million approx population.

Australia 20 million approx population.

This means that the US has had 1 World Champion per 18,666,666 head of population.

and it also means that Australia has had 1 World Champion per 2,857,142 head of population.

It means that you could argue that Australians have a 6 times better chance of producing a World Champion wouldn't you say??
<
<

Not serious guys but it just proves that you can make statistics say whatever you want them to...
<

I assume that Italy has had the most World Champs so far??

Thanks for typing that Muzz ... I was going to do the "average titles per capita" stat but couldn't be bothered!
<

Italy has 18 MotoGP/500 championships since 1949!

GBR has 17 ... however the last one was 30 years ago with Barry Sheene ... They are obviously not in it for the long haul!

Someone said that PI will show how Suzuki are developing. Double podium boys that is how they are developing. I would have loved to have Melandri on the GSV-R next year. Then you would see some team competition. CV looks like he is stepping up and maybe as lead developer he will fine tune things to his specs and be a front runner.

I guess that was me.

I hope Suzuki can get over PI because in all the early tests this year, Suzuki blitzed them, all except at PI where they seemed to have problems with grip, something that did not happen at other test tracks. I hope they have overcome those issues at PI, because I think one of the roiders may challenge for 3rd position.

As far a CV developing bikes. Look at his efforts with Ten Kate in it's first 2 years in WSBK. His second season in the championship with Ten Kate and the 4 cyl Honda and they finished 2nd behind Troy Corser. They flogged the world champion at that time on the Factory Ducati. I think James Toseland efforts over the past 2 seasons were helped by the early development by Chris Vermeulen.

IMHO CV has a very rare skill in being able to work with his engineers in being able to relay what the bike is doing. Another ride who has this skill is Rossi.

so in your arrogance you will discount Toseland before he has even thrown a leg over a motogp bike. give him a season to find his feet and land a top factory ride like your boy stoner before you pass judgment.

I agree, given how well things are going for CV right now i would expect an open minded attitude about JT taking a very similar path.

Anyone wanna bring up the stats for how many World Championships Italians have won, & make us all look like tossers?

Puts on JT tinfoil hat

PUHLEAZE!
<

Yeah, JT had a ...... 05, he was the test mule for Ducati's electronic package, and it all seemed to go wrong for him somewhere at the end when Lanzi had his 15 mins of fame.

As for CV making JT's bike great, pah, JT is using a different version Fireblade as opposed to CV's, although the changes in the road version were minute, the 05 and 06 bikes differed greatly...and when did CV have to develop traction control for his bike?

takes off JT tinfoil hat

Sorry.

Misano race? Erm, snoozefest, but I loved the Cripple vs Aussie fight down the field, best racing of the weekend.

Honestly ... I actually like Toseland ... especially his attitude and aggressive riding this year ... his riding has definitely reached a different level this year!

I hope he does well next year! Truth!

These forums are like a game of tennis ... somebody serves up rubbish so you return with a volley! It's all just a bit of fun!

I saw the front chatter, Kallio got off line (which many had said was very slippery) and high sided as soon as he opened the throttle. I was under the impression a puncture was a result of the crash not the cause of it.

Oh my, we agreed on something. Don't we normally disagree?!

probably, but i'm growing fond of kallio. His approach to this season has impressed me a lot, and he is quickly starting to look like KTM's mumber one and the best rookie out there. Shame about this weekend.

Dion...with all due respect to you and the ALL THE BRITISH!!! greats of the past mate....and I really mean this in a very humble and respectful way!!!...

But Dion DID YOU KNOW???...that nobody ever said that “no greats have haled from the motherlands...shores”...what we’re saying in probably every post when it comes to the Brit’s is this:

That “No Greats HAVE Hailed from the motherland shores in the last???...Let Me Think???...34, 35 years...Ever Since The Great and the
One and Only Mr. Barry Sheene!!

And if the Brits can produce or even come close to such a great rider ans a gentleman as Barry was then motoGP would have such an advantaged for it!!!...

But Dion...motoGP & Australia & the world for that matter have such a young and great gentleman in Casey Stoner I would have thought 99% of the riders in motoGP, approve of Mr. Stoner!!!...with what we have had between Val & Max, Mick & Alex etc etc...

I think 2007 has been very civilised and how it should be in sport!!!...and I’m especially speaking about the wonderful and gracious Mr. Valentio Rossi!!!...he’s such a great man and rider and all us Casey Stoner fans wish valentine all the best and a SPEEDY RECOVERY for the YAMAKA & Michy!!!...so that we can have those wonderful contests once again between Val & Casey & the rest for that matter now!!!

But as far as the Brits are concerned James is such a terrific guy and a gentleman to boot also!!!...So the Brits have a chance???!!!

So Dion...and also did you know??? That Mr. Dion was a pop artist whose greatest hit was “The Wonderer”!!!...and Dion I think that you’re wondering a bit far now with comparing the past and present of the British legends!!!...we all know that the British were legends when the sport was not VERY WELL COVERED!!!...or...Internationally known or it was virtually impossible for some of the greatest from around the world to get to Europe where all the action was happening!!!..a classic example was Mr. Honda!!!...who went to Europe to start the real competition!!!...and if it wasn’t for Mr. Honda & all the Japanese factories that followed then???....it would have been a closed shop to the Mv’s and whoever else came along from Europe only!!! we might have had a Harley as world chips or champs...
<
...

We respect the past CHAMPIONS!!! Dion!!!
<

btw: did you know that in 1974, 1975, 1976 & 1977 Walter Villa rode for the Harley Davidson team in the 250cc class???
