Shark Gran Prix de France - Le Mans 2022

Yeah, he's quite small which could contribute to his body positioning. It would be interesting if his body positioning is the key. Seems like it would be easy for other riders to replicate?

Jorge used the tank to move the bike, hence why he got more competitive at Ducati when they built a fuel tank that he could grip with his legs better.

To use an old English idiom, it was six of one and half a dozen of the other. ;)

I didn't leave because of you, I left because I became too emotional on an Internet forum about the health of a person I've never met, who does not know I exist, and ended up having a bitter argument about it with a stranger on the internet, that just so happened to be you. Clearly I was looking for trouble that day as I am not an argumentative person.

I decided that was a good sign I should take some time away from the Internet. Life is too short to be governed by one's ego like that. The Internet thrives off people showing the worst of themselves to the world and I don't want to be a part of that nonsense.

I'm glad we could put that in the past and look forward to sharing in our passion for the sport again!

You just have to get used to it. I don't really care how people treat me on internet since I know for quite long time people behave crazily inside their computers/phone, but once we meet personally everything magically changes. Why that?

Well, it seems to me that on the internet actually we are chatting with a screen, a nickname and a page. We really don't know whom we are talking to, his face, expressions, voice and speaking, and thus we lack the human respect for this piece of silicon ..... It's quite different to chat personally compared to chatting with a screen, a bunch of letters and a thousand miles between us. Our brains need a real person in order to invoke the respect module.

Well, leave this to the past and hope you can understand internet is this: you and your device. It's not about you and me, or you and somebody else.

thoughts on le mans:

- we need to ditch the narrative that le mans is a yam track. Obviously the way to go fast here is to throw it in Sharp and get that drive. 93 in red> 99 in blue

- aprilia/aleix got some serious traction

- french people are either the salt of the earth or french. There is no in between.

The ban winglets contingent is starting to grow. At least a couple of publications on board now. Journalists seeding a narrative for someone? Or genuine concern?

Just journos being journos (aka drama queens). We've spent several seasons already with aero, winglets and what not and nobody complained about lack of overtakes, in fact the same guys calling for a ban now were the ones praising the unmatched excitation in past years. I don't know if they're being dishonest on purpose and ignoring the new elephant in the room ‒ride height devices, the only thing that has changed recently. I say let's remove the latter first, and then we can talk about aero.

Michelin's front tyre has always been subpar. Clearly they haven't kept pace with the technological development of the factories.

I read somewhere last week that Brembo data suggests we are seeing an annual improvement in braking of 10%. Historically it would be 2 to 3% year on year.

If the finger should be pointed anywhere it is the tyre manufacturer. In fact they have stated they are developing a tyre to address temperature sensitivity, due to launch in 2023. Too late, not good enough.

Saw the still shots. The video is even more harrowing! Tire pressure sensors to be mandated :D

Glenn Irwin took both superbike races. Nice prelude to his first trip to the IOM TT

Yeah, I don’t know if I buy the “I crashed because of dirty air from the Ducati.” excuse. I think a lot of riders are frustrated by the straight-line HP advantage that Ducati has had these past 10 or more years. It has to grate on riders who see themselves are more talented or more able, on bikes that corner better (or used to corner better) if they believe themselves to be more deserving of the podium that Ducati sometimes seems to dominate. Funny too that nobody complains about dirty air behind ALL the other bikes using winglets.

You’ll note: Fabio, who’s spent a lot of time tailing behind Ducatis these last 3 years, has never crashed because of dirty air. That’s because… he pretty much never crashes during races.

Re: the “Winglets are dangerous” whining, I think it’s hysterical speculation.

The question of whether it makes for less exciting racing… well I guess we’ll find out next year. If we see an abrupt 80% increase in passing all through the pack, empirical as it may be, I’ll go along with it.

Why are the journalists ranting about this now? I thought it was “settled law”. A done deal. Personally, I think articles like this are just the product of another one of a thousand and one other slow news days.
