Lorenzo: 3rd Championship Congratulations Thread!

huh. the only one? did ALL the other riders have a bad taste in their mouths?
I mean. for him to be the ONLY one. something must not have set right with them.

He is the only one that will take time to mingle,
all others leave the venue (and about half the people) as soon as the ceremony is done.
I have witnessed it four times.

Reception cocktails last less than one hour

Ahhh. I see. This must be what makes him consider himself a legend.
There was another Yamaha rider he left off the list of legends who was also pretty good.

Ben Spies?

The irony being buddy, Valentino abandoned Yamaha in a fit of self absorbed EGO. Then the League's top executive (probably from Rossi’s motorhome) orchestrated and subsidized his return to Yamaha. Otherwise, The Doctored would have been a Ducati ambassador and "Legend".

Okay. Who's to say Lorenzo won't do the same? It may just be a little premature to christen yourself.

True. Maybe Rossi will have yet another meltdown. As of now Lorenzo hasn't had an egotistical fit and thrown Yamaha under the bus, Rossi has though, fact. :)

Yeah, all 52 of them. I can't imagine him having much more than that. Who else is booed on home turf after winning the championship.
52 sane people vs thousands of insane people.

But you're right, only Rossi attracts fantastics.

My question is, who else is cheered when being the most epic sore loser in the history of sport? Cheer away Papabozzo.

Funny how easy it is to bring schizoids out of solitary confinement to increase post counts.

The guy has tens of millions of fans, some insane but most very sane. He has this many fans for reasons other than riding. JL is an A-Hole personality, he proved it at the Sepang press conference, getting all pissed and agitated about something that he hadn't been involved in. Respect him as a rider though. Maybe if you removed your mouth away from Casey Stoner's balls for 10 seconds you will see this.

This here is fascinating. So JL was the one who proved he is an A-hole at the Sepang press conference? Uhm...did you not notice the other Yamaha rider at the pressers, the pre & post? Remember when that other guy went all Chernobyl?

He mentioned the most famous Yamaha riders who have a. retired b. in comparison with whom he has as many or more titles.

I would have thought he could reasonably be expected to be mentioned with those riders as a Yamaha rider if he was to retire now.

He more than likely did not mention VR because VR has not retired, even apart from VR having 4 Yamaha titles to his 3; I am sure he can count quite well as his post Sepang comments showed.

I would give him more chance of ultimately winning 5 titles for Yamaha than I would give Valentino of winning a 5th btw.

It doesn't matter really. He's a legend in his own mind. Self proclaimed.

So 3 titles wouldn't make him a Yamaha legend in your mind homie? Especially since 2 of those where against his teammate, the supposed GOAT. That alone should be considered 'legendary ' to beat the guy on his own bike TWICE.

And rightly so. It is inconceivable he won't be proclaimed an official legend when he retires given his current record, let alone what he may add to it in future. I think he is 4th for total premier class race wins, and 3 premier class titles places him in very elite company in the overall GP pantheon.

Missing the point fellas.
Steve McQueen never called himself a legend.
Takes away. Like giving yourself a nickname. Doesn't work.

Well done Jorge Lorenzo!
Win the last race from pole and sign the fastest lap.

In the immortal words of Senna, when asked at Phoenix in 1990 about his teammate Alain Prost: "The results speak for themselves."

Here's my take in chronological order:
- VR would have never been even close to contention if not due to the misfortunes of ALL other top riders
- Once he saw a 'window' to the title with Lorenzo and Pedrosa way behind, he started showing his true self by crashing Marquez and sending him way behind too. And that's where Marquez anger started brewing, due to no penalty.
- JL made a massive comeback nobody expected, including VR. When the title started slipping off his paws, his meltdown started.
- Even if VR had started from his earned grid position in Valencia, the finished order wouldn't have changed; just the time between Pedrosa and him. Oh, and if anybody has any doubt the top 3 were riding flat out, just check the lap times. And even if Marquez had passed Lorenzo, he'd had won the title anyway. But no way in hell MM was going to attempt such a risky pass, and potentially hand over the title to VR if he wiped JL out. That was the only scenario where Rossi would have said the race was fair;).

Bottom line for me this season was this:
- Never imagined a 36y/o Rossi with 7 MotoGP titles and on his way out, wanting to win at any cost, ruining his reputation and looking like a calculating, cheating, and coward prick. Glad he didn't get his way this time, but the FIM did all it could to do that.
- Lorenzo definitely deserved the title, but he continues to be an egotastic diva many don't like.
- Pedrosa deserves to win next season. He's riding MUCH better than ever, and although reserved and quiet, I prefer that over the other more... 'flamboyant' riders now:cool:.

By the same supposed 'race fans' who would cheer when a rider goes down. That he was booed by fans of Valentino Rossi on his home turf says nothing about Jorge Lorenzo, more the nature of fickle airhead glory hunters many of which mysteriously vanished during the 2011 and 2012 seasons and will mercifully do the same when their hero retires.

You mean like calling yourself "The Doctor"?
Damn...my immediate thought. Beat me to it
