I wouldn't be too thrilled yet as a Marc fan: yes, he looks like his former self... on counter clockwise circuits. But we have still yet to see him look good on "normal" tracks. Hope he can get there soon.

Good duel between him and Bagnaia, clear Dovi vs Marc flashbacks. Ducati has an absolute beast of a bike without clear weaknesses, the riders need to be more consistent.

Thing is this. Since Marc has been out 2020, and less than 100% 2021. There has been all kind of winners with flabio being the most consistent. These boys really do have a lot to worry about with a 100% Marc and hopefully a 100% RCV213 in 2022. If he gave baggihya this much grief today with a 50% bike and 50% body. Ducati and others will be shitting bricks next year.

I am seeing Marquez back near the front and trying hard.
That was one of his best circuits, anti-clockwise with plenty of L handers.
The old Marc won 4 in a row.
If all was well he would have done so again.
He aint there yet and neither is the bike. There is more talent that has has a year to improve.
I'm not seeing a Marquez walkover next year at all yet but it was better, albeit on one of the circuits he has previously dominated on.

I don't doubt MM could have matched or bested Bagnaia on the Ducati. The Honda didn't look particularly bad in Marquez's hands, but it's clearly nothing close to the best bike. FWIW - Aragon is not a track that particularly favors any one bike. Since 2017 the top 6 finishers have been a very mixed bag of marques, few of which had more than one bike from the same factory. It really does favor riders who jibe with the track, which is why despite his heroic ride today, I don't particularly see it as a projection of future wins for Bagnaia. Baring any revelation of some physical setback, I expect Fabio will return to form at future races.

Baggy was totally Zen. So impressed. And as Warty said, the Duc can turn. I was stunned at how planted it was when he was pulling along inside MM.... smooth. HRC really need to rethink their chassis. I'd love to have seen MM's tires after the race. Mir did exactly as I expected given the the lack of progress with the bike itself.

Waiting to hear WTF happened with Fabio. That .... was sad.

Aprilias getting better and better.

Vinales right where expected.

"I compare [with Aleix] every practice, every lap and I ride very different," Vinales said. "I try to do the lap time more by going into the corner with speed and at this point the bike is made for another riding style. So I need to learn.

"You always have some positive points, and for sure good corner speed has positive points, but now I need to learn to do the lap time on the brakes and also on the gas, because basically the [V4] engine behaves very differently [to the Inline4 Yamaha]."

I have never seen him be that sort of rider before.
Always more corner speed.

Not expecting that much either now, reading that.
We will see.

Riders that spend that many years refining a distinctive riding style, who can radically change, are far and few between. Lorenzo at Ducati was something of a revelation, especially given his age. Shame his injuries put an end to all that. This is not a sport kind to older riders.

I thought Pecco rode a great race. Very cool and calculated, almost Dovi like.
I think that Marquez's tried and failed overtake attempts did show that the Honda still has a lot of improvements to be made.
Aragon looks to be a bit of a bogey circuit for Fabio.
Another top ride from Aleix, I still believe he is better than his brother.

Agreed. Marc isn't quite himself yet so I am judging it by the two riders theat have been riding it for a while now. Taka and mini marc are having their worse season on the Honda. It seems the honda is getting worse every year. The tire certainly is a contributing factor.

As for Fabio, it seems the yamaha struggles when the temperature is high.

Fabio was the best Yamaha by a mile so he didn't do all that bad & still fought off the attackers mid field. Just couldn't stay with the first 2 or 3 groups who were all actually pretty fast. (yeah the Aprilia too)

True, that said in this race the bar wasn't very high. A Moto2 rookie, a soon to retire Rossi long past anywhere near his prime, and a test rider who hasn't ridden much since retiring.

Great race, good to see Marc somewhat back. Pecco deserved the win more though, he didn't out a foot wrong all race.

Truly a thing of beauty. He was magnificently self-possessed. In Parc Ferme, you couldn’t help feeling that Marc really appreciated having an opponent worthy of him.

For all of Marc's faults, one thing I love about him is he.is.a.racer. If he gets beaten fair and square on race day, he may not be happy about finishing 2nd, but he will be the first to congratulate his opponent.

Nice gesture, he followed Pecco off the track in turn 1 after the finish and was the first to congratulate him.

:spin:
Indeed. A well deserved victory for Peco and what a way to not only get that first win, but to get it that way with a monkey on his back with all those near misses and falls. He rode so well. Marc was his usual self and a pleasure to watch as well. He is one hell of a fighter and will not give up.

Not a great day at the office for Fabio but he was due a bogey race with the Michelin tyres the way they have been.

Aleix did another great race. He is looking supremely fit!

BTW - I heard recently that some of you fellers were were promoting the idea that your red lion get his tackle returned. Any luck?

Get it right Kesh, it's red dragon, not a red lion.

It's on our national flag for ..... sake :p

Actually, Red sheep are more of a Texas thing. I guess them rednecks like Redheads...

He's probably just annoyed about 2 things.

1. He's English. There's a reason all the celtic countries collectively hate England.
2. Wales gave England a good beating in the 6 Nations.

Now if you will excuse me, I have to go give birth to an Englishman...on the toilet.

My bad. Honest mistake. For years my mates from Manchester and Liverpool have referred to it as a “that lion in drag”.
