<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Andy Roo @ Jul 13 2008, 02:22 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>MichaelM, I agree with you and I've always said that Casey needs some mellow. I originally posted on Crash.net (which is down at present) that I considered Nicki to be the ideal teammate for Casey so he can teach him mellow and cool. This was some time ago.
I don't demand anyone like Stoner, but hate because he is a prat and not because he can't ride or is a cheat. If you want someone to argue the merits of the bike, get Marco or Elias to do it, it really isn’t a great argument.
As for this weekend I would nearly put my money on Dani, won last year, is improving in the wet which it may be, he set a multitude of fast laps in FP3 and qualifying and seems to have recovered his confidence quicker than Casey after his off.
These are reasonable points.
This forum has fortunately not yet degenerated to the extent that the crashnet one has, and most of the long term posters on here are passionate and knowledgeable fans prepared to give credit where it is due. You can't really blame anyone who has followed the sport for the past 12 or so years for being a rossi fan, or for being upset by some of the fairly silly criticism of him.
As for casey's crash, I think what he does with the ducati involves pushing the limits of its performance very hard and requires absolute confidence in the bike, and a big crash very likely does take the cutting edge away from his riding. I also wonder whether ducati with their artisanal approach always give him a number 2 bike which is as good as his number one bike. Along this line of enquiry, I wonder which bike sete gibernau actually tested, a casey bike, a marco bike or a generic ducati?
By the way, and this is completely irrelevant, you might like to tell them on crashnet that growth hormone whether high due to intrinsic pathology or externally administered does not cause disproportionate growth of extremities or jaw(cf tour de france) until adulthood when the epiphyses have closed, and ian thorpe has had huge feet from at least his early teens
