<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Bootsakah @ Apr 2 2009, 11:43 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>In regards to Hopkins, I agree a top 10 would be a good result for him. He obviously has great track knowledge which is an advantage, but he is new to the bike, tires, team, superpole etc. He's going to need some time. No doubt Stiggy Honda is a good team to be on. Haslam has shown the bike can get the job done. Being managed by an ex racer has got to be a plus too. If I was Hopkins I would be happy too, after the Kawasaki experience and with the bs rules they have thrown at MotoGP lately.
you know i use to think the same thing about spies when he came up to wsbk & i believe he is setting a new benchmark of performance for class rookies. hopkins needs to be up to speed like real soon imo & since he is coming from gps he should adapt easily to the machine & has eluded to this in his own statements. the stiggy honda is capable as proved by haslam so if he does not end up in at least the top eight this weekend & gradualy higher up at upcoming rounds, i think hes gonna be in trouble.

Really impressed with Biaggi and Aprilia, granted they are a long time racing company and superbikes are nothing new, but they have been up there since the first race.

Not a surprise to see Haga or Spies up there, but still very impressed with Spies ability to be fast where ever he has gone.

Fabrizio, riding like his job is on the line.

I wonder if Sykes can pick up a podium.

Hopkins 1 sec down from the lead, not a bad start.

When is Smrz going to turn in one of these amazing pre-race performances into an actual race result?

Really disappointed in Hopper. In GP you break earlier and carry more speed. In WSBK seems like you bend the bike around the apex. Hopper is very late on the brakes, but he probably hasn't used the skill since the 990s went out. Hopefully, he can adapt.

Nakano a token Japanese, on an Italian bike? I think Kagayama is more appropriate for that moniker.

Hopper through to Superpole2 - Biaggi NOT!! Didn't see what happened to Max. Two minutes left in SP2 - Hopper just rolling...

SP2 over Hopper only got 3 laps in - starting sixteenth. Shakey fell... Spies FAST!!

GOD DAMN if Spies didn't just lurk around the course waiting for everyone else to throw down, then he lets loose with a spankin' lap, humiliating all those left in superpole.

Biaggi did Ben a huge favor. I would have picked him for the win if he weren't starting from 18th

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (vale4607 @ Apr 4 2009, 02:56 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>.... me! Spies is the business.
Too bad dorna don't want him in motogp on a factory ride next year.

I have watched Ben come thru the ranks, live and in person and you could tell he was good. Then last year, when i witnessed him reel in Mladin from over 3 seconds back in 5 laps at Road Atlanta,i just looked at my buddies and said ....,this kid just keeps taking it to a new level. I expected him to do well on the world stage but my god, could we be witnessing another Polen moment. He may or may not ever be a GP superstar, but at the rate he is going,he could stamp his name as one of the,or the, all time greats in SB.I want to see him go to GP,but i wouldnt want to see him flounder around in 6-10th place and waist the best years of his career. Right now he sitting in a posistion to reel of quite a few championships considering his main rivals are getting a little long in the tooth and the younger guys dont seem to be on par with his talents. This kid is special,at least on a Superbike.Time will tell if his style lets him be a star in GP.

Wow. Yeah, I feel bad for everyone smashing on the AMA guys now, Ben/Mat were just meant to be in Gran Prix it seems.. cuz make no mistake; every weekend Mat Mladin brought it to Ben..

I can't wait to see Haga in the race.. he called Valencia as one of his favorites, and expected to go well here..

I wish I could see more of the practices to call who sucked in superpole but has a good chance in the race.. stupid intellectual property rights rubbish.. if there's anything i'm communist about; it's the proliferation of motorcycle racing media.

According to crash.net, Spies did this on his backup bike!

"...The rookie, winner of the last three races, suffered some kind of technical problem with his factory-backed Yamaha in Superpole 2 and had to switch to his spare bike. Nevertheless, Spies shot from eighth to first with one and a half minutes of the third and final Superpole session remaining."

unbelievable
