2024 MotoGP Round 6: Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya - Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya

I personally am more interested in MotoGP than ever at this point. It’s refreshing coming into a race weekend with perhaps a small handful of favorites to win at a particular track instead of one or two “sure bets”. With silly season becoming a virtual sport itself, it’s been interesting seeing what racers say and how they word things. In this day and age when every pronouncement is quoted (perhaps correctly) and dissected, it is interesting to watch how they all dance ahead of the race. Everybody seems to be behaving (except for Mir-no surprise), even Bezz. I sure hope vr stays away this weekend. Maybe he has a cage to climb in so he doesn’t pollute the airwaves.

Interesting read for what MM has to say.

Reading between the lines, does this mean he gets a factory GP25 next year on par with Bagnaia and Marquez? Further interpreting tea leaves, Ducati must have made their decision on the factory seats and Jorge wasn’t one of the choices.

I'm "assuming" he'll be on the '25 bike. Mentally, I think it'll be the best thing for him. The idea of beating Bagnaia on the non-factory bike will give him further impetus. And he won't be worrying all the time at the back of his mind - whether or not at some level Pecco is getting some under-the-counter preferential treatment from Gigi.

All Ducati GP23s out of the Q2, the 24 bike is clearly better, even Morbidelli achieved a top 10. Strong showing by Aprilia and KTM, and a surprising Rins makes 9th in the FP2.

Guys, the Gresini post was a joke born out of the similarity of the livery Pramac is gonna run this GP
Ha Ha you caused a stir with that one! I wondered why he would have Pramac all over his ‘new’ Gresini leathers? 😜 It's all to honour some Spanish artist, the paintings in the garage are as well.

Weird going-on during Friday sessions. Several riders were just circulating to scrub tires and didn't bother posting legitimate times. Binder has back to back crashes in Turn 2, and then goes 2nd fastest? The low grip surface seems to be favoring Aleix. Makes sense that he is more comfortable with the bike moving around. The GP24 is showing a substantial advantage over the GP23 at Catalunya. The low grip circuit also seems to have moved the balance of power away from Martin and Quartararo who were outperformed by the other riders with factory equipment. Acosta continues to shine in any condition.

I haven't looked at the lap chart to see who has the pace during longer runs, but Saturday and Sunday could offer a few surprises.

The engineers look spent. A lot of long faces in the Japanese paddocks as they rebuild bike after bike. KTM squad didn't look too chipper, either. Did HRC riders get more than 60 seconds of TV time during the session? It's as if HRC have withdrawn.

Yeh with all 4 GP24's in the top 10 and all 4 GP23's not in the top 10, it looks like the GP24 is working better in low grip situations that are the GP23's Achillies heal

Morbidelli and Rins must be over the moon about getting into the top 10

Read in an article that either Bradl or Zarco is sick, the article is confusing as to which one as it talks about an aero update that they both are using

Not having huge expectations. Just hoping that these races this weekend won’t be crash fests.
