1. I find this hard to believe, i assume all the drivers are familiar with the concept of a race.

I agree with that!!

I don't think the drivers ''don't want to'' overtake. If that's true, it's really sad, cause they are there cause they want to race, and they get paid for it as well, don't think they just drive around as if it's something that needs to be done. Although, I have to say, at times you would indeed get that impression, but that's mainly cause the ''whole F1 circus'' is getting boring. We just don't see a lot of battles on track anymore..

Just read that Hamilton wont be testing tomorrow

I was really looking forward to seeing him. But i guess the only difference it will actually make to me is the colour of the helmet in the car as it wizzes past.

Aren't you going to the GP of Silverstone then?? You should go, all the Brits will go insane cause of Lewis. But the tickets are probably expensive..

Apparently its sold out already, and even if it wasn't its way too expensive for me to go. It'd cost the price of almost two motogp's

I can't say I'm shocked it's already sold out!
I think it's ridiculous that the tickets are so damn expensive

I might go to Spa this year, I want to go badly, but those tickets are just too expensive, so have to re-think the whole idea.

I dunno, if they've got there team on the radio telling them they're heavier on fuel and they will get them at the next round of pitstops, its possible they wouldnt bother overtaking. You both may be right, but with the loss of downforce and turbulence the cars experience when they get close to each other, maybe the drivers don't want to take the risk. It's sad, because overtaking is an artform, and I miss it

I'M GOING!!!

:D:D:D

It is expensive, £100 (not sure what that is in euros), and thats not even in a grandstand, although I prefer general admission anyway. But for me, its worth every penny. I think with F1, if you haven't been, fck the money, just buy the ticket. Just being near the sheer power of a Grand Prix car is an unbelievable experience.

Yea i agree. Why is it that we hear no talk of aerodynamics being an issue or possibilities of changing these rules? Am i missing something, do the teams love the aerodynamic stuff, is it considered the future, do other people not realize its the problem for the racing, and surely it makes the costs sky high? It just baffles me

Only a tenner, but its gonna rain and none of the big named drivers will show. Like you said i just wanna see/hear/feel the cars. If its really that good i might go to a race abroad next year and make a holiday experience out of it (probably barcalona/Spa/Monza/Turkey)

Nothing about it is ruined, only it's a shame it's in Belgium, and not in Holland, oh well..
All the drivers like Spa, cause it's a great track to drive on.

I was supposed to go in 04, but I decided to stay home, I expected another boring Ferrari/MS win, but Kimi won, wish I had gone!!

Sounds groovy, it definately remains on the list, is it expensive compared to other grand prix?

I often wonder the same thing. Mosley seems to want to change the engine format every friggin four years (which, when you think of the money they will have spent developing them, renders most of the cost-cutting measures pointless). The problem seems so obvious and they're doing nothing to change it? They even overturned the decision to bring back slick tyres, which would have been a great step forward, more mechanical grip and less dependancy on aero. A while ago they proposed a split wing (I'd upload a picture if I had one) that decreased the turbulence to the cars following and allowed effective slipstreaming. Yet it appears to have dissapeared off the face of the earth. If they impose a ban on winglets, chimneys and barge boards (which seems an obvious thing to do) they could bring back sculpted undertrays to compensate for the loss of downforce.

I once heard somewhere about making the drivers wait 15 seconds at their pitstop, before they are allowed to go. This actually isn't such a bad idea. It would essentially eradicate the advantage gained in the pits by those running longer stints (normally they wouldn't take as long to refuel). Maybe another idea would be to limit the amount of mechanics allowed to work on the car during the pitstop. I'm also all for more freedom in the engine department, allowing normally aspirated engines to race against the smaller turbocharged engines. It would be an interesting battle.

Another thing that annoyed me, when they had all the proposals for the 12th team for 2008 (which went to prodrive) there were ten other applications for a place in the world championship. They were all turned down because of a lack of garage space. Why can't tehy just bring back pre-qualifying for the worst few teams and allow more entries?

They give us a fan survey each year asking our opinions, and do bugger all with em.

Im seriously considering going to Spa, cos I'm not sure how long it'll be on the calendar. I'd like to see it before they inevitably leave again.

Valencia??
Jorge won his title that race, right???
I can't remember it tbh..I didn't watch all the 250cc races back then.

I have no idea how expensive the other GPs are, for me it's just close to home, less than 2 hours by car I think, and obviously it's just a great track!!

Yeah good call. The way i see it they should go back to slicks and maybe even wider cars for more mechanical grip, but reduce aerodynamics by a long way. The cars would slide more (excitement), go round corners slower (safety), follow each other well (passing) and be cheaper to develop. To keep the engineering geeks (me) happy, they just need to free up engine design a bit for some exciting ideas.

Exactly. Thats how it used to be and thats how it always should be. They need to get more privateers in, I miss the likes of Minardi and Jordan, the teams who really were in it for the love of it.

Yeah, i turned down seeing Lorenzo and Hayden win the world title, seeing the 990's race and missed out on seeing my family for the first time in ages. I still get angry about it now.

I had no idea Spa was that close to you thats soo lucky, if you don't go its a serious crime. I consider it easy for me to get to, so for you it just cannot be an issue. Go to it, i dare you

Exactly, i just think it'd work well, especially with the proposed reduction of electronics, it'd really bring the driver back into it in a big way. The engineering display would still be worth wile since its mostly engine technology that makes its way onto road cars from F1 (don't get me started on that renault advert). Furthermore if the reduction in speed was going to cause an issue with increased top speeds they could restrict the teams to 5 speed gearboxes so a top speed compromise was required to get a decent lap time.

Yes, true.
But some people in charge (I wont say any names, although it's obvious

) have the aim (or so it seems!!) to turn our beautiful sport into a circus, and we obviously still love it, how sad are we??? Sometimes I wonder why I'm watching, you usually know who's gonna win anyway, the guy on pole..
