Gran Premio Michelin® de la República Argentina 2022

If I learned something about the ducs, is that you can't judge them until the European rounds. But Pecco's demeanor is bothering me, he needs to be mentally stronger if he wants to be a champion, he's not a kid learning the ropes anymore. Again Ducati acting like fools by resigning riders way too early.

Pecco’s demeanor right now is indeed showing his lack of top mental fitness. I suspect he will come around and get to work.

What a race. Aleix had me on the edge of my seat, especially when he'd pass and then run too deep on the brakes. I got worried he was going to push it over the limit. Happy for him and Aprilia. I really hope this is a sign of things to come.

Congrats to Aliex for winning his first GP and bringing home Aprilia's first win in the premier class, as well.

Unfortunately, the race was not particularly entertaining. The riders were struggling for grip and contorting themselves in all sorts of shapes to coax an extra tenth out of the bike. The midpack melee was as entertaining as always, but the Martin-Espargaro battle captivated the tv directors.

The championship is wide open. Looking forward to Jerez and the start of the European races.

Ditto. Great to see his and the teams' reaction.
Making the interview wait while he called his wife and his brother came up and congratulated him during the interview. :)

Classic Spanish Drama, he could have totally waited until after the interviews & save some face but whatever. Its his moment after all.

Aleix did so well & the Aprilia indeed seems like a well sorted bike, it has speed, stability and now doesn't cook itself in every race.

I'm just bummed MotoGP has turned into a bit of a lotto, depending on the track they can perform so well and so bad for so many reasons.

Used to be a time when a good bike was a good bike, yeah it could be more or less favorable here and there but not go from top to .... in the span of 2 weeks.

200 races in the premier class to get his first win.
Human drama maybe, but well justified after such a journey. I enjoyed seeing the passion. I saw it as genuine.

Yeah a very good ride, as he said, significant pressure to get the result.

Aprilia says its MotoGP win came too Early

Per usual the interesting developments occur after the race has concluded as the participants attempt to insert narratives (paradoxes?) into the public consciousness.

This one is definitely interesting. “We won too early in the season and now my job as expectations manager is less appealing than it was prior to Argentina”

Anyway, the useful Nugget is that Aprilia believe they benefitted from less practice time because the Aprilia does not alter settings that much during the weekend.

I thought that was a great race. Clean race for the top spot, congrats to Aleix, the victory was well deserved. Kudos to both riders for keeping it together, it didn’t look easy for either one.

You have to wonder what is going on at the factory Ducati and Yamaha teams.

Perhaps a realisation that he picked the wrong bike/engine might be involved.

Aprilla and KTM doing well just makes me think about how hobbled the other manufacturers are.

Not prototype bikes imo.

The biggest problem these "prototype" bikes have is not knowing how the tire will perform. Everybody is complaining about lack of grip left and right. 7 seasons of Michelin and they still can't make consistent, predictable tires. I'm afraid Michelin is the biggest reason we have surprise winners every race, more than standarized ECUs and other equality measures.

First the saturday night specials, then a pirelliesque approach to quality control on a control tire. How do you .... up a control tire anyhow.

This is about gaining traction in every sense. Cant have someone involved who can't be trusted to not .... up a cup of coffee without the fuzz spilling everywhere soiling my shirt. Some people think the fatman should let it go. To be frank, I'm a little concerned.
#22, Mick.... someone of youse should talk to the guy. Tell him if Aprilia, ktm, ducati or any of those ..... steal another win then thats that.

I think Michelin was told to make the racing close and unpredictable hence the ....... up of a control tire.

This is shades of the 2012 F1 season when there were 7 different winners in the first 7 races. But once the top teams got a handle on how the tires operated that year, a pecking order was established.

I hate control tires in racing. It's dressed up under the guise of being about "fairness" but you can't make a tire that suits every machine. Instead everyone is designing to the tire and right now we're seeing some teams unable to get on it. That Michelin changed the tire design to suit inline 4 engines should have led to a riot by the fanbase because this is basically tantamount to race fixing by giving a tire to a particularly designed motorcycle in order to try and give it an advantage over those that have different engine configurations.

I bet at the end of the day it all comes down to Carmelo and what he wants out of the product.

Well then maybe someone should pay him a visit and see how hes doing. He's way outta order sticking his beak in like that.
Sending bridgestone on a vacation? Only the full com..msma should be able to make that call.

My recollection is that Bridgestone withdrew of their own volition. As I recall they said in so many words that their time supplying control tires was for them a sort of research project from which they gained tremendous amounts of useful data, and at a certain point, they'd had enough of the critisism and whining from various parties which had made it, a fruitful data-wise but otherwise thankless undertaking.

This is all stupid. Tyrewars are the worst thing to happen to top level racing. The bridgestone were perfect when they found out how to speed up front tyre temp.

Should have put a gag on the riders. Control tyres as marketing could work in a post 46 landscape.

Your recollection is accurate.
