And KRJ's qualifiing times on the Suzuki in 2000 and 2001 where faster than both Suzuki's today.

they suck bigtime and get good coverage & publicity from bike sport but there last 9 yrs in MOTOGP are ....

kick the crap out

Ben! What a way to f everybody's brains out. Damn do I love this guy....though I doubt a top three will be happening on this track. Unless he gets some tasty bits from the factory!!!

he made a bad decision to go to Suzuki 3 seasons ago.....but his riding has gone down as well so they are a perfect fit at this point with both parties not giving a crap about each others performance.

I agree.

Also, from reading this from gpone about him developing a new frame and then denied to use it.Only Bautista gets to use it.

I wouldn't be all that motivated to give something back.Besides,he has probarbly already signed with Pramac then.I think he will do way better on the Duc next year.

Stoner nearly 2 sec clear in warm up! Granted that Spies and Lorenzo didn't do much. Sic looks like he could have his best weekend of the season. Dovi got the good settings again and ran better.

Some of my most vivid memories from last season were Stoner and Rossi drifting through turn 3 at 240km/h. Praying for dry race so we can witness the same again.

i caught the tail end of that race last year...saw stoner/rossi sliding it almost everywhere ...anyone got some gifs/clips of that action?

Would these two use the least amount of TC in the field?

Looked like it then.

Not sure TC is in play at 240k in 6th gear. I think, and I am no expert, that TC is more designed to assist in acceleration out of corners in lower gears.

These 2 riders, I believe have the best throttle control in the field and hence the ability to drift the bike with such finesse.

thanks dude...if memory serves me right..wasn't there one where stoner drifted the entire left turn going into the home straight? that was NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE

Fear rules, it makes people completely unable to relax and take things a bit less seriously, that's the problem -- isn't it

That explains Rossi's more serious demeanor this year, he's been visably more uptight.

You don't get it. But you are so obviously biased, it's not surprising...
<

What is missing between Lorenzo and Rossi is that playful spirit that was there between Rossi and Barros: they both agreed to bet on a pizza as prize for their mundialito in 2002. The spirit is what matters

Rossi has never been playful and nice spirited to anyone who is a real threat, ever. As soon someone steps on his toes a bit he is ruthless and serious toward them.

From what you say it is evident you do not know Rossi, even remotely.

He is really a playful chap, it's not a facade for the media -- it is his real self. He's also very unassuming and behaves 100% spontaneous and ordinary in normal life. He does have his likes and dislikes, but surely they do not depend on how "dangerous" someone is for him on the job.

Hayden for instance broke his incredible winning streak in 2006, but he never was hostile to him. Neither was he ever hostile towards Barros who certainly looked like the most serious threat at the end of 2002. Capirossi beat him in a few battles and looked like a title contender in 2005-06, yet they always remained friends. He was friendly with Gibernau as well, at least until the famous Qatar incident.

He can play mind games as part of the competition, and pretend to "hate" someone to prepare himself for a race, but afaik the only other rider he ever kind of "hated" was Biaggi.

I very highly doubt you know about Rossi in his actual life unless you are a close personal friend of his, if you are then thats ok. Even if what you think you know is right, i'm not denying any of it as it may well be true. You know Rossi has turned on any rider he has had a serious personal rivalry with.

As he should. They aren't playing for pennies. Even if he 'turns' on them, he still respects their ability. See his comments re max a couple of weeks ago. Those who he 'turns' against should take it as a huge compliment as it means that he sees them as a serious threat that he has to put the battle face on to beat.

Oh i don't disagree at all, but J4rno is talking about the lack of playful spirit in certain rivalries as if Rossi is some saint and the other rider(s) are to blame, which simply isn't true.

What Tom was implying is that Rossi basically fakes his playful personality, and that the 'real' self is something ferocious; he imagines that hanging out with people like him or Lorenzo would not be something so desirable after all, as it would be like being in the company of sharks.

Now I do not know about Lorenzo but regarding Rossi that's a wrong perception. I happen to have been around Rossi more than once, not as a personal friend (I'm not) but still as someone who was sitting at the same table and has been able to witness how he is, what he says, and how he behaves when he's relaxed and far from the cameras etc., and I can tell he's as funny a character as can be, 100% playful and unassuming, someone who really likes having a good time and enjoying himself in the same ways we ordinary mortals do. So in case you are invited to a pizzeria with him and his gang, go without fear. Only, if you are not fluent in Italian, you'll miss most of the jokes

That was not at all what i was implying. If you read what i wrote its fairly simple. I think Rossi is as responsible as any of his rivals for the lack of playful spirit in the competition he has with them. That is normal, nothing wrong with it at all. I don't know why you have such a problem with that.

I am absolutely sure that rossi is as he appears off track. Apart from anything else someone as famous as he would have been caught out by now if he was acting; there is never talk about him having done anything mean spirited, not tipping a waiter etc etc. Same as the gay stuff really.

There did seem to be a fair amount of mutual argy bargy in the biaggi and gibernau rivalries though, as tom is I think implying; then again I have never heard any claim from valentino himself that he is a saint.

Agreed, i don't think Rossi would make any apology for getting tough on those rivals, and i wouldn't want or expect him to.
