Isn't that what James Burke of the Lucchese crime family used to play? I recall them burying a number of victims under a Bocci court.

I can’t speak to the organized crime aspect. I haven’t thought of that in a long time. But when I was a kid, the old Italian men, like my grandfather from Naples would play bocci. There was a bocci court in a unused lot in the East Village at 1st Avenue and East Houston where they would play, all of them “very well fed” in their best work clothes (most were tailors, or owned cigar stores or newspaper stands) smoking little cigars and drinking wine and playing bocci. About 20 years ago “they paved paradise” and installed yet another overpriced coffee shop for the hipsters.
