WTH is up with Toni Elias?

He is def not Mr. Consistency but he is not that bad as his present results show. I hope some teams from WSBK have already contacted him. Actually if I were the head of Aprilia I would give him a shot next to Biaggi next year. They are similar size, both with huge GP-experience however mit different riding style. Not to mention that Elias may provide good information about the technical details of the RC212V. Somehow I have a feeling that he would be pretty good on that scud Aprilia RSV4.

The carcasses are too stiff for him. Simple as that. He's an extremely gifted rider, but he's not going to get his head 'round these Bridgestones anytime soon. He's a notoriously slow learner when he has tires that will work for him. The ultra-squishy Pirellis would suit him much better.

Besides, you really think HRC are going to leave their testing duties up to a privately funded effort with no ties to the factory outside a lease agreement?

WSB mext year ? He will probably kick ... there

OK, we'll try it YOUR way...

Elias has two more races to produce results. There is a fundamental conflict inside the team, Elias wants a particular setup, his team are telling him to STFU and ride the setup they give him. They're the engineers. He has now been given a completely free hand, but has to work the setup out for himself, his team will only implement it, not figure it out.

Welllll... that didn't work out so well.

Things going from bad to worse?

"Mugello was a disaster," Haro is quoted by Catalunya Radio. "Toni has realised that it didn't go well. From Germany, [we go] back to the settings that HRC and our crew chief will decide and Toni to assume his role as pilot and technician. The RC212V has more than proven to be super competitive."

Cripes, how dysfunctional can a 'team' be? Everyone is leaping to throw the other under the bus.

I honestly put this down to BAD management. We all know that Elias can ride and that the Honda is a more-than-competent machine. It seems the engineers and rider have somehow become set at odds. It's up to the doinks that run the ream to find a workable solution. They have failed.

Lets hope that the 'official' HRC baseline setup is good enough to beat some temps into the rubber - with or without the rider's cooperation.

The engineers are just trying to cover their ...... Toni Elias is more then a competent rider, he's shown that he can get victories in every class that he's been in. Maybe his riding style is just too different and the engineers are at a lost at what to do and unable to come to a solution, thus pointing fingers at one another. I'm really puzzled at this situation within LCR too.......... wth IS really going on. Honda is the dominant bike on the grid, it's clear to see, but yet they consistently ALWAYS finish dead last?? It just doesn't make sense.

That is why I'm reverting back to my theory that Toni Elias IS indeed a test rider for Honda for next year, new rule changes !! You folks can believe what you want, I feel Honda is using him as a test rider and Toni is not too happy about it. He's trying to keep it quiet, but clearly you can see his dissatisfaction about the current situation he's in. He's not happy that they are using him, so he's voicing his opinion. THAT is why they are going to drop him if he keeps it up.

Don't be naive folks..... as much as we love racing, it ain't as pure as we all would like to think. It's a cut-throat business.

I mean come on. Why would any team give a rider, in this case Toni Elias an ultimatum and announced it in public? They don't do it because they want to force Toni Elias to push and get results and win races...... they do it so that he can shut up and get along with Honda's program. Trust me, he's just keeping his mouth shut for the moment, there's more then meets the eyes. Toni Elias is nothing more then a pawn in the whole scheme of things.

Politics my friend.

You can't ignore facts, and regardless of your statement of him 'proving he is a competent rider' the facts are that in 2011 he has been consistently off the pace and with no signs of improving. he HAS to accept some of the blame because no-one out there has a perfectly set up bike. When the lights go out on race day they have to manage what they've got.

And as for your argument on Honda's 'Motivational techniques'...well
