They never really had enough money to develop there own enough to compete with the big boys so had to rely on hondas out of date crap and we all know about the KTM saga. The one thing i think team kr did very well was building chassis. So this series with control engines is perfect. I cant wait to see them back.
<

Absolutely Roger.

I think the chassis and emgineering was team KR's strongest point when in MotoGP as they seemed to have a machine that others could not replicate in terms of chassis performance but could not get adequate mechanicals to make the most of that chassis

If all motors provided for Moto2 are of the same spec this should bring the field closer and we may have a class where engineering and rider skill again flourish.

But the bottom line is there is going to be a lame series based on a single bike. Takes alot from the series no matter who the motor supplier is dude.
Does it matter about manufacturer CC tyres power etc??

I JUST WANT SOME GOOD ....... RACING

No wonder you have so many posts.

Single tyre supplier for Moto2 has been announced, it will be Dunlop.

I'm glad this has been settled because both Michelin and Dunlop had shown some interest in this series and a tyre war could have killed it.

According to RRW Moto2 bikes will definintely not have cassette style gearbox - which is stupid and will leave riders unprepared for that aspect of MotoGP. It will be strictly Honda engines - period (150 HP). Organizers have declared that "All engines will be owned by the GP teams' association IRTA which will transport the engines from race to race, distributing them randomly on arrival at each event." Engines will be sealed so teams cannot make internal improvements." They will be maintained by a yet-to-be-announced service company. They will have standard crankcases, modified cylinder heads and close ratio gear boxes. Standard CBR throttle bodies and fuels systemswill be used - plus a control ECU. Basic data-logging systems will be allowed. In addition to chassis - teams will supply air-boxes and exhaust systems.

Any rumours about the bikes making a show before the season ends? :)Oh,I forgot to mention that the CEV/Buckler site has some footage of Moto2 bikes in with the Extreme class (could be you knew already tho),they sound fantastic.

I think Moto2 is a good thing, its more about concentrating on the rider and not the factory thats giving them money, then the 'true' good riders will show a lot easier. Im not saying the good riders don't show anyway, just harder when you have to be on a good bike first. Also, moto2 will teach the riders to set up everything around the engine where a lot is involved. It makes things more flexible. I like the idea, only thing I dont like is that Honda gets all the credit but I don't know how else you would fix that one. Maybe a new manufacturer every year? Maybe this will mean more MotoGP teams because the other companies will have more money to spare? I would like to see more European manufacturers getting into it, like Aprillia and KTM

well brett as for motogp don't hold your breath for aprillia & especially ktm to enter anytime soon. ..... but aprilla are said to be joining moto2 class with a chassis. having aprillia splashed all over the side of the bike & running that honda engine.

ironic..... ain't it.

MOTO2

The main concern, even if you are a ‘cup half full’ sort of person, is where is the money going to come from if most
of these MotoGP teams are already struggling with cash flow and effectively money will have to come from the same
MotoGP pot to run the Moto2 squad? The 250cc Tooth Team that runs Italian GP winner Mattia Pasini, who has also
been testing recently for the Ducati MotoGP team, has finally had its bikes taken back by Aprilia due to a back
log of missed payments. Pasini has been thrown a lifeline by the Caffé Latte Team who run Swiss Thomas Luthi,
and allowed Pasini to run from their pit box on a bike that ran in qualifying with a blank fairing.

Stories circulating the paddock this weekend talk of prospective Moto2 riders being asked to bring from anything
from $600,000-1.2 million Euro to a team for a competitive ride.

seems steep this i know some riders bring money's with them.motogp needs
cost cutting etc.

it must be a hell of a lot more £/$ to even get a sniff at getting a motogp seat
like the pramac seat JT was on about that at the weekend and the rider getting nothing at all for riding.even the mechanics get paid at pramac the rider gets nothing.thats what was up for
grabs there espargaro must have brought some big money with him to get the ride.

P.S. Talma can fook off not matter what money he brought he not done .... on the motogp bike A seat wasted.

I hope Mick D reads this.

Anyway, there is a silver lining in the cloud, the first year startup costs are always brutal for any organization. It is especially brutal for private teams who will be required to have facilities to fabricate parts. In the past, they could simply buy a bike.

I'm starting to see Dorna's/FIM's grand plan here. It appears as though they want to differentiate GP by requiring every team to prototype a bike rather than running an inferior copy of another manufacturers machine.

It's the exact same thing they do in F1. All of the engines are now performance indexed and heavily spec. The privateer teams are required to build their own chassis and they receive full factory spec engines from the engine supplier. Don't I vaguely remember Herve or Ezy say that they wanted to start recording engine win statistics.

Honda are scared out of their minds and now they've offered to provide full factory equipment to anyone who brings the money.

Yeah, its so expensive they hardly had any team applications...
<
dang all those idiots lining up to waste their hard earned cash...
<
gotta love the free market and there's a lot of experienced, successful teams betting Moto2 will succeed both competitvely and financially...
