Wow, this was a sprint directed by M. Night Shyamalan with so many twists. Intense and electric, the trio of Fernandez, Binder and Bagnaia must be pissed off, specially the latter crashing on the last lap. Marc top Ducati, didn't expect that, and he moves to the #2 in the overall standings!

Well done Aleix, even if the win was handed to him by the crashes.

Not having huge expectations. Just hoping that these races this weekend won’t be crash fests.
You didn't get your wish,

MM apparently damaged his front aero thing passing Miller straight after the start btw.

Yeah saw it on the replay, wing flew straight off which makes the race even more impressive.
A huge amount of luck for all the podium, given how many guys crashed out of first.

Wow the sprint no one wanted to win. Fernandez, Binder and Bagnaia all crash out of the lead. FBag is handing the championship to Martin on a silver platter, but Marquez is trying to keep it interesting.
Still many races to go. If MM rides in the mode of the year he won the title with the bad shoulder, one Sunday race DNF from Martin makes it very interesting, although Jorge seems to be riding more like a champion than Bagnaia is this year.

The look on Tardozzi's face when Pecco crashed was not good. I don't know what to think of Pecco. He's fast on his day but man is he inconsistent. At this point I think Martin just needs to focus on finishing races and he'll be fine. Although there is the Marquez issue. He's now second in the championship in spite of having another bad Q1 session. 14th to 2nd. Sure it took a few crashes to help, but if only he could start near the front of the grid. Also was impressive considering he lost one of the front wings on that opening lap. Raul Fernandez I thought was going to crash, he was pushing too hard once he got into the lead. Tried to pull the pin too early. Pedro looked really good though and rode a great race. The main event tomorrow should be interesting to watch.

I am not so sure. As Aleix said, the guys who crashed in front of him were pushing unsustainably hard, including Bagnaia. Martin is looking like the mature world champion, decided to take the points on a slippery track by all appearances. Bagnaia looks like the Ducati rider being put under pressure by MM, beating Espargaro in this race was fairly irrelevant to his title retention bid.

It can't be Shyamalan or it would have had a ...... ending. Let hope tomorrows race isn't like the happening where nothing happens.

I agree, after hearing what Aleix said, then it’s hard to say it was luck but rather intelligence.
It does make acosta’s ride more impressive. Would have been easy for the rookie to also get over excited and push for the win.

Fairytale win for Aleix and well deserved. Fastest in every session, qualifying and race win so far this weekend. Imo he deserves every plaudit for his work at Aprilia in single handedly producing a bike as good as this one undoubtedly is. Funny but I always thought Pol was seen as the brother with the most ability and Aleix was the journeyman but he’s standing at least on the same level now in the twilight of a great career, nice to see!
Marc rode a fantastic race to get 2nd, had no hopes for him after 3 laps but never say never where Marc’s concerned. It helped that the 3 leaders tried to hard to gap the others and paid the price but when Bag inched away I thought it was a done deal. Cannot remember a time when you could genuinely pick anyone from 8ish riders who genuinely have a shot at winning! How lucky are we?

I think everyone saw Pol as the more talented rider but Aleix’s results IMO showed that despite less advantages earlier in their career he was probably the better rider. I wouldn’t bet against him tomorrow,

Everyone did their best to hand the win to Frantisek but he still couldn't capitalize on it .

Pumped for Aleix and obviously for Marc. Gained 11+ spots in three consecutive races. Incredible.

The sprints are growing on me.

I knew the racing would be fun, though 40 races a year is saturating the marketplace, which isn’t good for Dorna’s other classes and series.

My opposition was to the laziness and gaslighting. There were hundreds of millions of dollars at stake; therefore, telling the public they wanted sprint races for championship points was justified. This is the sort of sophomoric greed that dominates commercial enterprise. Too lazy to make improvements worth billions, the best solution for PE is just diluting the brand and attempting to scavenge the industry for spare funds. Lazy paper-flipping by people who produce nothing.

They didn’t even bother to make the sprints a unique challenge that furthers rider/engineering disciplines. It’s just a half GP on Saturday.

Not sure what humanity has done to deserve such a pathetic ruling class, but it must be really bad.

Yet another exciting sprint! Well done Dorna for the introduction of this format.

The types of crashes tells me that the track is difficult. They also tell me about how much pressure the riders have, so early in the season.

Raul needs to back up his talent with results. He wants to remain in MotoGP and can sense Roberts chasing him.

Brad needs to step up and lead KTM. Acosta should be doing that.

Pecco needs to win, he can't let the Spanish armada defeat him.

Even if it is a long season, even if two of the crashers are safe, contractwise, the mental game is on and churning out its victimes.

I was rooting for all three that crashed out 😔
Binder, Fernandez and Bagnaia on the podium would’ve made my day 1716652877544.png
