Phillip Island 2012: Farewell Casey; (predict, practice, qual)

Does the fact that the 'ceremony' occured at before lunch, on the Thursday before the event, validate or invalidate Jumkie's point?

Well, Dorna did put up a free video of the entire "ceremony" up on their official website.

http://www.motogp.co...er Casey Stoner

EDIT: Crap, it wasn't free, and its not the entire ceremony. Well, if you had a vid pass, you would see it was a one minute video on the entire ceremony. Well, a minute and six seconds to be exact. And if somebody can lift it, you would see this is the most horribly spliced video in history of the world. Makes that recent anti-Muslim video look like Ben Hur.

The reason IMO BSB riders can only make WSBK,s at best (usually) is the fact that the tracks they race on week in week out are shockingly ......

Very tight, narrow, no runoff , and most are more like street circuits than MotoGP circuits.

Bumpy, uneven, old farms or airfields.

Corner speed isnt everything in BSB, and the transition to fast flowing Motogp circuits is very hard.

Probably the same for the Yanks aswell.

What a joke of a video. Pure contempt.

True, all our circuits are Shy-te (learned that little gem this year). But I recall Ben Spies said the reason he was so successful in Wsbk and later in GP (minus this year) was decidedly because the AMA tracks are shy-te. Saying that if you screw up a corner in the AMA, your ...... for 3-5 corners after, where as the Euro GP style tracks are so wide and smooth that this allows for a bit more forgiveness.

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean that everyone isn't after you.

Having said that, if stoner doesn't win at PI, and he is unlikely to win on available evidence, it won't be down to Dorna.
I wasn't talking about Stoner.

I wasn't talking about Stoner.

Ah, irrelevant, Mike was talking about you.

Anyway, unlike Hawk, I'm praying for rain. Full on rain, not this pitter patter ..... This way Casey can leave the sport in glory, and Nicky can finally win PI on the Ducati. Even though his supposed Goat teammate has said the Duc is no longer the best in the rain. And of course, he set out to prove that at Sepang, though Nicky feels they've lost some advantage, that won't stop him from pushing his bike. To VR's credit, cruising around (ah the irony) for points will make him look like he was 5th fastest this year. He should send Crutchlow flowers and tell him to keep pushing his M1 to the limits.

I'm also praying for rain so that Ant West can win his home GP. That would be a sight to see, as I would love to remind the peeps like Pov who would have advised him to quit, which I forgot to mention in the Sepang thread given he arrived on the podium. West might also be happy to learn I heard that Carmelo Clause wants to make a minimum wage in GP. That should help West pay the bills and follow his dreams, something he may not have been around for had he subscribed to the advice of people like Pov.

You just one upped JK.

Uh oh. Curve has joined the fray. Must come up with something good. Here goes

Hey i see a lot of Aussies in the back wearing long black robes and round spectacles. They must be there for the quidditch match this weekend.

The former cruising caretaker only finished 4th because he wasn't pushing. Sure he'll use his mythical broken wrist as an excuse, but that doesn't explain why he hasn't had a podium does it. Still with 2 races left he could still equal his Goat teammates results this year, & if he can't hey he broke his wrist right? Twice! & Of course that's provable because he bleats about it every 5 minutes illustrated by photos on twitter.

Desperation looks ugly on u Goaty.

Twitter is a type of facebook, VR use to call press conferences to remind us about his shoulder for half a year. Then he figured a much better tactic to deflect attention. It came in the form of hiring his dad to pretend he was VR, then pretend he was a fake reporter, and proceed in asking fake questions, to which his dad (pretending to be VR) would answer them pretending to be asked pretend questions from the pretend reporter. The irony being it reminded me of reality TV pretending to be real.

FFS.

I wonder how long the Rossi-feeds-the-koalas-and-visits-the-penguins and Hayden-is-escorted-from-the-pig-enclosure tourist type videos that Motogp.com post for PI will last for.

i get the part with motogp politics but what about australia?

i can't really picture a scenario that is something like he shows up for the race and the organizers don't let him start because he won the last 3 races or something like that.just doesn't make any sense. and back then there were no big sponsors to be made happy and british fans booing him so whats that about?

i'm not sure what all this is about, if hes not obliged to do events for sponsors and does not take v8 racing too seriously but rather as a great hobby i don't know whats stopping him from having fun.

What's it about? It's a way of highlighting Stoner's supposed weaknesses and pre-judging him.

If/When Stoner enters V8s [most likely in a Holden, L8braker] it'll be as a welcome guest, not as the "interloper" in MotoGP.

And if he does 'run up against the politics' (a nice ambiguous phrase which can be coded for post-hoc rationalisation), so what? Oh, hang on. If that happens it'll allow more pot-shots at him from afar. But by then someone else will have become the villian in this ......-up narrative.

Personally, I think he'll just do it for the jollies. Doesn't mean his competitive streak won't show. But then again, I couldn't care less, car racing sucks.
