With more variety the racing would be more interesting, what we have now is 1000cc 4 cylinder bikes with the same electronics and same tyres, all taking the same lines, all braking/getting back on the throttle at the same time and this in my opinion is what is causing this win it at all costs mentality you see today where they punt the other rider off line because the performance is so similar it's much harder to make a pass now.
