WTH is up with Toni Elias?

If you guys seriously think it's the tires then......... there's something wrong with you. LCR is a competent satellite team with a competent rider in Toni Elias. They, both, cannot just dropped down dead last especially seeing how Honda is the dominant bike on the grid. Again as I said, he's testing Honda for next year.... be it electronics, fuel capacity limit, new forks, swing-arms, etc. Stop being soo naieve folks.

Come on, consistently finishing dead last in practice and race with the dominant Honda bike? Gotta read between the lines.

What will happen to your theory when Toni leaves the team prior to seasons end? If this keeps up, he'll be gone within 5 races. Then what? A new tester perhaps?

So my superkart is the same chassis and engine (albeit a generation older) than the current dominant and championship winning team/s, yet you think the only difference in the fact that I'd upper midfield and you would be last in my kart is that you;d be a test mule for Anderson or Handa? ........, you're just not as good as me
<

If RDP was riding that bike it wouldn't be where it is, thats the sole variable here.

But, in Elias' favour of course is that this is the last season of 800's which may buy him additional time as next year we revert to the 1000 capacity bikes and all aspects are an unknown.

I'd be shocked if Elias was given another shot at MotoGP. He's had his time. I also don't think he'll go back to Moto2. My money is on him following Melandri to World Supers. Just a hunch.

He's not riding the dominant Honda bike. He's riding the same bike as Aoyama, which by using Aoyama as a measure seems to be only slightly better than the Sattelite Ducati and Suzuki.

Pretty much hit the nail on the head.

I heard an interview where he ( his team) were saying his weight isn't enough to load up ( and therefore generate temperature in) the front tyre.

Strange............ is Pedrosa smaller than Elias ? if he is.......how come the thing works for Danny ?

Or maybe it comes down to weight, plus riding style.

Who knows..........shame though........good rider when things work for him.

None of here can say so authoritatively but the general consensus is Elias is just unable to adjust his riding style to the 800s.

He's certainly not smaller than Pedrosa, and Aoyama is no giant himself. He was doing .... two years ago; why anyone thought

it would be different in 2011 is beyond my comprehension.

I'm not sure if it's really a weight problem with regards to heat into the tyre. More like a body positioning on the bike.

The Bridgestones are too hard for his hang off the side of the bike riding style. Bloody good to watch when he is on it though.

Agreed to both the last comments.

".... over the last two years" may be a bit too harsh though.....runs hot and cold ( inconsistant), yes.........but when he turns it on, you wonder why he can't do it all the time.

.......now, that silly French sausage.....that's .... over the last two years.

......or as long as I can remember.

Why don't they give that ride to De Angelis.....or anyone for that matter.

My stupid opinion.........not everyones.

He's had his day in MGP. Let Scud stay where he is. Rather see Iannone or the German kid get the ride.

I just hope when Bradl makes it to the premier class, he's on a decent ride.

His Dad must be pleased as punch.

Yeah....give the scuds ride to Iannone !!!

Elias has two more races to produce results. There is a fundamental conflict inside the team, Elias wants a particular setup, his team are telling him to STFU and ride the setup they give him. They're the engineers. He has now been given a completely free hand, but has to work the setup out for himself, his team will only implement it, not figure it out.

Wow! ........... most of all because the dynamics in that teammust be pretty ....

if thats going on .....

Elias should at least be given a chance to ride with his setup and see how he goes. Ridiculous if he's had to ride someone else's setup all season. Hope his results improve over this next couple of weeks.

I wonder if the poor results from the beginning of the season caused the team to have this attitude or if this is the way they operated from the start. I dont think he had a good test or even a good FP all season. Did Honda force LCR to take Toni? The team had to be pretty happy with Randy and I can't see anyone wanting a Satellite Duc over any Honda unless a big pay raise was involved. I wonder if Elias just came into a bad situation where he was destined to fail.

Would love to see Toni in the top 7-8 while he's figuring everything out for himself but he has a better chance of winning the lottery. Has to be hard to see your rider at the back all the time but quiting on him says a lot about the team.

This is true, I think the rain saved him last time around. Let's see how he does in Assen.

wrong. the average rider does not win a motogp race, the average rider does not win a GP world championship.

lol everyone on the grid has pretty much won a wc or a race before.

even if loris at 38 was to go back to moto2 right now, i'm pretty sure he could win a moto2 championship if it was the right year.

and tony elias did it becuase of the 250/600 transition year and a bunch of noobs where simocelli and bautista had just moved on to motogp. so toni moved back to moto2 at the right time and the pickings were ripe to win given his experience and consistancy.

look at elias's results from 06-09... his average results were prob 10th... no better or worse than they are now... only difference is now there are only 15 racers and when you still finish 10th it doesnt look like a great acheivement, in fact its pretty much a failure.

We need more nationalities in motogp at the moment it seems you need a certain passport to race in GP's , pretty much what Kropo mentioned re Elias was talked bout during the race coverage here in Oz and if thats the case this might be last couple of races for him in motogp ,in saying that blame can't be solely on put him.
