Personally I don't touch cocaine so not sure of it's headache reducing quality

Not the kind of blow I was talking about brotha. The job variety is more my thing. Receiving them from females. I don't want to give anyone the wrong idea.

I ....... beg you to block me because it obvious you can't look past my posts and I'm not changing for you.

Oh Man, Dubs, it's not that you have a different opinion. It's that your opinion is not based on strong logic or fact. Not trying to mean. But it's like listening to people who say they are being marginalized because they stand firm on their belief that the world is flat. People who know better, just don't have any patience for that ..... You have painted yourself into a corner because it's gone on too long and it's a point of pride not to back down from what is an indefensible position. But peeps aren't going to ignore misstatements; debate is the life blood of this forum. You are entitled to your opinion, but not to your own set of facts. It's not a Boner thing or a Bopper thing or a who has the biggest consensus thing. It is a reality thing.

But I don't take issue with the facts about Casey Stoner. I get his greatness, his raw speed ect. but that doesn't leave other things open for debate. Like why he didn't achieve more, thats debatable. It is about any sport figure.

So you're saying that the reasons he outlined in his pressers and his autobiography are bogus? Stoner was always known for being a straight shooter, and if anything, he was maligned for being too outspoken. But I don't remember anyone seriously implying he was dishonest or afraid of a challenge. Maybe it's because I admire him a lot, but I have not seen any evidence to dissuade me from the belief that with Stoner, it was anything other than a, what you see is what you get proposition. He was very plain spoken. I can see from your point of view, in that, it's hard to conceive of someone coming that far, and accomplishing that much at a young age, just walking away from it all. Hard to believe that screwing a cute wife, dandling a baby, bicycling, surfing and fishing could be satisfying enough to replace racing. Sounds like something an older guy would say. I figure he just had strong ideas of what his priorities were.

I want to be completely not disrespectful when I say this. I think athletes a lot of times wear blinders in life to maintain the motivation. I think athletes only see things from their point of view until they retire. I think him regaining his relationship with Ducati is an example of that.

Being brutally conspiratorial here but given the outspoken comments of Vinales and Rossi towards Zarco and his riding style, I have concerns as to how he will be 'supported' into the future if, and I emphasise IF he is allowed to continue to threaten the top two.

Yamaha have invested large dollars into Rossi and now Vinales so to have them showing as anything other than the top two riders is where I have concerns as really, to date Tech 3 have always been the #2 team in terms of results and publicity but Zarco has thrown that cat amongst the pigeons. That all said, he needs to maintain it for a season both mentally and physically as well which is a big ask for a class rookie (and let us not forget that Folger is no dud either)

Spies, well I realise that his crew may have been somewhat contributory but I also look at timings of certain things that occurred.

I just realized I read your post too fast. Yamaha screwing Zarco... that's different. I suppose it's possible. I have a hard time imagining Hervé Poncharal putting up with that. Again, I would think Yamaha wouldn't contrive to alienate Zarco. He's a pretty valuable asset. Imagine if (for whatever reason) Rossi retires soon, or Vinales goes to Honda. They'd want loyalty from Zarco.

Thats what I was thinking Herve would lose it if swing arms started dropping.

Interesting. I expect his working with Ducati as a lot to do with management who are no longer around. He has, as Mike has recalled, that Stoner had a very warm relationship with most of the guys he worked with there. So, his return there isn't so surprising. In other words, it's Ducati that changed, not Stoner.

To me, that is what separates the very good from the brilliantly good - that single mindedness and absolute selfishness that their way and world is the only thing for them at that point in time.

There are many very good athletes who do not become great or even champions because they lack the selfishness (and this does not mean that they are selfish when out and about, I refer to selfish when at work).

My opinion only but when they lose this single minded selfishness is when the career will start to wane and whilst I do not think this was the case with CS (I genuinely feel that he 'fell out of love with the sport'), I do think that he loves to give a big FU to the establishment from time to time.

Not sure I fully get the last sentence but my take is that all that pissed him off at Ducati have moved on plus, if stories were right, Ducati sought him out due to the 2016 anniversary and him being their only MotoGP World Champion (although I would not be surprised if there was mutual contacting).

I do not think that he left Ducati for any reason other than feeling slighted by the few outside of the immediate race team over the illness although I also recall him saying that he wanted to emulate Doohan and ride for HRC so he may well have gone eventually.
