MotoGP 2014 Round 8 - Assen, Netherlands

If that was truly the case then as soon as the "blowhards, bullies and vainglorious types" were gone this forum should have flourished. I contend that the "blowhards, bullies and vainglorious types" are what made PS the vibrant community it was. I believe the 'social experiment' that was the old PS illustrates that forum nirbana requires unsavoury types.

Bullocks!!.....the blowhards, bullies and vainglorious being gone is a good thing for here, and as you may have noticed more new members are signing up to here than probably have in a long time....were as in the past they were chased off by the bullies blowhards and vainglorious that are now probably the most prolific posters elsewhere....

I welcome new blood here to speak up and contribute....no matter what their opinion is about any rider or about GPss....so long as they are willing to listen to others views and engage.....(this is how it was in the past before the bullies blowhards and vainglorious took over the old PS)

who cares?
moto racing will always attract the same sort of people, given enough time we'll have the same crowd of beer drinkers, pot smokers, armchair experts, conspiracy theorists, nerds and outright wankers back again.
fortunately for powi those that are left are most of those things. this place will come good again.

where's andy though? and stief?

Let me guess how that went

Honda is evil
Honda makes the rules
Honda sucks
Honda cheats
Im bored
Marquez is overrated
Marquez cheats
Lorenzo is better than Rossi
Lorenzo is better than Marquez, but Marquez and Honda cheat
If it wasnt for those ....... cheaters, Rossi would be leading the championship.
Marquez is overrated
Kropotkin is a mouth piece for Dorna
Dorna sucks
Bridgestone sucks and cheats
Im bored
Marquez is going to kill somebody
Who cares, im bored
Lets have a poll
How many of you went to sleep during the race.
If Rossi hadnt made a bad tire decision, he would have won the race
Im bored

You are about 1000 useless words short....and you havent stroked your own ego enough while doing it... ;)

Well I never left but I did stop posting any comments. I also had most of the troubled souls on ignore so I did not see any of their comments which in a way defeats the exchange of ideas and opinions. The old site had no practical value for me.

Since things have calmed down I have started back posting and even started a couple of threads. No worries about growth, if the site is a joy to use then others will come.

For the time being I am enjoying this new deal here. Very pleasant atmosphere.

Will not waste my time looking for the other (new) site as I have no desire to visit.

Also I notice you, yourself, need a foil to bring out the best in you... on this neutered forum you seem to be posting to the wind.
As for your (and Pov's) other fantasy, your greatest foil - Jumkie/Winston hasn't been posting in either venue so the 'new forum' is as engaging, polite, and willing to listen as anywhere!!

fortunately for powi those that are left are most of those things. this place will come good again. Somehow I don't see that happening - the unique circumstances and personalities required to birth the original PS culture are about as common as the big bang!

where's andy though? and stief?
Andy has resurfaced, briefly. He is back at work and has been suffering from extreme depression... Stief, no idea!!

This is an Assen Race thread. I don't mind general MotoGP chat or even motorcycle chat in general but how nice another site is, how many posts it is getting, the well being of former members and trashing membership enrollment is just a little to far outside the lines for me. Those posts are definitely out of bounds within this thread.

So get on topic or take your junk remarks to the Lounge where those posts belong.

Back on Topic...

With JLo admitting he was scared when riding at Assen on Saturday.....

Is he now or has he been broken by Marquez?
Or has JLo just internally caved and his overall confidence is gone?

i dont want to see him become another Gibernau, but it is not looking good...and Assen just showed him as weak and destroyed....while Rossi rode brilliantly.....

I think maybe he needs to win very very soon .... or else i fear he is done for good....

Don't feel like JL is broken. Having a big off last year in wet conditions and then having a wet track during the race probably had him very nervous. Understandable for me. It seems that an off in the wet hurts more than a dry off. Guess it's because it always happens so suddenly and you have no chance to control it or your impact.

Jorge will be fine but don't look for anything great from him in the wet until he gets a few of them wet ones behind him. Time makes you forget the pain.

Remember in Free Practice he was turning some fast laps so it had to be the wet that freaked him.

The marvelous one has broken the entire grid. I'm talking all the way thru the garages and even into management. At this point in time no one and I mean no one has a solution. But as Marc himself said "It won't last forever but we will give our best" or some such PR remark.

I dont care who you are, when someone kicks your ... 8 times in a row at anything, doubt starts to creep in. Some can channel that doubt, some cant. Rossi is slowly starting to accept his fate, but unlike Lorenzo, this is not resulting in a meltdown since he is exceeding what was expected and most importantly, beating his favored teammate. Rossi came out and said it post race, their goal now is to prevent Marc from winning every race

“For sure Marc is a rider that for all his career risks a lot and he's very young, so he's very brave. But I think the main reason is that Marquez and Honda together are faster than anybody else on the track,” he said.

“For this reason he can fight for the win every Sunday; he is very clever and always concentrates – he does the right thing and for this reason he won and the target now is to try and win all the races.

“From our side we have to try to beat him at least one time – this is the target.”

What I can't understand is if things are so grand at the "other" site then what the Hell is he doing here pestering me with his silly ......... He needs to go hang with his pals.

Profanity uncalled for but I thought it so I posted it. I'll let it stand as is.

@povol

Rossi is an old salt. He will never give up even in his rocking chair years. I have no doubts that he will spend the rest of the year trying to find a way to beat Marc and well he should.

The rest of the grid should join him in his quest. Can you imagine the races we would be privileged to watch if that happened? As long as they did it fairly it would be welcomed by me.

I enjoy all races but the hard fought ones are special.

i thought we wanted to stay on topic?

wow - You must be one of his pals and feel he needs protecting.

Who am I ? You must not understand forums very well. I am whammy.

If you look to the left of my post you will see my user name. That is how I got your user name so I could put you on ignore because I can already see you had rather talk about and protect your pals instead of discussing MotoGP. As stated before, the Lounge is the proper place for that type of chatter. Hope this has cleared things up for you.

Someone that's hardly been here 12 months really shouldn't be trying to run the forum or saying what goes where.

Maybe you should start your own forum if that's what you want.

We both have the same title - Senior Member - and I am no more in charge than you are. I only suggested he take his chat to the Lounge whereas you suggested I leave and start my own forum. Wonder how ownership will view you sending their members off to start up some more competition.

As per the 12 month thingy. Right is right and wrong is wrong.
Whether you have been a member 1 day or 60 years.

Believe it or not I had rather be friends and discuss MotoGP. What say you?
