What happened to Mladin's second start?!

Another stellar performance by Spies and well done to Hodgson for flying the British flag in third.

It's not just you, they're very slow.

Just read a rumor this morning that Ducati is planning on pulling out of AMA Superbike. Apparently it costs Ducati more money to pay BBoz and Hodgson ($700,000 and $1.4 million respectively) and run the team in America than it does to field Bayliss and Lanzi in a world championship. In addition to that, the AMA rules do not allow for lighter cranks so the 999 has been at a disadvantage stateside. Until the AMA falls in line with BSB and WSB spec rules so the 999 can be competitive, it doesn't look good for Ducati staying here.

Rumors coming from www.superbikeplanet.com suggest that the AMA is discussing adopting a Superpole style qualifying effort. The biggest problem facing the AMA is it's already cramped SBK weekend schedules filled with double headers. If Superpole were to happen, it would either be Friday afternoon or it would replace the Saturday morning practice session. The other rumor is that the AMA is also considering switching to the points system that the FIM uses for WSB and MotoGP. Both good ideas, I think.

yeah! GO HONDA! congrats to ya there hayfan!!!

Ducati announced Saturday night that they are pulling out of AMA Superbike in 2007. Ducati have cited high costs and uncompetitive rules for their V Twin 999R as reasons for the pullout. They are hopeful in finding some balance in the rules so they can return in 2008 or 2009. This should further cement Hodgson's move to WSB and leave enormous questions around Ben Bostrom's future in road racing.

oooooo ... we have an AMA thread? ... whoa, didnt know that

okay... AMA.... AMA ...

i can't watch it, no decent TV coverage over here.

my only news is that our aussie Adam 'Krusty' Fergusson looks to be rejoining the AMA ranks with a ride next season... he last raced there with... corona suzuki i think, in 2003, and looks to be coming backkkkkkkk.

i don't know any details though.

erm, go Mladin? ... hows he shaping up this season? or is Spies still kicking his ...?

I'll be pumped if Krusty comes back. Rumor has it the Corona team is switching to Honda power for 2007, it would only make sense for Honda backed Krusty to go to Corona Honda. Mladin is still riding well but Spies is still winning.

Got some 'Soup fresh off the stove with loads of rumors in the AMA.

Tommy Hayden and crewchief Joey Lombardo will be the third team at Yoshimura Suzuki replacing Aaron Yates.

Jamie Hacking could possibly replace the eldest Hayden at Kawasaki as Yamaha have signed contracts for DiSalvo and Bostrom to run SBK in 2007 and may not have the materials to run three factory Superbikes.

Aaron Yates to Jordan Suzuki or the rumored Parts Unlimited Honda (formerly Parts Unlimited Ducati).

Ben Bostrom and crwechief Gary Medley to the rumored Corona Honda team, the rumored Parts Unlimited Honda team (formerly Parts Unlimited Ducati) or to Jordan Suzuki.

Neil Hodgson is rumored to be going everywhere, every factory AMA SBK team seems to have an interest in the lone Brit in the series and his name is also tied to a Ducati WSB ride.

Leon Haslam's name has come up in connection with an AMA Superbike ride, no word as to which team.

Also, Michelin are planning on returning to a factory/semi factory effort in the states again.

You don't have to watch it. Here I'll tell you the results in podium places.
1-3 is always the same unless some freak catastrophe happens. The other 4-10 are always the same except the names may go up or down sometimes.

Here is my results guide for the AMA:

1 Suzuki Mladin/Spies
2 Suzuki Mladin/Spies
3 Suzuki Yates
4 Honda DuHammel
5 Kawasaki Tommy Hayden
6 Honda Zemke
7 Ducati Hodgeson
8 Kawasaki Roger Lee Hayden
9 Ducati Bostrom
10 Privateer Privateer

you saying it ain`t worth watching XB? Some countries would love to have a domestic series as good as yours. (Ethiopia, The Vatican, Iraq, Texas and Antarctica for example)

I love the riders in our series but the teams aren't on the same page. Hence, Ducati is pulling out. Suzuki are dialed in, AmHonda still haven't gotten their CBR1kRR sorted, Kawasaki are still working on the ZX10R and Yamaha will start from scratch with the R1 next season. It's a bummer when Spies and Mat are five seconds in front of the rest and a guy like Aaron Yates regularly beats talented riders such as Duhamel, Zemke, Hayden, Hodgson and Bostrom because of his bike. Just a frustrating deal.
