Agreed that it's a very tough game. And one thing I find interesting is pinpointing when exactly a rider's peak has passed him by. That was in my opinion the case with Eddie Lawson by 1990...and it sounds strange to say such a thing when he was coming off of the back-to-back titles of 1988 and 1989. Yet, the reality was that when he came back to Yamaha for 1990, he was simply outclassed by the teammate he had finished ahead of considerably in 1988. Though in fairness to Eddie, it's not like he was facing some run-of-the-mill teammate. But it's still jaw-dropping to me how much Rainey improved from 1988 to 1990. And unlike Lawson, Spencer, Schwantz, Roberts, and Gardner, we never saw Wayne Rainey lose it.

Not so sure about that assessment, JPS.
Rainey was a rookie 500 rider in 88, riding for the Roberts team (Lucky Strike), while Eddie was with Ago's (Marlboro) team. Eddie and Ago had a falling out over Ago being a greedy turd, so off he went to Honda.
On his return to the Yamahahaha fold not only was he facing a much more experienced Rainey in a much more mature Roberts team, he also busted his ankle (Thanks, Mick) at the season opener. Eddie got moneybags waved in his face by Cagiva and Kok-stinky got his Yammie seat.
I admire Kok-stinky's Cagiva win over Eddie's..

I need to use Google more, forgot they weren't together at Roberts-Yam in 1988. ;)

But Eddie did think he was not being treated equally in 1990 when he rode with Rainey. And after being mad at Honda after the 1989 title, the Cagiva money sure was a good bonus after being dicked over in his view by HRC and then Roberts-Yamaha.

Too bad Cagiva folded after 1994...I wonder what Kocinsky would have done if they had improved the bike further. He no doubt believes he would have won a title I'm sure...but in the real world, I don't know well he would have challenged Doohan in a true title battle. He folded riding against Rainey, so I don't see how he would have gone to battle with Doohan.

Standard or Hybrid Corolla?

You haven't heard the horn on my Corolla .............. sounds like two Koalas having an argument

Interesting that Koala video.

It's the exact tone that I hear in my head as I read every JKD post when he starts whining about Casey Stoner.

Thinking Mladin but not 100% as for some reason Barros also comes to mind

Likely wrong on both counts

Done without google (well that is my excuse)

Rubbish. As evidenced by Crutchlows expletives that outweigh his talent, Pedrosa's Honda had a great result today.
I didn't think it was possible for me to dislike Cuntslow any more than i do already but i learnt something today...i can always hate the arsewipe more, for one moment in his post race interview i thought he was going to be gracious about being knocked off by Pedrosa and then he comes out with "I'm glad he lost his second place in the championship',in a week when motorcycle racing lost a real nice guy in Hayden,Cuntslow shows what a cretin he really is,obviously he's going to be disappointed about being taken out but for ..... sake Cuntslow get over yourself,if he hadn't have done it you'd probably have crashed anyway you .....

I think it was already answered. Kozinski and Khandler, or Cozinski and Chandler.

People are hating on Crashlots because he was taken out of a race on the last lap for no reason? I am sorry, but I would have been really pissed at Pedrosa, too. It was an idiotic move that endangered another rider for one lousy point.

It seems way too politically correct or devoid of emotion or self preservation to expect a racer to cheerfully accept an incident like this one. There are other incidents that I do not like concerning Crashalot, but this is not one of them.

Attaching his remarks to Hayden's death is obscene and disrespectful to Nicky, Cal, Dani, and the rest of us. I would appreciate it, if everyone would stop linking every damn thing to Nicky Hayden. It is sickening.

To be honest Pony, whilst I agree that more is being made out of the comments of Cal than probably should be under the circumstances I do suspect that the issue is the 'I am glad that he lost 2nd in the championship' comment is the issue for many.

Whilst yes, the anger and frustration is to be expected, and more, understandable the comment regarding championship position is for mine, childish, petulant and says far more about Cal than it does about Pedrosa when you look at the full picture (let us not forget that before they finished sliding, Dani was apologising).

Yes, understandable anger and certainly comment that it was a Bautista like bowling ball move that should not occur with someone as experienced, but the championship comment was poor form (IMO).

Edit to add:
Wonder if there will be a fine or fines given the 1 finger salute (reference last year's penalties)

I'm not hating on Cuntslow because he was taken out on the last lap,i've hated the prick for years because he's an arrogant ....,of course he was pissed off to have been taken out, but when he was interviewed post race he'd had plenty of time to calm down and still he comes out with the ridiculous remark about being happy Pedrosa had lost second place in the championship, does he think Pedrosa took him out on purpose?,it was a racing incident..get over it,as for being obscene and disrespectful regarding Haydens death... you must live on a different planet to the one i'm on.

Think about Mat what you want, but HE knows CAL...:

Crutchlow: MotoGP?s brave heart | Motor Sport Magazine

"...
Crutchlow’s win at Brno was hugely popular within the paddock because he’s one of the good guys; usually joking, often a bit rude and always straight down the line. He says what he thinks and damn the consequences. Within the shiny MotoGP bubble, where pretence and smoke and mirrors dazzle way too many people, Crutchlow stands out like a greasy-haired rocker in a bunch of preening, perfumed mods. What you see is what you get.
...
His wild, staring eyes make him look like a dangerous man, which he is on a motorcycle, but he’s got a softer heart than most top racers. In January 2014 he and Lucy spent part of their honeymoon buying and building a house for a needy family in Mexico. That is entirely abnormal in top-level bike racing.
...
Yep, his win is hugely popular inside and outside the paddock. A lot of people don't get Cal because they don't realise that most of the time he's talking he's kinda taking the piss. I've known him six years now - as a journo, not a friend - and he's always great to talk to - takes the mick out of you, takes the mick out of everyone and himself - doesn't take himself too seriously but takes racing very seriously. And he has balls of steel
...
(Mike sinclair to Mat Oxley)
But did he have to say "the others are all whimps" ?
Disrespectful of his colleagues.
...
(Mat Oxley to Mike sinclair)
It was a JOKE! And don't worry, all of his rivals would get it - they know Cal well and know that he's always taking the mick
...
He isn't arrogant; as I said in the story...but usually when he says something daft he's taking the piss."
