Marc would have needed to make the pass early in the lap or Pecco was going to blow past on the back straight and out brake him into the final corner. Marc did the best he could with a bike that isn't all that good. The honda is the new ducati. Completely unpredictable front.
It has had a sh it front for a while but Marquez has been able to hold it on a lost front.
Or push harder knowing he can.
He can't now.
A bit of bike, a bit of tyre and a bit of shoulder/arm strength it seems to me sitting on my couch watching.
The Duke out braking him into a corner hasn't happened too often regardless and it did there, multiple times.

Agreed. Marc isn't quite himself yet so I am judging it by the two riders theat have been riding it for a while now. Taka and mini marc are having their worse season on the Honda. It seems the honda is getting worse every year. The tire certainly is a contributing factor.

As for Fabio, it seems the yamaha struggles when the temperature is high.

He looks to have healed the humeral fracture fully, he has certainly tested it out more than a few times now.

I have thought for years his shoulder was what was most likely to limit his career. Perhaps he can improve it by off season training with a fully healed humerus, but I don't think the bike is great either. Whether it is the bike and tires, or his shoulder, he is not even trying to ride the kind of banzai single lap for which he is justly famous.

If he and the bike can be a little better next year, he has to be the favorite for the title. He needs to be smart and take what he can get by not over riding and he will walk away a 9 time champion next year.

That was rather splendid...Speed, smooth, consistency, composure. Phenomenal ride from Pecco.

Great effort from what is not a 100% Marc or Honda - " I was a little bit on the limit "

Congrats to Basta too. Really good weekend for him

Great ride by Aleix once again. Out of everyone, he has impressed me the most this year.

Shame about Lecuona being given the boot from GP. He seems to be finally figuring it out.

As great as Marc is, he loses a lot of these last lap battles

I was hoping more from Binder after the top 10 start. He didn't have that late race charge today.

What's happened to Oliveira. Bloke marries his sister and completely falls off

1. I concur - Asparagus has been impressive
2. I concur - Iker looks to be making positive steps. Shame he's not going to get another year ( on a personal perspective, I am also gutted DP9 is out )
3. Hahaha - quite humorous

Oliveira needs to step it up.

Wow. I haven't been on the edge of my seat during a MotoGP race like that for a long time. Fabio and Aragon are like oil and water. Great ride by Aleix. I was rooting for him to at least have a good battle with Mir at the end. I was surprised Pecco and Marc were able to run in the 48s so deep into the race.

I wouldn't be too thrilled yet as a Marc fan: yes, he looks like his former self... on counter clockwise circuits. But we have still yet to see him look good on "normal" tracks. Hope he can get there soon.

Good duel between him and Bagnaia, clear Dovi vs Marc flashbacks. Ducati has an absolute beast of a bike without clear weaknesses, the riders need to be more consistent.

Happy that Ducacti has Bagnaia and Martin going for them. Historically it's always been that they've had one star rider and one with occasional flashes of brilliance.

Bummed that Cal didn't at least get in the points, but it was a big ask.

I am reasonably thrilled, he is pretty much following the Mick Doohan return from injury path, and I think there is hope the shoulder will be good enough next year, the fracture issue seems to be a thing of the past.

He does need a better bike, and as has been said given how his brother and Nakagami look this year compared to last it is probably a testament to him that he was so close in this race rather than a failure on his part. He really needed to jump Bagnaia at the start as he tried to do; on a clear track he may have had the pace to stay in front but on a Ducati Bagnaia, and all credit to him of course for resisting so much pressure, had an answer to any pass MM could assay; I am not sure what else MM could have tried.
