WTH is up with Toni Elias?

Seriously........ Toni Elias can't suck this bad, always in last place? What are your thoughts on him and what's going on within the team. Is Honda using him as a test rider?

He isn't testing anything, he's only just got the 2011 chassis. Toni cannot get on with the control tyres, his style is too unusual. He either needs to go back to square one and learn to ride all over again going back on what he's been doing his entire career, or he will not succeed in motogp. Honda will not be in a position to make him anything specific with so much on their plate at the moment so if the team can't find a radical setup that works i think Elias needs to ultimately improve a lot or go and ride elsewhere. The results do not reflect the quality of anyone involved.

Oh come on !! Honda has the best bike out there....... there's no possible way he can always place dead last. What I really think is, Toni Elias is an un-officical Honda test rider. He doesn't seem to happy at the moment too....... that should tell you something.

He isn't happy because he's a reigning world champion who can't get in the top ten. What would he be testing, and why? There is no doubt in my mind this is not the case

Dude...... electronics for starters ? Fuel limit capacity? ummmm....... a different size swing arm or forks? Can't be too naieve Tom. Motorsports is all about making money and politcs, you should know.

He can't use the tires.

Oh come on Lex....... he got dropped from the big show, premier class 'MotogGP'. When he became champion in Moto2 there was a clause in his contract before he becomes a 'Honda' rider.......... meaning he and his team are getting paid to test out parts. Or do you actually believe his Honda bike is that bad for him to always place last? It ain't the tires trust me.

The fact Bridgestone has extended their motogp contract until 2014 means Toni Elias's fate is sealed.

He needs softer rubber. I don't think LCR will keep him on until the end of the year.

mate, you asked and you have been told. it is his tires. He hangs way to far off the side of the bike and cant get enough heat into the tires. He spent that year in moto 2 on dunlops which are a completely different beast to the spec bridgestones. everyone knows that he is a really good rider, thats why they havent given up on him, he is just struggling with corner exit grip due to his weird style.

Are you guys seriously this naive? He's a test mule for next year's formula change, 1,000cc.

The carcasses are too stiff for him. Simple as that. He's an extremely gifted rider, but he's not going to get his head 'round these Bridgestones anytime soon. He's a notoriously slow learner when he has tires that will work for him. The ultra-squishy Pirellis would suit him much better.

Besides, you really think HRC are going to leave their testing duties up to a privately funded effort with no ties to the factory outside a lease agreement?

Tony Elias was fine ......... until he got on a Ducati

He went alright on the Ducati, even had a podium which is no easy thing especially on a Dantin bike. He went backwards when he told them he was leaving and some of the good parts were removed.

Apparently he doesn't like the bike to pitch a lot so he needs a softer tyre contruction to generate heat, where the current control tire requires more weight transfer to deform the stiff carcass, that's why we've seen some riders go down this year early in braking zones as if they're riding in the wet.

You know, it would be nice if racing was as 'pure' as we all like and wish to think it is.

Honda is the bike to be at the moment. Toni Elias is a test mule for next year. Feel bad for the guy.

Ducati should have kept him, as lcr dhould have kept randy.

This thread is hilarious. .... asks a question, you guys offer plausible answers, and he replies, you're all full of ..... Anybody else want to reply to brain dead?

SS is similar to Pinky ..... a forums equivalent to a "shock Jock" ....... he may not follow a coherent path of argument however the question is worth discussion.

yeah right. so every part he is testing is bad? ... some complain of no new parts and now you are saying he is getting all the new parts before even the factory riders are? lol

testing happens in japan 7 days a week, no need for a guy running at the end of the grid to approve/dissaprove of a part

maybe Elias is at the end of the pack because of his talent? look at the amount of race wins elias was racing against in his earlier stint

other than rossi, virtually no one else had a win, heck you could win a championship with 2 wins in a season....

nowadays you need 8-10 wins a season just to win.. the competition has increased 4 times with 4 riders having a chance of winning. whereas back in 2000-2006 there was only 1 person who could win.
