Apparently the fracture was fragmented which is probably why they internally fixed it. I still think he is likely to be able to do some testing; this is a minor injury compared to melandri and elias last year and these guys always seem to get back very quickly and to not worry too much about minor things like pain.

Since he apparently had no significant injury I don't think it is too bad. Danny pedrosa's practice start misfortune last year got similar attention.

Welcome aboard Sarto.

Interesting. Again we see the Suzuki's on top. Hayden again struggles (if you compare him to the top 4, but not when you compare him to Rossi's time). Nice to see Hopkins behind the Suzukis (hum).

Hey, lets crown Casey with the 08 title all ready. (oh wait, that's Pinky's line)

Lorenzo is the most impressive to me.
Michelin also looking good; I hope they have a tyre that will last nicky a whole race this year.
I suspect rossi is not unhappy.
Stoner not many laps; is he finally learning some discretion?

My initial thoughts;

1) Two factory teams have marked differences in the performance of their riders, ie Ducati and Kawasaki. The other teams seem to have some consistency with the times their riders have posted.

2) Stoner is still carrying that shoulder injury

3) Lorenzo has exceeded my expectations ... he has been impressive

4) Marco has a lot of work to do. He's had a few tests on that bike now and given his wealth of experience (especially compared to the rookies), I think he could be in for a tough year ... I hope he has his "mental" side of things sorted because he is going to need it.

5) Michelin has improved from 2007

6) If Rossi's new teamate doesn't light his competitive fire than his best years are behind him

7) Serizawa san must have bought $$$s to Kawasaki
<

8) JT is heading in the right direction and looking like he belongs (not that I thought he wouldn't)

9) Nicky Hayden will have a much better year than his 2007

Early days ... early thoughts!

YAY!! AT LAST!!!

Wow, happy over Nicky doing one fast lap after being mid pack all test? Dovi to replace him next season.

im so glad lorenzo is setting good times yamaha were so lucky to get him, lorenzo could be another legend in the making but i knew he would be quick even before he got on a motogp bike, i think stoner is gonna have to work hard to keep hold of that crown, with dani out the way hopefull hayden will have more say at honda and i expect him to be fighting this season.

i can see we are actually gonna get some competative racing this year rather than everyone playing follow the leader.

I see Pedrosa has had something to say about that already, according to motogp.com at a press conference today he was asked about Nicky leading the development in his absence and he replied, "he has been in charge of developing a machine before and traditionally it hasn't gone so well."
I was trying not to dislike the bloke so much this year, but he makes it pretty difficult not to.
