As ive said before, Im just a fan and I don't really know what I'm on about. Bernie and Max must know what they're doing to be that high up in the sport. Its good to have the manufacturers on the grid, but you need a mix. The manufacturers will only use the sport as long as they need it, and they don't bother with the fans. I can remember going to the GP at Silverstone as a much smaller and less frightening ten year old and seeing a mass of yellow around the circuit (including myself) supporting Jordan. They wouldn't win the race, we all knew that, but they were in it for the love of Formula One, not for marketing. And they did give alot back to the fans, entertainment tents after the race and stuff.

I miss Jordan

Yeah, I do too. It was so weird to not see them in F1. It's all about money and marketing these days, and that's obviously not what the sport is about, and it's a bit painful to see what the whole thing is turning to. I know Bernie and Max are trying in their own way, but sometimes I really wonder if they really love the sport, it seems they only care about making money

i think they definately love the sport, but they have very different values and expectations of formula one compared to the average man (and you
<
). So they do things to ultimately help the sport which we find are totally insane and crazy, and to them our idea will be rubbish, because it may not be able to supply what they want the sport to be.

THEY SUCK..BIG TIME!!!
<

ok ok, maybe not, but it's not nice to see what F1 is turning to, people always talking about how boring it is, it wasn't like this forever. It used to be great, I'm not even talking about WAY back, but it was still great 10 years ago (even a few years ago). Whenever I watch old dvds, which is often, I cant help thinking it was so amazing back then, I understand they had to make a lot of safety changes, but some of the changes are just not here to make it better. Everytime I see Bernie, it's like he's thinking: money, money, money!! He's too old anyway, no disrespect or anything, but man, just leave...sorry..I'm getting all frustrated now..

Yes we all must accept the things we cannot change. It still sucks a bit, but nobody can take the past away from us, so you can just watch your old vieos and appreciate them even more.

I do appreciate it more, eventhough I didnt watch it live back then (since I was still a baby) I do love the 80's. F1 was so great back then!! Watching those old races makes me happy!!!

Damn, this forum is addictive..going to bed now!!!!

My report from silverstone testing is this.....

Silverstone is poor, it is easily the worst major track our country has to offer, but we already new that. The real surprise was that after i bought a genral admission ticket, i found out that admission was actually heavily restricted. We were not allowed to venture beyond the entrance to turn one or beyon the exit of the Abbey chicane, which was a real shame because i wanted to watch from a few places out the other end of the circuit.

Having been given this restriction we took our seats in the main straight grandstand and i was disappointed again to find that the cars didnt look particularly fast on the striaghts. The best part of our view was seeing the image of the cars reflecting from the offices above the pitlane as they rolled down to their garages in the sunshine.

The pleasant surprise i had was just how incredibly fast the F1 cars could go round the corners, it was simply incredible watching the cars get to the end of the main straight, waiting for them to break and then dicovering that they barely had to slow down at all.

The biggest name driver present was easily Kimi Raikonen, and you could see just how fast he was compared to the others. He was using all the kirb and most of the astro turf on the outside of the final turn every single lap without any major problems and that was great to watch. Sutil span in the middle of the complex, a few cars broke down and we saw a few lockups and good saves but really no real drama took place.

Overall it was a good day and easily worth my time and money, however i have no desire to go to silverstone any time soon and the british grand prix does not appeal to me at all anymore.

Did anybody else who has been to F1 and motogp think that the F1 cars seemed quieter??

I'm still so DAMN jealous of you Tom!!!!
I already figured you were going to enjoy it.

People told me the sound of the cars/engines are incredible to hear. I love the sound of the engines, but I only know it from tv
<
<

I guess I just have to experience it myself to know what they're talking about.

Btw, did you tell Kimi he should become champion this year?
Or was he too busy drinking??

I couldn't get close enough
<
. They put boards up when Kimi went into the pits so we couldn't see the cocktails he was drinking!! Whatever it was worked though because he was fast.

It would be difficult for any motorsports fan to not enjoy it really. One thing i particularly enjoyed was the shade of red the Ferrari is painted in. When the sun shone it looked so beautiful, and very different to what it does on the tv

I looked up the results as soon as I got home!!
Massa on pole, great to see Ferrari take another pole. Nice to see Lewis on front row

What happened to Alonso? Did he have some kind of problems in Q3???

I'm not sure what to expect from tomorrow's race tbh. It seems Ferrari made some progress, but if it will be enough is yet to be seen. I also think this track suits them well, so maybe they haven't really made a lot progress. I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

Hoping for a strong Ferrari performance, cause a McLaren win is not what the championship needs (imo).

That's a shame!! Hope he can fight his way back to the front. I'm sure he will. He's the champ and he has a great car, that + a good strategy should do the trick.

Yeah..
They really NEED to, they can't afford to let Mclaren win AGAIN!!
Hopefully they'll have a strong strategy AND Kimi better have a good start this time, as proven before, that's a crucial part!!

His strategy is crap since he can't change his fuel load because it was Q3, he will be much lighter than the guys inmediatly ahead and behind him.

Basically the only thing that can save him now is rain. Otherwise he's screwed, cause not only his gearbox broke down, but also had a sensor problem in the brakes in FP3 so he missed that too (could only do 1 full lap)
So his car is not set up.

But it gives Ferrari a better chance of getting one over Mclaren (or at least one of them)

C'mon Felipe!

I hope it rains tommorow, we need an exciting race. I have a feeling about Kubica if it rains, but otherwise I'd have to say Felipe, he seems pretty comfortable this weekend. I'm not sure what to think of Raikkonen at the moment, he said at the start of the weekend he was confident with the car, but he still isn't at the top. I'm not doubting his talent, we saw in '05 he was very quick, but if I were him I'd be starting to worry.
