Phillip Island 2012: Farewell Casey; (predict, practice, qual)

I am prepared to predict (and have done earlier) that if Stoner wins the Island, he may not make Valencia

Maybe so, I mean why go all the way back to Europe for one race? If he wins he could bask in the glory and not have to leave home ever again until he wants to.

Maybe in the summer break he packed up and sold his house in Switzerland too

Until this sentence I don't think I've mentioned Valentino Rossi in this thread at all but correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not making any assertions about Rossi relative to Stoner and that wasn't where I was coming from. You and Geo made that link. Both Lorenzo and Pedrosa have beaten old Rossi more than once in a championship but I actually quite like both of them - so clearly it can't be the Rossi aspect that leads me to my views on Stoner.

Just because people have different views doesn't mean they are idiots. For a while everyone thought the earth was flat.

Anyway, on Stoner's riding. He's doing bloody well.

If it was a rider other than valentino to whom you were referring as being called a prima donna, in your opinion inappropriately in comparison with stoner, please inform me to whom you were referring and I will stand corrected. Imo stoner and rossi are both the best and most prima donnaish of the current riders. Also imo jorge lorenzo was a prima donna in his early years, but not so much now, and will likely finish rated stoner's superior if not rossi's.

I didn't and wouldn't call you an ....., and just as you and doubtless valentino would not consider yourselves responsible for the sins of valentino's fans, nor am I responsible for everything other stoner fans do and say.

So quitting a race early would be acceptable? Even, judging by the tone, admirable? Too weird.

I am pretty sure whatever Stoner did you would have a cry about it....

Oops nearly forgot to put a smiley face
<
......just so you know I am kidding.

that would be totally unacceptable ,imagine you bought a ticket to see stoners last race and he isn't there because he doesn't feel like it.

also its his last chance to ride a top gp bike (for now)

All good. I've had my say and now am moving on.

If stoner gets a second lead come race day, I'll have to eat my words.

Goat, where and who is projecting the admirable tone of which you speak?

IMO only here but Stoner is very self centred and I gain the impression very focused on basically giving a big FU to the aspects and people within the sport whom he feels have caused his problems and feelings. One of the best ways of giving that FU is to simply say 'take this job and shove it' (I mean, many people have wanted to do just that in their employment).

Whether that is the wrong or right attitude is very debatable (I personally favour wrong as he has made a commitment and should stick with it), but I for one woould not be surprised as Stoner is not one to care about convention.

On the flip side, who knows (as it is actually rarely discussed) just how strong his loyalty is to HRC and/or Puig so he may wish to return to help Pedrosa a little as well .

Either way, when or where he goes some will miss him, some will not miss him and others will not even know he existed.

Stoner was asked that yesterday. He denied it outright. It has always been the plan to finish out the season at Valencia, and that is what he will do.

Glad Stoner gets a corner, hope Rossi gets one too, The Lance Armstrong count my championships Valentino ........ corner.

You get halfway through the corner have a cry and get the tyres changed. Then exiting the corner you jump on everyone else's bike until you have the right one, and everyone pours money on you, the Carmen sucks your .... and you make some stupid witticisms in your ...... up monkey boy voice and banish anyone better.

It's a long corner and sad part is it has .... all to do with riding a bike.

Nicely put.

Casey for the win. Rossi to lumber around the circuit like the fraud he is. IMO, Dorna screwed-up orchestrating that deal with Yamaha - should have just gotten rid of him instead of force-feeding the public the myth any longer for the sake of making a few more bucks. It's making the sport look like a farce - which it probably is. Valentino Rossi IS the Lance Armstrong of motorcycling, but with a clown face that blows kisses. We have been duped for long enough. It would have been better to get some new blood in the sport so things can re-bulid. But no, the myth is gonna be prolonged for as long as the ....... show up at the tracks waving their pathetic yellow 46 flags like unquestioning zealots. Now he is biting the hand that feeds him by "moaning" that the sport is boring because he can't win anymore. Poor baby!

Go out there and win that race on Sunday, Casey. Stick it up Dorna, the yellow pantie brigade and everyone else. And if you don't wanna smile for the cameras or say the correct things, good for you. This is bike racing, not effin X-factor!

But then he would miss the special party Dorna has for him at the season final. You know, the one where they celebrate the career of the most successful rider in the 800 era, multi WC, Pole record holder and fastest rider on the planet.

I predict that every time HRC requires a stand in rider due to Marquez getting injured making some crazy move or Pedrosa gets injured by Marquez making some crazy move they will call Stoner. Stoner will gladly accept the offer as it will give him the chance to come back, spank the field and stick it Ezpeleta's arse that his WWF WC is a farce because the fastest rider is not in it but can come back and spank his riders when ever he chooses!

Stoner may be in a position to assist his teammate at Valencia. It's quite possible. I doubt he'd forgoe that opportunity and sit it out.

A passport does not make you fast. Talent and attitude make you fast. Casey Stoner has both of them in bucketloads. Sadly, there are no Australian riders to follow in his footsteps, as the Oz domestic series is incapable of producing them. It is not alone in this: there are almost no fast, young, talented Americans, BSB is only producing riders who can compete at WSBK level, and there are only a few coherent national programs in place. Thank god for the Red Bull Rookies.

I 100% agree with you on this Krops, imagine if Casey never went to the U.K what a talent wasted. Your about Aus demestic series being incapable of producing young talent, quite sad really. Speaking of which was watching Sepang race last week on OneHd here in Aus which Darryl Beattie main commentator was asked where the next Aussie champ coming from...

Darryl found a kid in S.A called Olly Simpson, he has won everything here he can and recently his Dad and he went to Spain to try out for Red Bull rookies Cup. Apparently he won a race and Harold Bartol was so impressed mad sure hes in the series for next year. Hopefully he can get through and not slip through the cracks.........
