Phillip Island 2012: Farewell Casey; (predict, practice, qual)

Stoner

There's some really unhealthy paranoia going around on here. It's kinda disturbing to read, & you have to wonder if people realise how they make themselves look.

No smiley face:

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean that everyone isn't after you.

Having said that, if stoner doesn't win at PI, and he is unlikely to win on available evidence, it won't be down to Dorna.

Like others have said, this has nothing to do with Dorna. Dorna will do nothing for Stoner except slam the door on his arse on the way out. Poor Dorna, they don't realise that Stoner is walking away with a big chunk of their credibility. Also a fair chunk of their fan base.

Stoner for the win. PI requires Mans Balls not the Metro Balls that the Euro's have.

A passport does not make you fast. Talent and attitude make you fast. Casey Stoner has both of them in bucketloads. Sadly, there are no Australian riders to follow in his footsteps, as the Oz domestic series is incapable of producing them. It is not alone in this: there are almost no fast, young, talented Americans, BSB is only producing riders who can compete at WSBK level, and there are only a few coherent national programs in place. Thank god for the Red Bull Rookies.

but why is that?

i like to think rea could land podiums and maybe even wins in gps but somehow british talent seems to be stuck in wsbk if theres not a free seat at tech3.

agreed about the rest, the idm for example is not even good enough to make the jump to wsbk ,all good german riders were in rookies cup or spanish championship

As stated by Stoner in the video on your site, he had to leave Australia because they wouldn't let him race because he was too good.

Motorbikes are considered evil by Australians unfortunately. I doubt we will ever produce another Stoner. I doubt there will ever be another Stoner. Him making it to the top was clearly a mistake in the eyes of those that pull the strings. They won't make the same mistake again.

I thought that section was very interesting. Stoner sounded and spoke just like he does when he speaks of MotoGP. I think he will run into the same problems in V8 Supercars, and anywhere else he goes to race.

I hear there naming the entrance to pit row after him since hes best known for exiting the track.

There going to call it Quit Row.

I'd agree there Krop, can't deny the guy's talent. I just wish he'd ditch what seems to be a huge chip on his shoulder about pretty much everything. He needs to remember what the sport, fans and his chosen career have given him.

tbh i didn't really get it.

he was old enough to legally race but they wouldnt let him because he cleaned up?

and now he will face problems finding a racing series to compete in because hes too good as a racer?

seriously?

Yeah I had the same thing, i'm just that good

Yeah Casey Stoner is just damn paranoid, as are those other two delusional Australians Julian Assange and Kevin Rudd; all in lala land about how someone was/is out to get them. Why can't they see how silly their paranoia makes them look to others. We must always remember to think and act as others would like us to. (memorise this and affirm it to yourself daily)

He left Australia because of the politics in racing. He's leaving MotoGP because of the politics in racing. He'll go racing in V8s and run up against the politics in racing. Politics are part of racing, in every series. Politics are part of life.

Well said and unfortunately so...everything is great during the honeymoon period then, especially when you do well, the politics get involved and then the passion wanes.

Thats why I gave up racing, my local club started favouring riders from away and who only came to select events and forgot about their bread and butter....

Yea...but the better question for Casey if he goes v8 racing is Ford or Holden(Chevy)?

i get the part with motogp politics but what about australia?

i can't really picture a scenario that is something like he shows up for the race and the organizers don't let him start because he won the last 3 races or something like that.just doesn't make any sense. and back then there were no big sponsors to be made happy and british fans booing him so whats that about?

i'm not sure what all this is about, if hes not obliged to do events for sponsors and does not take v8 racing too seriously but rather as a great hobby i don't know whats stopping him from having fun.

I don't think he knows how to have fun. Walks around in a state of paranoia and anger when the world isn't revolving around him. Others call another certain rider a prima Donna but he seems to be the biggest of them all. Definitely won't miss him.

As far as I am aware Dorna had zero to do with this honour as it was the Phillip Island race track management that renamed turn three to "Stoner Corner". Dorna will probably be pretty glad to see the back of him - I doubt they will do anything for his retirement...

Aw, look! Uncle Ezzy DOES care, and he DID show for the festivities.

The body language just may be relevant

- Ezzy and CS were careful to place an entire motorcycle between them.

Who's the flunky on the (far) left?

Ah, I see you're doing your armchair psychology again. Do me next!

EDIT: can't write anymore, long ....... day
