.... off dipshit. You by far are the biggest ....... hypocrite on this site you smarmy ........... You're hatred for all things Stoner is very well known. Let me repeat - you've admitted you hate Stoner because of his fans.

Hypocrite - you're the one who said you'd give up on Rossi if he went back to tobacco sponsorship. Hope you got rid of your fanboy tattoo.

SOD, ur taking this too seriously dude.

In Chops defense, i took him to task on this tobacco point, he renounced being a Rossi fanboy here on this forum too. In fact, i think he was even rooting for Stoner at Laguna (no BS).

He's made it crystal clear that it's not just about himself... but rather the decline of the sport itself. He spoke directly to the sad fact of a talented rider like DePuniet being stuck on a CRT. We all talk about how much better it would be for us as fans to have more full-fledged factory bikes fighting it out at the front of the pack, yet no person here (that I know of) has ever taken into consideration how much more interesting the same scenario would be FOR THE RIDERS. We all would love to see Cal, Dovi, Depuniet etc up there fighting to get on the podium - and so would Stoner.

BTW - Glass half full people are the optimist half of the equation. Glass half empty would be you, although if it's rum, glass fully drained.

Great post Kesh. I agree with this. I just dont think he should quit over it. I would like to have seen him get angry and fight for a better motogp. Start a riders committee get people involved in the issue. Cause in a nut shell all we want is what you pointed out kesh. Some people get angry and fight some get angry and quit I guess.

You have lost ur mind Pov. Here u said u felt vindicated becuz Stoner had supposedly echoed ur sentiment, does the same "vindication" of citing a rider not count in this case? And actually, its not even the point. The point is buddy, that Rossi frames it exactly based on reality, that is, factory "prototypes" are unsustainable. I mean i sorta get why u dont understand, since u claim to be "conservative" and supposedly subscribe to the notion of "living within ur means" (except that every prez u've ever voted for has increase the deficit); notwithstanding, paying for "prototypes" is no longer possible! If the CRTs had not been introduced, it well may have been a 12 rider championship (where oddly enuf, Randy Depuniet would have been eliminated (considering Stoners well intentioned but naive hope for Randy to be "where he deserves").

On to the rest of what has become standard ridiculousness for u, Rossi wants and can only handle a slower pace? Oddly enuf, its Lorenzo who sits one point behind Stoner, is the one who was most vocal about his concerns that the bikes now are too fast. So Rossi only feels more comfy on a slow bike? Haha, u must not be paying attention to the speed trap times. (But as usual, u like to throw .... up without actually knowing the facts, right Mr. Lap rider conspiracy theorist?

Have u even followed Rossis comments regarding CRTs? He also expressed that he rather have all the best and fastest technology, but this is NOT realistic. But then again, how much do u care about the REAL world, u still think our prez is a foreigner, muslim, socialist, who is gonna take away all our guns. Haha u are some kind of pathetic man.

Another wannabe fan who thinks speed trap times is the essence of a fast bike. I can ride a bike at 220 mph in straight line, its those pesky curves at the end that slow me down. Cannot beleive you invoked increased deficits, obviously you are the one who has no ....... idea what world he lives in. If Honda can offer Stoner 20 million dollars to race for one year, obviously building prototypes is something they can afford to do. Same with Yamaha, even without sponsorship, they are right at the front, and will have to pay Lorenzo 15+ million to keep him. Suzuki, Kawasaki, can afford to build factory prototypes, they choose not to because they lack the committment or ability to challenge Honda and Yamaha. If Ducati can build prototypes, any of the major Japanese manufacturers can afford to build factory prototypes. Now run along, when you realize that trap speeds are near the bottom of factors that make a race bike fast, get back wit us.

I've been following this thread as much as anybody else, and despite many various opinions on the matter, Beef above has done the best to actually describe the reality of Casey's decision. Its an unemotional description. And certainly not hating. Its the simply truth in how Casey described his plight and the decision to move on. Beef isn't saying any of the things here that others are framing it to defend. He is not saying he is mentally weak or a loser for retiring. That many here don't like his description doesn't make it any less accurate. I'm not sure how this can even be debated, as Casey's words are there for all of us to read and are very clear. Those trying to interpret them are usually the ones reminding us that Casey says what he means. And to leave no doubt, Casey himself said this in the announcement, that is, affirming again that he doesn't lie. And I believe him.

My first reaction to Casey's announcement was first disbelief and shock (yes he had already mentioned he was not long for the sport, but nobody thought it would be this soon, nor did anybody expect the announcement to be yesterday). The stoic faces of everybody in the room shows that even the most insiders while having been prepped by his statements in years past that he would leave the sport early, people didn't actually really think the day would come this quick. My second reaction was to feel like he was being weak, arrogant, and a head-case, thats only after I had read the comments, especially when I focused on the parts where he is disgruntled with the CRTs. Then after watching the actual announcement in the press conference video, I felt a complexity of thoughts ranging from agreement with some of his statements while some disagreement, to anger, to some nods and shakes of my head, to pity. Its this last feeling that today I'm thinking about; as Casey confronted the media and the spectators in general about the lack of respect shown to the sport (which took balls). I don't agree with everything he said, as its fair and par for the course for people to have their differing opinions, which are valid; notwithstanding, He is also sadly correct in saying that the general purview when discussed in circles of the sport has had an element of taint and negativity regarding his character and accomplishments. Its this that Casey cites, along with the rules changes, that has caused him to decide (in his words) to retire. I have already said, that I can't really agree with him on the issue of rules changes being cause for retirement, but I can relate to him being tired of all the .... slung at his accomplishments which it appears has (in his words) taken its toll. I've started to understand a bit better why he was so quick to lash out at people thinking eveybody had become his enemy. It seems he had become bitter (as he basically admits this). Its perhaps under this hardening of his heart that he lashed out at Nicky, as he perhaps lost his sense of distinction (which is understandable considering what might have been Casey's frame of mind). The truth is, we are not all cut out to be in the lime light. Who is really trained to handle the savvy media that are more interested in getting a controversial sound bite with an interviewee willing to put his foot in his mouth.

For today, knowing he will be gone from the series will have me watching his performance on the track more intently.

(Don't get all giddy Neoboppers, I still think you guys are the worst part about Casey, even though he had no part in creating you crazy people.)

Good post, while many on here are demonstrating the attitudes that have taken stoner's pleasure in the sport away. All of the criticism of stoner on this thread comes down to one thing; he is not valentino rossi. He can beat rossi into a cocked hat, on the worst bike on the grid or the best, and people will still find reasons why he hasn't really beaten him. I think keshav's rock band analogy is very apt; I have been to a lot of rock concerts and have frequently seen support bands being booed for being better than the main act. He obviously was driven to win last year's title to prove rossi and his critics wrong. I think he is likely confident that he could continue to do so (hrc would seem to think so as well if they have really offered 20 million), but has made a mature decision that riding with that motivation is no way to live his life. He was not very mature in his announcement, but that's him, and I have always agreed with you that public speaking is not his forte.

I took issue with beef supreme's post over a point of semantics which I think is important, and the post you quoted was part of a series in which he did say stoner was mentally weak. It is not that he can't take it any more, it is that he doesn't want to take it anymore. He has demonstrated more than adequately that he can take it, as he has demonstrated even in fp1 and fp2 yesterday (not that this means he will necessarily win the race); he can and has performed superlatively under much worse pressure and even greater weight of opprobrium than that which broke max biaggi and sete gibernau.

I also think there is a misinterpretation of what he thinks is lacking, unsurprisingly given the emotional nature of some of his utterances. I don't think he wanted to be loved, and certainly not by rossi and his fans and seems adequately provided for in that regard in his private life anyway. I think he mainly wanted to be treated fairly, and I can see why he thinks he wasn't, and certainly there is little on this thread other than your posts to suggest he is wrong.

To his detractors (not you jumkie) there is one rather big thing in all this, that honda offered him 20 million dollars a year to stay. Money talks all languages, and if true particularly in this economic climate it is rather a statement by honda, as is his rejection of the offer. I don't recall them making similar efforts to retain valentino rossi.

^^^ all the loony boppers are sulking now hahaha. Well enjoy the rest of the season. You will be ...... next season because you only know how to sing one song.

...., Rog, you're staring to sound just like Nino - stupidly simplistic and 100% wrong.

I'm probably one of Jum's 'NeoBoppers,' right? Well, I don't feel '......' in any way. I'll miss watching Stoner and will lament the decay of the series that he departure exemplifies, but I'm not going to sit around and piss and moan about it all. I'll keep watching, because I also enjoy watching J-Lo, Pie Dude, and all the others go at it. So long as there is decent racing, I'll enjoy watching. If/when the hardware becomes a steaming joke (I'm with Pov, and feel it's headed inexorably in that general direction), then I'll probably lose a great deal of interest.

I honestly think that people like you - instinctive 'joiners,' who latch onto a favorite personality to worship - simply cannot comprehend that others are not motivated by similar emotional needs. You see yourself losing interest when your Hero leaves the sport, and assume that all other MotoGP fans will do the same. Pull your finger out, please, us introverts don't work that way. As a general rule, we just aren't prone to developing (bizarre) emotional attachments and Hero Complex crushes with people we've never even met!

In short, you don't have a ....... clue why I watch, yet that doesn't stop you from leaping to some inane conclusion that "I'll be ......" without Stoner around. Yep, that's Nino-class logic at work...

Have you noticed that since the beginning of this season Rog has for the most part weakly mimicking all the things that we were saying about the Boppers a few years back? Nearly everything he has to say is in fact directly applicable to himself. This is about as close as he can get to irony; but really he only has a vague grasp of the concept. He thinks the constant repetition of ........ will in some alchemical fashion turn nonsense into reality. Its like watching Benny Hill vainly trying to appear erudite by plagiarising Shaw and pretending it's new fresh writing.

I've had a think about this, and now have another opinion on his retirement.

Casey is just a simple kid from a modest upbringing. He has reached the top of the sport and for some reason has copped a lot of hate for it and perhaps other things. He was booed at Donnington twice. He got sick in 2009 and people say he is a ...... He has copped a lot of flack from many directions. He aint an educated lad. He aint a crafty and cunning fellow who thrives on this kind of animosity. He doesn't have an advisor or sports psychologist (like so many elite athletes these days have) to help him say and think the right things. He is just a simple Aussie kid that has made it to the top of the modern, big-time, cut-throat, corporate league of motocycle racing and has seen things aint as pretty as it looks on the T.V.

He has said a lot of things that have not done himself any favours. And I agree, he sometimes does come across as very immature. But it's easy to judge the guy from our living rooms. I think many aspects of the sport have made him feel very bitter. But, we should not hate him for it. His comments about the sport were very harsh. But, I feel he aint a malicious guy. He is just a very talented kid that feels unappreciated - that's my view. Anyone could see in his body language during that press conference that it was hard for him. I actually feel sorry for the guy. The way he rides indicates he loves motorcycles. It's a shame we will all be without him next season.

Casey just wants to return home ...... not just to his new family, but to Niangala as well. And why wouldn't he, its possibly the most beautiful area on this planet.

In fact, i think he was even rooting for Stoner at Laguna (no BS).

That would explain why Rog. is chucking an even bigger bed wet/grizzle/whinge/moan/sook session than usual.

He just starts backing Stoner ......... and he leaves!!

If the CRTs had not been introduced, it well may have been a 12 rider championship

If the CRTs hadn't been introduced, Dorna would have lost their franchise.

The franchise with the FIM clearly states more than 16 bikes on the grid.

Dorna had no choice or they were going to lose the gig.

Of course its ironic that they changes Dorna has wrougth over the last 12+ years is what has driven so many teams from the sport.

Another wannabe fan who thinks speed trap times is the essence of a fast bike. I can ride a bike at 220 mph in straight line, its those pesky curves at the end that slow me down. U ignored all of my points because u have nothing. Ur the ..... who just said Rossi is uncomfortable on a fast bike. Now you want to qualify it? Ur the ..... who thinks racing dollars grows on trees. We have 2 competitive factories genius with a grand total of 4 bikes. Explain how we get to ur unrealistic dream of a full prototype field. Should we write a letter to Kawasaki & Suzuki to enter their "prototypes" that would be lucky to compete with the 'evil' CRTs?

U've done much ignoring on getting u to defend ur position on what makes "prototypes" any more special than CRTs as it pertains to arbitrary formula rules. Its because it CANNOT be done logically, you can't do it and nobody else can (the only two who have tried was you and birdman, and each of you failed miserably). So you have now resorted to ignore the crux of the issue, because as dumb as you are, you at least realize you can't do it. U cant defend ur position because u view it from the premise that Dorna has introduced CRTs to help Rossi while ....... with Stoner. U cant defend it because ur an intelectual midget! U cant do it. And i'll keep badgering u on this point because i enjoy seeing u spudder and fluster about crying against the CRTs without the ability to understand much less defend the world u live in.

Since we are all trolling experts, did it accure to anyone that maybe Casey is trying to get all his rivals to not give up this season?

Hope it works cause this looks to be another boring season...

I agree with this. (And I'll add, its not too much to ask.)

Mike, I had a better post than the one you quoted (well I thought it was better anyway) and that is I think it comes down to him being an introvert. For whatever reason, I'll chalk it up to human flaw, the world hates introverts.

I don't recall them making similar efforts to retain valentino rossi.

The difference being, Rossi was going to another team. Stoner isn't being courted by the opposition. And Rossi had some pretty damning things to say about HRC that seems to niggle at them even now, if you can believe Nakamoto-san. (to be honest, I can't remember whether they were said before he left or after... it would bear some research).

His subsequent lack of retention by Yamaha when they asked him to give up a portion of his salary so they could give it to Jorge is indicative that he has a high ranking personal ethic - like a lot of Italians - he would rather tell them to stick it, than compromise.

Don't get me wrong, it isn't meant as a criticism - As befitting someone that is considered the leading rider of the age, he would expect the lions share of the salary, the bigger motorhome, etc. which leaves us with the question - two major manufacturers have now let him go without seeming (not that we're privy) to bust a gut to keep him - what do they know that we don't? They have access to all the tech crews and the data - perhaps they saw the writing on the wall before it became evident to us spectators?

Who knows?

I would like to see him on a competitive bike. I would like to see Randy and Iannone on competitive bikes too. I wish the circumstances were such that Stoner hadn't lost the desire to be in this sport.

Perhaps the best thing that can come out of it is that Dorna wakes up and listens to the riders for a change... the majority have said it - the problem is continual rules change

Well, I was going to make a joke early on this thread, but I felt it was just to fresh a wound and thought I might be sought out and waterboarded...but, one can say, Casey has grown bored with MotoGP. Ah, the irony.

It did to me .... if I knew what an "accure" was

Great post. Its also a shame the cult of Stoner has brought out the worst in some people. I call them neoboppers.

Says the person who only the other day stated Rainy was paralysed because he was not good enough. You are the ..... !

Hey… 'chopperman' …is Raine paralysed or not? (Please tell me) don’t shy away from the facts like all on this forum members who never ever shy away from whenever Stoner make a wrong move!!! Just call a spade a spade and call it like it is!!!...there have been lots of better riders than Rainey who have lost their lives for less than what Raine did to be paralysed!!! Don’t go and make a rider be better than what he really is because he unfortunately got tragically injured…I do have sympathy for Rainey (and btw I did watch his accident live and thought it was a tragedy but I always thought that Doohan would be a better rider than him or Schwants) but when you compare a rider like Rainey to the epitome of this sport then he just does not compare because he did go hard but just couldn’t handle his own pace and crashed!!! So in saying all this champions are made to stay and put their legs between the seat and not be idolised from their past or how tragically their carriers ended, this all hypothetical and would be or could be…I say NO more and don’t regret what I say about Rainey!!!

Yeh, he even too the #46 sticker off his big yellow suitcase for laguna
