Greatest rivalry ever ?

Sorry mate, I don't want to hit you with a giant clue stick... but you were just talking about Stoner v Rossi.

1. I can't imagine why he would have Rossi's name on his championship t-shirt.

2. If he did, his name would be above Rossi's on the championship standings. I would have thought he would have been highlighting it, rather than deleting it.

I am aware of, and have sampled, a variety of UK real ales and various US micro-brewery beers (no Oz beers, though, through lack of opportunity). I have even elected to drink an English ale in one of my favorite beer pubs in Amsterdam (De Wilde Man), choosing it over a fine selection of international beers. However, walk into an English or Oz bar and order a beer, and you will be served something resembling making love in a canoe. Walk into a Belgian bar or a bar in Germany, and you will be served at the very worst, a highly drinkable and tasty beverage. Which contains alcohol.

Depends on the pub. Yes some of the big brewery owned pubs serve ..... but there are plenty of free hold pubs who don't. Firkin pubs used to serve good beer but sadly pubs in the uk are becoming a thing of the past due to tax and supermarkets. On the bright side these supermarkets serve thousands of great beer from all over the world. When in Belguim one of my favs is the blonde Grimbergen and in germany i drink Hanan Alt.

This was 2007... back when, in public, at least, they were all smiles. Rossi's name was on the front, among a list of his heroes, like Sheene and Doohan, etc. If the hatred runs as deep as you suggest, seems he might wish he'd never put it on there...

In which case he probably painted it out a long time ago. Along with Schwantz' as well ...

Ah yes, Schwantz's name probably got crossed off in 2009. I wonder if he whittle them all off before his retirement. Rainey and Doohan seem safe for the moment, right? Not sure if Gardner's name was on there... I expect it was, but if not, that'd be another blow to WG's ego.

The last one should be Marmite vs Vegemite (no contest, Marmite wins every time).

And it entertains me that both Australia and the UK produce substances they claim to be "beer" which are more like Coors Lite than actual beer, that actually tastes like beer and contains actual alcohol in anything other than homeopathic quantities. Everyone in Australia and the UK needs to be sent to Belgium for a weekend.

Anyway, Rossi vs Stoner if a) Rossi was on competitive machinery or
<
Rossi was capable of riding the Ducati like Stoner could. Those two really, really hate each other. And it would be much more fun if they were both on the podium every weekend.

Amen to that on the beer Kropo.

Imported stella or primus both from belgium is all I drink

Fcuk the english chemical cocktail they pass off as beer over here.

Phal are only for the experienced!

I'm too old these days but it was my choice once upon a time.

Oh dear, this is going to deteriorate into a Germany vs Belgium vs Czechoslovakia thread, I can sense it.

I don't see why.

I will happily drink all three... but if given the choice, would lie like a pig in a stye in a field somewhere in the Ardennes...

One of the great confidence tricks ever played on the gullible by Australians, with the assistance of basspete's mate paul hogan, was getting an international brewery to buy foster's; the usual mainstream beers in Australia are bad enough, but even most Australians drew the line at drinking fosters. There are a couple of beers called cascade and james boag which started as boutique brands but were taken over by the big breweries which still remain potable, and some nice boutique/microbrewery beers here as elsewhere.

I agree it is virtually impossible to get a bad german, czech or belgian beer, and anyone trying to foist something like the american budweiser (as opposed to the czech one , a brilliant beer) or mainstream australian beers like victoria bitter, toohey's new or xxxx on the general public in those countries would likely be run out of town on a rail.

There is no problem if you live in inner Sydney anyway, where there are multiple bavarian and belgian beer houses which even have reasonable food. I actually don't even like stella much now having partaken of a broad range of superior belgian beers.
