I find this flood grievance overhyped. Get over it. Yes, I do have the right to say so.
In 2016 during Historic Louisiana Flood 146 thousand homes were damaged. I had over 4 ft water in my home for over a week. Unfortunately, I was in the hospital same time and my [blonde] wife is an airhead, she couldn't handle the situation. We lost everything. When the water receded we had literally nothing but trash filled home with only brick walls standing and roof over them. I came out from hospital crippled and struggled two years to rebuild.
I say get over it. Give some real help if you can, but stop this howling "oh how sorry I am about this disaster".
Damn who pissed in your cheerios? What you are saying is grab some jetskis and hold the race next weekend?

A loss of life is always worth some condolences or prayers if that's your thing. I would think you having lived through this you would understand the economic impact this has on the area, but I guess not. I would say good for you for overcoming adversity in such a difficult time but obviously you don't want to hear it. I'll just get over it.

I remember 15 years ago when most members were complaining that Bush, Cheney, Romney, McCain, Ryan etc were all going to ruin our country (possibly the world) and steal trillions of dollars for the military industrial complex by fighting wars that they weren't planning to win. Trump et al took a wrecking ball to the neocons. They are locked out of power. Their families have been mostly run out of politics. They have no home, no friends, and no name to trade. The travesty of our times is that so few people have allowed themselves to enjoy it. Clearly our country had no reason to get rid of these people, and it must be foreign malign influence? We must support the wars that oppose this malign influence?
I could write a book about demise of Collective West and reasons behind it. This is not why I visit these forums, I come here to be free of politics. We never see this mystical far-right poisoning the environment, this is always some left-wing fanatic doing it. I'm very sorry you took the bait.
I know these forums are not heavily moderated, I as a libertarian love it this way. But please, folks, lets stay with MotoGP.
If Harris and Biden entered a sidecar competition with Harris at controls I'd discuss it. :p

George Carlin explained it many years ago. It’s a big club, and we aren’t in it. Geopolitical negotiations and strategic maneuvering takes place over generations (or longer). Bureaucracies have permanence, and they are given control these strategies, which have become increasingly broad and now impact all aspects of our lives.

Elections are just a sporting contest. The players are not trying to lower ticket prices or stop the teams from stealing taxpayer money. They are competing for fame and money. They are hired and screened by the league and teams. The most successful players are competing for access into the bureaucracy—they become so big that the league actually confers with them.

In the United States and other countries, groups of players, officials, coaches and team owners have launched initiatives to takeover the league. The US is a two-party system so a bunch of hall-of-fame politicians are rallying around one party to preserve the status quo.

Do the new guys have good ideas? Will they do what they say? Does the old system actually need to be thrown away? Has one of these factions (or both or none) betrayed our society? Is compromise possible? This is what the world is trying to figure out, and it varies by country.

In the US it’s Trump. In your neck of the woods, it’s the AfD.
George Carlin - had his funny moments, but if you check out interviews with his family, you'll learn, he was really a guy with terrible depression and serious anger issues. Funny at times, yes. A political/social guru, no.

I can be as cynical as the next guy, but Dems with all their faults, do overall strive for humane policies that benefit blue collar families and the disadvantaged. Dems passed a healthcare bill that Republicans in the pockets of insurance companies tried to deny people. Democrats try to work toward clean air and clean water. Republicans want to disband the EPA. Republicans by refusing to censure White Nationalist Nazis tacitly support them. Republicans kill every gun safety bill that comes to a vote while the bodies of school kids pile up every week. Moderate Republicans have for 20 years stuck their head in the sand regarding the growth of Tea Party and Maga nutjobs leaving the barn door open and have slowly been pushed out of Congress and the Senate by blithering idiots like Bobby Jindal, Ted Cruz, scumbag sex predators Matt Gaetz, Matt Schlapp, Larry Craig, Roy Child-Bride Moore, along with neanderthal Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Bimbo Bobert, Kristi Puppy-Killer Noem who have infected the party with right-wing conspiracy nonsense while feeding the ........ legend of a dim-witted convicted rapist, gaslighter who slips deeper daily into dementia, a person who formerly reasonable, reach-across-the-aisle Republicans are now all terrified of. So lets not kid ourselves. It ain't potayto / potahto.

End of rant.

Maybe that’s why i can find some empathy to Pecco and his little car incident as i myself parked a rental in the ditch in ibiza while being a little tipsy…gotta search through my old harddrive to find the picture

They always said they wanted the final race in Spain. Logistically it helps as the freight was going there anyway. It also gives Michelin time to make Barcelona specific tyres.
