Don`t you think he should pace himself though? I mean, he sounds like the next big thing, but he shouldnt bite off more than he can chew so early. It might backfire. We had a kid down here in the national 125 GP, Blake Leigh Smith. Can`t remember the exact story but I think it was somthing along the lines of he won every race since his debut, then less than 3 months after his 1st road race, he was lining up on the 125 GP World championship grid at Phillip Island. I think he finished 36th. Gotta be patieint with the really young, promising ones.

He's already racing in Supersport so doing so for a factory can only help his cause. Gives him more competitive machinery and a true team around him so he can adapt to the circumstances quicker. It's what happens to young talent here, the real promising ones get snatched up by the factories to race Supersport and generally a big bore class outside of SBK. It's what happened to Eric Bostrom, Kurtis Roberts, Nicky Hayden, Roger Hayden, Ben Spies, Jason DiSalvo, Jake Zemke and it'll happen to Josh Herrin.

Yeah well I'm biased. I'm still holding out hope that Road America will get the GP once they make the changes to the facility.

Well I took a few on Saturday morning but forgot about the camera shortly after. I haven't even looked at them yet. I don't think there's going to be anything good but as soon as I get some free time I'll upload them and get them on the site. Sorry for the delay.

According to The Soup, Ben Spies will sign for Yoshimura Suzuki to race AMA SBK for another two years. Spies was to have a meeting with Suzuki and Yoshimura bosses last night to finalize the deal.

Why can Suzuki dominate like they do in AMA Superbike, but they are mid- pack to back markers in Moto GP.

Because they sell loads of GSX-Rs. Their MotoGP project doesn't create the sales that are involved in production based racing. Race on Sunday, sell on Monday.

I'd be surprised if that's how they finish in the race. Reports suggest that Ducati already have their traction control systems onboard and functioning so I think it's only a matter of time before the Parts Unlimited Ducati boys establish themselves up front. Also, Zemke was rather quiet in the Friday session. Very odd for another Laguna specialist, I think he'll find his way to the front by tomorrow afternoon as well.

Teams that don`t cheat (Like Honda) will take time to get their TC systems sorted under the new rules, so teams that cheat (Like Suzuki) and teams that try to cheat (Like Ducati) will have the advantage of fully sorted TC for a little while yet.

Spies' win extends his lead to 35 points, 426 to 391. Spies lead the entire race with Ben Bostrom in tow for much of the race before BB started suffering symptoms associated with heat stroke and faded to seventh. Bostrom required medical attention after the race and was given fluids. BB said he felt he had a real shot of winning the race until he got sick. This is the first podium for Tommy Hayden and Kawasaki in Superbike in 2006, congratulations guys!

fantastic to see so many different teams and bikes towards the front..

it's amusing to say the least that the ama decided to leagalize tc after it seemed that the cheaters were who they were. can u imagine the .... that would have hit the fan if they would have dissqualified suzuki & thrown out the their seasons results for cheating! HA!!!!!
<

I gave up following AMA till abit this year(Mainly for the Kawis, and next yr. Yams). I dont konw if anyone has mentioned about other ways yosh team has cheated(adjustable swingarm pivots) but this is turning into something other than what the class is to be based on...stock bikes....enough. Next I start bashing ama and it's spoiled child(Harley)...not ganna dooit!

I was sad to hear Spies resigning with yosh. He would be a way better rider in GP than any current ama superbiker IMO. He would also show Hopper how to ride and use the TC.

Spies IMO has so much talent. But maybe 2 more years in the AMA will be best for him, then making the jump to GP. I think thats what Hopkins did wrong. He was too young when he left. This will give him the time to develop more as a racer. After the 2 years with Suzuki here theres no doubt he'll make the jump.
