Steve Bonsey in Jerez

Finally caught the 125 race from Estoril tonite. Great job Bonsey. 2nd on the grid, bad start, I think he was 14th after lap 1, but quickly made it thru the ranks. What really impressed me was his battle with the 2nd group back, he had some great passes and was showing good form. His 4th place finish was very well earned. Poor Talmasci, the guy is going no where so far this year. Clearly Aspar is having its issues, not dominating like last year.

In regards to following 125's and 250's, coming from an American, I love them. I hate to say it but I almost look forward more to the 125's and 250's more because the racing is much closer and unpredictable. In America we have loads and loads of sports to follow, so motorcycle racing is just another one on the list. Traditionally motosports has been mostly followed by working class types and there is a "redneck" stigma associated with a lot of it. That said Nascar's popularity is helping bring people into racing. I think also if more people knew Michael Jordon had a racing team they might be interested, if only the AMA wasn't a run away (a whole another topic on its own).

But back to the subject, great job Bonsey, really showing super fast progress.

I was also sad to see Bradley Smith go down, really pulling for him this year as well.

I was impressed with Bonsey also. He has shown he can adapt to the bike, europe, and gp circus quite well. He seems to be progressing really well and that would be key for any team manager looking to sign a young rider. I like the guys that take a shot in Europe and stick through all .... and let their results dictate how far they go.
