Valencia decimated by floods from storm Dana. Season finale in doubt.

The totally weird solution (and yes I know this is completely nuts) would be to have the final race at the beginning of next season. Sure would keep people on tenterhooks over the winter. The amount of speculation would be out of this world. Again - I'm not saying this with any seriousness.

Honestly, I don't think there's any really good solution.

I don't think that's nuts at all. I'd prefer it to this weekend settling the championship.

The other alternative would be to have the last race at an another European track in a week or two, if any are available.

ETA: Contracts could be varied on a one-off basis.

Can't see how it could happen past the end of the calendar year, by that time riders have moved to different manufacturers

A 1 week delay to race at the same track seems optimistic considering the devastation

Why say something like that? We know he will show up.
Sure would give him an excuse for why he was “cheated” out of a chance to win the championship. “I only lost because I took a moral stance regarding the misappropriation of resources that should have been awarded to the victims of the storm. I felt it was my moral obligation and my patriotic duty to my fellow Spanish citizens”. Remember when the reactor exploded in Japan - killing many more people - and still the Motegi race went on?

He is not a clear thinker but someone who's words are used as weapons. He is very subtle but his words always have a deeper meaning.

Sad it took this long for them to cancel going to Valencia.

Carmelo is a greedy piece of ..... Always has been.

Had GP tried to stage the Valencian GP even at a later date, that would have been a horrible look for the sport.

I really hope it doesn't happen, but I would be less than pleased if they return to Qatar for the finale.

They need to find a way to host in Spain (Jerez would be the perfect final showdown IMO) and donate all proceeds to Valencia.

Fair cop. Ya being a bit harsh on pecco here. He's said and done nothing wrong through this situation.
I don't buy into anything he says. When he speaks I then think, what could he really mean? Am I being harsh on him? Sure. But I think he is a snake oil salesmen. I trust his words less than I trust his ability to drive a rental at 2 a.m. His actions and his words to match up. He is the Donald ..... of motogp.

Easy for Drunknaia to say since he knew they were never racing in Valencia.

He wanted to win some more merit badges to make himself look like a real Boy Scout for the VR46 crowd so they could oooo and ahhhh and say, "Wow he's a magnanimous individual".

He plays verbal chess while Bezz plays verbal checkers. But I see through it.

I don't think it's quite comparable, that race was held 7 months after the Tsunami and not like a week later.

It was the devastating Tsunami that killed 22,000 people though. The death toll from the nuclear disaster to this date is one.

I don't think it's called 'being harsh' when you 'don't buy into anything he says'.

If the race is in the Iberian peninsula, as my guestimate of what Dorna would want, the logistics would be very easy to handle.
The airfreight lands potentially in Madrid or Barcelona. So the distance to a track is either shorter, or same as for Valencia.
You don't have any vendors who aren't easily relocated. The Dorna press, will be airlifted to wherever. You have your usual set of merch, the Galicia Estrella and Segafreddo vendors. Same lame queso or jamon at every circuit. They'll probably have them made during the off-season by the taste of it.

Qatar would probably pay for all the expenses, if Dorna wants another race there.

Tickets? Compared to a game of football or a big concert, its the least refined way to handle a big mass of people I've had the pleasure of getting to know.

I'd be flabbergasted if they don't find another track to race at. And then test.
If you ever bought VIP tickets for a MotoGp race, you know, it's potentially a giant pain in the .... They frequently promise delivery of tickets that end up not arriving on time and you end up having to take a taxi off-site to a special office where you stand on line forever jump through hoops with ID etc and have to schlep back to the race itself. Happened to me twice.

And . . . picture if you will - the logistics of creating, printing and mailing out a few hundred thousand replacement tickets in the space of a week or two (assuming that there'd that many spectators who'd be that fluid with holiday planning and okay to book new hotel rooms that may or may not be available and new train tickets that also may not be available).
And yes you can fly in the press - but they still need hotel accomodations for 3 days. Hotels for events this big are as a rule booked 6 - 9 months in advance.

Yes, it's quite amazing how unprofessional Dorna and the event organisers are.

It can't be an Iberian thing as all the big events I've attended there have been well organised.

For the last race, they'll dump the price of the Video Pass and ignore the track side audience.
