Introduction:
The first motorsport race which took place at Indy was a motorcycle one on August 14th 1909, on the 2.5 mile oval circuit, and despite its 100-year history it was not until 2008 that MotoGP arrived at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. To celebrate the event an intense modification of the layout was undertaken, but without affecting the legendary oval. The layout of the track, which is 4.170km in length and has 16 turns, incorporates the main straight of the famous oval circuit including the Brickyard and an area between turns 1 and 2 of the oval, before meandering through the vast interior of the IMS.

Can he be beaten?

Will the demoralisation continue? 10-0 to Marquez? The kid looks unbeatable. I don't see the pattern changing unless he injures himself.

You get a sense of why he's so great here.

Incredibly.....some people still think he cheats, and that some how Dorna is pre-arranging his wins.....

His pure talent is what is winning races for him....

people will always find excuses for someone they are not a fan of to not be as good as they're favourites.
Just admire what you're seeing on track IMO, the numbers stand for themselves :)

Just noticed he has match the total career wins of Tony Mang & Max Biaggi today :)

3 more to match Casey Stoner & Jim Redman

This race must put an end to the ........ notion that Rossi can challenge Marquez if he could just qualify better/get away at the front.

I agree that right now no one can challenge Marc, but I think you gotta give Vale some credit. Rossi was absolutely flawless the first part of the race. He was attacking corners with Marquez like aggression and throwing the Yamaha around like it was a Repsol. You could see the sparks flying off his foot pegs on just about every corner. It was obvious that once Jorge cocked up his lines and he and Marc got passed that Vale lost that rhythm though. He was much less confident and his riding style stiffened up and he reverted back to his old way of riding more on top of the bike rather than hanging off. Your guess is as good as mine as to whether it was down to lack of grip or lack of nerves. Either way, it was a great ride with some great battles and I salute Rossi, Jorge, and Marc for the good show.

Got back in late last night, riding in downpours is exhausting. Not a total wash out weekend though, since on track activities were not adversely affected by the rain that was all around the area the entire weekend. The racing gods were kind, rain was everywhere, just didnt fall at the wrong time. The ride up Friday was done mostly in gully washing rain, as was the ride home yesterday. .... it, thats why they make rain suites. Indy, what can you say. awesome facility, deep thick grass instead of mud, decent food at decent price [for a racetrack] new lay out and surface was a hit, track actually hints at favoring the Yamaha now. If there was some elevation changes in the track itself, it would be top notch. Much better than before, but still lacks that signature turn. The city itself understanding who butters the bread and letting people blow off a little steam. The race was good, and like i said, the new layout actually favors the Yamaha now, even though Marquez won. Noticed something while watching practice and qualifying Saturday. As the riders come through turns 8-9 and on to the back straight, i was listening to the bikes accelerate down the straight and it was obvious that one bike was exiting the corner in a different gear because his next shift after acceleration was considerably later than everyone else. Yep, it was MM. It looked like he was going through 8-9 in a higher gear and just free wheeling instead of using lower gear engine brake. This also allowed him to transition to the back straight smoother as the bike was not being upset by the lower gear acceleration . I dont know if he was gaining anything but it didnt appear he was losing anything either. I started wondering if that wasnt a fuel strategy, but Pedrosa wasnt doing it so it wasnt a Honda directive. If you can get away with it, it does have its benefits such as easier on tires, like i mentioned before, fuel saving. I dont know, just thinking out loud. Whats your thoughts? Had a blast, Indy trip is worth making and i wont say for sure, but it looked like attendance may have been up a bit.

My husband and I went to Indy for the first time this weekend. Also first MotoGP race for both of us, so it was pretty exciting. We didn't arrive until Saturday afternoon, as we were in a wedding the evening before. We sat in the SW vista, and would highly recommend those seats. Saw lots of action from our vantage point. We were talking about what we would do differently for next year and top of the list is DEFINITELY buying the Paddock/Pit passes. We went back and forth on them because of mixed reviews, but after going, were kicking ourselves for not. So many people were saying they got up close to the riders and autographs that you don't have a chance for otherwise. I looked for Nicky Hayden both days since he was hanging around but the closest I got was his dad (super nice guy). I also met Dominique Aegerter outside of our hotel Saturday evening. Admittedly, I had no idea who he was and felt kind of silly but he was nice enough to take a picture. All in all, great fun, can't wait till next year!

Sounds like you guys had a great time....and that place is excellent...

mscresawn...welcome and enjoy the racing...

It's great to hear good reports from people that have attended races.

Indy getting good comments.

Pit Pass was well worth the money, at least for saturday. I got Rossi's autograph and Jorge's. Rossi actually took my hand out of my hand, signed it and handed it back to me.

We sat in the SW.Vista. Great seats with lots of action. During saturday we watched FP along the front straight and afternoon practice on the grassy hill at turn 10.

I'll admit, I wasn't sure how the weekend would go but everyone was super nice and the event was spectacular. We have nothing like this in Canada I can say that. Even the F1 race is lame compared to MotoGP at the Brickyard.
