Short turn around week thankfully. Can always use another race back to back. Here we are in lovely Germany for Round 9 at the Sachsenring!

2023 MotoGP Race Winner: Jorge Martin - 40:52.449
2023 Pole Position Lap: Francesco Bagnaia - 1:21.409
2023 Fastest Lap: Johan Zarco - 1:21.225

What a year time makes. Last year MM broke his thumb in the morning warm-up and withdrew from the race. A year later he comes back as one of the favorites again to win the race on a Ducati. But I think Pecco is going to take this one. He's in superb form at the moment, and just needs to maintain the consistency he's been showing. Martin will be up there as well, but I don't see him outdueling Pecco over full race distance here. I guess either way we're going to find out how fast MM is at his once personal stomping ground. News of the day may very well be Remy Gardner getting the unexpected ride this weekend in place of Alex Rins. After 2 not terribly exciting races maybe the Sachsenring is where we'll get something good. Though the tire pressure situation is going to be interesting here.

I, like you, am not betting my house on Marquez winning, but hope there is a good battle for the wins.

If it comes to pass, I'm glad Remy is getting another crack.

Earlier in the season I thought this would be the track the Marc gets a win on the GP23. However the GP24 in the hands of Bagnaia and Martin seems like way to much of a hurdle even for Marquez. Bagnaia is dialed in on that GP24, and I think he runs away with this one as well.

Fabio Quartararo 2022 has entered the chat.

I don't disagree, but Fabio totally messed with Pecco that race. The fact he got to T1 first wasn't in Pecco's gameplan and caused his crash 2 laps later imo.

Pecco does seem like a guy that if you can get into his head, then you can throw him off his game.

I do agree with this. I'm waiting to see if he can be pushed into a battle early in a race where he can't just ride off to a safe distance and maintain.

It appears that they have the GP24 sorted so now its a little out of reach of the GP23 riders

Last year at Sachsenring the 8 Ducati's took out the first 9 places with only Miller spoiling a perfect score with his 5th

Agreed - Ducati track and likely to be the same this year. Can Martin repeat his results from last year to build a bit more of a buffer. If Bagnaia dominates here, then this is going to be a data point for predicting the play-out of the rest of the season, I think.

Far too many points still up for grabs. With the sprints, we have to wait for the flyaways for the mathematics.

One little injury and a rider can be 30ish points in deficit after just one weekend.

I'm not saying above that the championship would be done. But, if Bagnaia wins here, the odds will move in his favour. And, a tiny sliver more, I believe, than just what would be justified by the points movement for this round.

Will be interesting for sure. Looks like we will get a rain race on Sunday. I can’t remember a summer in 40years where it had rained more than 2024 (although its supposed to be the hottest year since 100.000 years according to some ........ people) so who will shine if its a wet race? I doubt it will be prosecco or martini

Maybe marc if he can keep it sunny side up
