Greatest rivalry ever ?

Yeah, it's pretty ...... up when your arch enemy ends up your best man at your wedding hahaha. rossi fans and Haydenettes had our battles but most ended up mates in the end. After all we did share the same passion. I think some of the riders after time discover this about there rival competitors.

Excellent take. ....... end of thread. (Though it doesn't matter, Pov will find another vaguely interesting blip in the media to start another thread).

Sheene/Roberts v Authority

Roberts Snr v Sheene

Rainey v Schwantz v Doohan

Gardner v the World (he was an angry man)

From an Aussie perspective

Gardner v Doohan - these two just do not get on

Maybe between Max Biaggi and Rossi or Rossi vs Gibbernau. They are nothing compared to Stoner vs JLO. Not just on the race track but in the media, paddock, podium, on the hills, in the valley and outer circle...aaahh that was good old days...when VR was still young, Gibber with Honda and Max with Yamaha riding and Marco was still in 125 and the economy was good.....

Why do people ignore the obvious? Rossi v Stoner until VR became irrelevant.

May not be the greatest rivalry, but certainly had its fruity moments.

According to the charts and numbers they look the same but rivalry is a rider based category therefore if we accept that gaining victories back at the old days without the electronics was more based on the riders than teams then the Doohan, Schwantz, Rainey trio is the better rivalry.

Easy to forget how bitter the Lorenzo Pedrosa feud became - very much fuelled by the press and Daniel Amatrian's manipulation of this. It culminated in the King of Spain making them shake hands on the podium at Jerez.

I agree with the earlier post - Rainey & Schwantz.

Also there was no love loss between Dovi and Sic.

Okay - then what about Talpa vs Reality?

<

those 2 getting a long is not as likely as rossi and stoner becoming best friends forever

thanks for the info chop, sounds like a low for gibbers ,must have been a tough season for him .can't blame the whole #74 thing though, who knows what effect it has on you when your teammate passes even if he was your teammate for just a short amount of time

pissed off that i was too young to enjoy rainey vs schwantz
<

Lawson v Gardener, Rainy v Schwantz, Doohan v Rainy v Schwantz, Doohan v Criville, Rossi v Biaggi, Rossi v Stoner.

These are the ones I have fond memories of...

Abe v's the track/other riders/riding/ a blade of grass/a raindrop/etc ......... but he was so loved by all.

....... thread spamming again berry. Use multi quote or edit you gimp. Tired of seeing 4-5-6 or more consecutive meaningless posts from you every ....... thread.

You are the most pointless poster on the internet. You have too much to say but say very little. Do us all a favor and go play with the snakes.

Doohan Criville was one of the most enduring surely?

A tad one sided, like rossi v gibernau.

Rossi back on a factory yamaha against stoner on a factory honda would be one for the ages, there appears to be genuine mutual dislike.

Historically it would appear to be ago/hailwood, krsr/sheene and rainey/schwantz as has been said.

Look at this forum -- whatever the thread title, any debate always ends up with Rossi vs Stoner. That would answer the question on topic pretty well... at least for the current era.

Pity the duel seems to be over.
