what a lame ... race......i hope they bring back the 990s someday....

Please tell me again, what was actually wrong with the 990 formula?

Honda wanted to make 800...to make the racing "safer"
<
nothing at all to do with the lolly-pop kid riders they are creating in a lab.

Where is the evidence that the 800 formula is Honda's doing? I mean, if we lowly fans know that Honda was behind it all, then the other manufacturers surely would have known it too. I imagine Yamaha, Ducati, et al would speak out if they knew or even had good reason to believe that Honda was manipulating the formula for their own benefit.

Who knows, maybe the other factories have spoken out and I'm just ignorant. If they have, please show me! I want more evidence than that found in internet forums, where Honda is a popular punching bag anyway.

which one is right???

Even when Rossi was either 10th or 11th at one point, he was still the first Yamaha. Both he and Edwards said they were struggling with front end grip during Friday's practices.

again, just like the rossi/stones debate, there is no real proof, just hear say from the media.
i heard it was honda who pushed for this 800 rule with safety in mind but i heard that from toby and juels on eurosport. truth or urban myth ? depends what you want to believe i suppose

Probably, the "wrong" was that it was relatively easy to build an engine with more power than you can actually use. That equalized things a lot. Big manufacturers, Honda first, wanted to bring their technological superiority to bear, so with the pretext of safety pushed for a formula with smaller displacement, where superior engine techology could be an advantage. They also decreased the maximum fuel permitted in the tank, with the same apparent purpose (don't tell me that helps safety...).

But things not always go according to plan. In fact the new formula has brought engineering competition in front, and has made electronics more important and even indispensable; but for the moment, ironically, it has exhalted the advantages of the desmodromic Ducati engine... Something probably Honda and others had not considered well

don't be nieve....it was no coincidence that the DAY the 800 rule was announced...Honda was already testing one.

Honda Engineers
" 800s?............ Oh look we have one built already! "

Changing engine size makes all manufacturers consider new radical engine designs, and pushes the engineers to the max, good Idea I think but I think it has spoilt this years MotoGP.

As for the race, What a load of ..... MotoGP needs to be carefull or they will lose all fans, including me. If there no Passing or the touching of fairings then its not racing. May aswell make one big superpole. Very disapointed.

Wasn't Ducati the first big team to officially test its 800 bike? This tells me they had one built too. Maybe Ducati engaged in backhanded manipulation as well?
