Ah, yes, of course. All roads lead to VR. I know all about this. Not sure why he would be abused for performing less than VR, Dovi is not the Goat--VR is. Well, let me begin by dispelling any mystery regarding his performance and make a not-so-hard prediction of my own: He will be better than VR did on the Duc. Because unlike VR, Dovi has to earn his seats by staying hungry, focused, and pushing a bike built for a set of rules not favored for their designs, and of course, not having to ride a bike designed around another guy. Under normal circumstances, the Duc might be good for a string of 4ths, as it was in 2010. However, given the propensity of the league to favor VR and the heir in Marc, I fully expect 1-6 to be Jap bike territory (trickle down affect for the satellites). Anyway, when he does real good, he will be demoted to a satellite bike.
Ha! I've got a better one. There is going to be a lot of bitching and hate for VR next year.
If he does well, it's because he was gifted an M1 he didn't deserve.
If he craps the bed, he's over the hill and on an M1 he didn't deserve.

It will be interesting to see how much will really trickle down to the sat bikes. At the beginning of 2012 there was consensus about the fact that the sat bikes are as close to the factory bikes as possible, as it was the early phase of the new 1000cc formula. According to this, the sat bikes would be further behind in 2013 than in 2013. For the conspiracists: Given that 'the heir' and 'the goat' are on factory bikes, there is a good reason to keep the gap to the sat bikes, or even widen it, silver spoon wise.

Meh, Valentino should retire on a factory M1. He probably should have done it in 2010 though. Oh well, the racing will probably more interesting as a result. There are worse things. Plus a lot of you will be able to hammer him for not winning another WC for another couple of seasons. Possibly not even a race.

I think this is true given a specific set of circumstances. If 'leveling the playing field' is code for restricting technology, then the MSMA are almost certainly against it. If leveling the playing field meant loosening technology and creating more incentives for fuel efficiency, I wonder if they would feel the same way.

I guess I ..... because it wasn't until Rossi failed on the Ducati that people seriously lined up with silver spoons for Casey. It took them too long and there were too many barriers in the way, as someone said about Dovi, he wont get a factory ride by being best Ducati, he has to claw his whole ....... way (being the superflous Italian).
I am however willing to dump my name even, Andy Roo will become Andre Sanchez, I shall set fire to a donkey and then throw gravel in its eyes and ears (its a cultural thing), I may stab it and leave it to die (it's what the audience wants)
I will support a rider at least ordained for championship status by Dorna,I may even join one of the Dorna death squads and successfully apply the final "effluction" except as in all Orwellian doctrine, this will be a cynical opposite. I will ignore all of the changes such as Michelin and Bridgestone CRT, ECU's, walled garages and refuse to substantiate any of this - illusory correlations and conjecture at best. I will ignore the aberrant championships, such as 2006, 2007 and even 2010 because Lorenzo did steal and use other "righteous" riders secrets!
I will become a Rossicaust denier and join a Dorna death squad hunting down the last remnants of those who joined the resistance, (Cliche you dope smoking Stoner loving German Hippy I am coming for you!). Whether he deserves it or not, he needs to be on that bike for the series to stay exciting. Do you honestly want to watch Ben Spies or Dovisioso fight for 3rd place for another year? Give the seat to somebody who has used the M1 and delivered race WINS. I do believe, however, the Ducati was capable of winning races, I mean, it definitely had the speed, the problem was Rossi wasn't really pushing as hard as he can because the bike had no feeling in the front end. Only person to ride around that problem consistently was Stoner.
For the record I do think he deserves the bike. He may have been given better opportunities than most, but he made the most of them and has had an impressive career. Motogp will be far better off with Vale on the M1. The series needs a villain...
