Aprilia claim it was to double the service life of the cylinder head from 900km to 1800km. I'm inclined to believe them.

I think Haslam, Rea, Fabrizio, and Checa are going to be battling towards the front. The rest of the factory riders either show poorly or have never ridden Miller on an SBK before. It will be interesting to see what Biaggi does. He was at the front of the midpack last season. Maybe he can improve.

I think Biaggi is riding a bit harder this season now that he got last year's new everything out of the way....he rode well last year and was able to get data to build on each round and for the this current season. He would race hard when he felt he could push the bike more, but was wise enough to ride it out when the win/podium just was not there. Plus he was the tester most of the season...Nakano was either not up to speed or busted up from his many crashes.

I also think with Camier being fast out of the gate and looking better each round, Biaggi has turned it up a bit to play the "stay ahead of the teammate" game. I just wish Haga was in the mix a bit more...he is great to watch when pushing for the lead!!

Haga in 2000 on the Yamaha R7 I love the R7....it looks sexy standing still and is precise weapon in the track.

Good post, agree with all of this, particularly about the R7. If it hadn't been for that ephedrine and those meddling kids at the FIA...that would have been a World Championship bike in 2000.

Max is one of those riders that like Pedrosa or the late Steve Hislop will hit the same sixpence with his front tyre lap after lap. If he can't set his bike up to do that, or some problem prevents it, then far from riding around it, he's mentally shafted. Like Dani, Biaggi prefers an empty track to race against. The same was perhaps unfairly said of Troy Corser for many years, but since he secured his second title, he's become more of a fairing basher in my opinion.

Sofluoglu is another rider in the category, to graduate from the 'they don't like it up 'em" school - (to borrow a phase from Corporal Jones). Though where Kenan is concerned, this would appear not to be the case within the privacy of his motorhome

Haslam gained 1.6 secs from practice, impressive.

Haga slowest Ducati, again. I think we may well see Bayliss at Misano at this rate...

I was at that turn and saw that move....I was kinda suprized it did not end up in a crash.

You were at that turn last year? So was I. Really dirty move IMHO, especially coming from a guy who complained so much about Josh Hayes hard racing at Portimao the year prior.

Disalvo running good for the home crowd, hopefully he can make for a good race day.

Fabrizio is getting the job done, hell, so is Smrz and Checa, where are you Haga? He might be staying at my hotel, I saw some Xerox Ducati guys in the lobby when I checked in, if I run into him I will ask him whats the problem.

yeah, that section of seating had good seats for a nice view of the straight, the attitudes and great view of the final corners for the drive onto the straight. The Sterilgarda Ducati team was at our hotel last year, and I was right behind Fabrizio and hiis team going through security at the airport when heading home....I had him sign my race ticket..

Wow, Haga showing a little form again. Even when he was challenging for the championship he was a notoriously poor qualifier. 2nd row for him given all of his struggles is quite good I think. Perhaps he'll challenge for the podium. Would be a welcome sight for sure.
